Auctions bring out the competition in people and they'll pay far more than if you just put a BIN price and no auction. Not even. From around 2014/2016 to well, now-ish, sweet was really really cheap because everyone was jumping onto the OTT classic/sweet-classic blend (think the princess sleeves, bonnets, baby scepters, etc.) When that was happening, 2010 era sweet wasn't popular. Stuff that's selling for 300+ now was going for 100 and under because no one wanted it. Things like sugary carnival and the original release of Honey Cake were still coveted, but prints like Jewelry Jelly, Magic Princess, even Milky Planet, were selling for way less. well, when taken on a large scale, trends are bound to work. the most influenced people might jump on the latest trend at every chance, while the less influenced people might only get one dress that's a bit on the edge of their comfort zone, and then some people might get none. yes. and then sweet-classic hybrid was the hot thing, so many people who were into 2009 era sweet drifted to that trend. Now that that trend is mostly dead, and AP is still really beating the dead horse here putting out stuff that caters to this supposedly more mature classic-sweet-larme hybrid, we're over it and are nostalgic for the stuff that came out 10 years ago. Sweet is often the gateway for newbies; goths usually go gothic (instead of gothic lolita), classics could go vintage/shabby chic. Girls who like sweet lolita tend to get into sweet lolita because there isn't a normie/western alt equivalent to it.

So for some of this stuff we're not really talking girls just giving up and switching to another substyle, you have to factor in that some years there's just a lot more girls getting into sweet lolita (for the first time) than other years. Like the past couple AP threads (which wasn't even a thing back in 2016) there's some griping over what the prices for sweet lolita should be because some of the newer ones have never seen AP Celestial go for $1200 apparently indicates there's at least a some newbies that came into the hobby just recently.

Honestly something is worth whatever someone one is willing to pay. That's supply and demand. Thats just the way the world works.

Exactly. But there are so many entitled poorfags crying about the prices of sweet now, like it’s owed to them that they should be able to afford it. I don’t care how much money someone has, but this attitude of “I can’t afford it so I’m going to be mad at whoever can and act like a bitch to them!” Is showing up in so many lolitas. It’s making me distance myself from some of the people I once thought were my friends.

Yeah i definitely feel that. If you can't buy it, then don't. You should have gotten it when it released if thats the case. Lolita ain't cheap especially for rare items.

People said they’d pay that much ITT. Why are you acting shocked? I swear to god you poorfags are doing this on purpose to stir shit

It's shocking because I can't believe how many lolitas are so dumb and don't know how auctions work. Who the hell starts max bidding with 6 days left???

>implying thats everyone’s max bidding price

COPE harder poorfag.

ngl part of me wants to bid $1000 just to fuck with people. It’s not really any skin off my nose to do it but I already have it in pink. Wish it was in white or sax.

>>10469323
Nta but probably because gulls will say they'll pay x but then the max bid won't even be that high. This is probably the second time I've seen it be true

>> No.10469345

>>10469333
where did I ever imply that $350 was everyone's max bidding price?
It's anon's max bidding price from earlier in the thread, and it's stupid for anyone to start throwing bids out (max or not) with so much time left. Have lolitas never used ebay or y!a before? This is like bidding 101.

This has nothing to do with being poor or not and is just standard bidding practice/etiquette but go off

If you’d been paying attention to the auctions on lm lately you’d see that people are doing that to avoid others coming in and offering a seller an amount and ending the auction early

But I guess you’d have to have a brain to figure that out and you clearly don’t so

>> No.10469353

>>10469352
But if YOU had been paying attention you'd have seen that people are still doing that regardless so not like that really works now, does it?

I’ve only seen it happen once since the early bidding trend started, compared to the 10+ times in the two weeks leading up to it
