Currently posted on their site with no details, I'm guessing they'll update later today.

This has been covered in the past few weeks, but general consensus is that:
- AP US is a franchise and not owned by AP
- AP JP/Maki/Asuka love Paris and is directly owned by the company, so it makes sense as to why they get nicer things and faster turnaround on items, and have a reservation system
- AP US typically gets the last stock of the branches, or is saddled with things that don't sell, typically get only a few of each item in each colorway, if they get it at all

>> No.10443875

I sat and watched the Topping Heart jewelry sell out on the Paris site because I couldn't justify the horrible exchange rate and shipping price for a couple ounces of jewelry. I really like them, but I felt bad price-gouging myself.

My chances now rely on my SS and AP USA. But my SS seems to be able to get less of my requests recently, and AP USA is always a sad bloodbath where I can only pick one item to buy at every release.

>>10443868
>only a few of each item in each colorway, if they get it at all
Is it really true that AP doesn't get some items? I'm concerned they won't get any of the Ice Cream Parlor jewelry and that was my last hope. AP USA already announced the Ice Cream Parlor bunny headbands, but there was no mention of the jewelry, so I'm starting to worry. But I don't recall them not getting anything from a regular/general release.

Well the FPS is a MTO (that I presume is unlimited) and won't really "sell out" so ICP is the only real bloodbath and mostly just the jewelry. I'm still not sure if it's worth buying considering the poly but it's so cute...

>> No.10443959

>>10443941

Oh true. They are far less cute than the more expensive fancy ones...I personally think the solid pastel older simple lyrical bunny wristcuffs with colored lace were the cutest; I'd kill for a rerelease of those. These current ones are similar enough to the bunny pompom ones (white lace with colored accent and bunny motif) that I didn't even register them since I already own some of those.

I got my FPS in the Japan MTO. I was certain AP USA would get one too and was right but I prefer to split payments for things that I am not gonna be getting for a while so I like the paying only half upfront model Japan does. I heard payment plan options for MTOs exist for other stores but that it is more difficult? Not sure if that's true.

I think there's some things that sell out before AP US gets them/JP doesn't send stock. Only things I can think of that I've noticed in recent memory were:
- the Vintage Tulle hair piece
- Nighty Moon headbands
- Pure Crown ring (at least I only remember seeing the Crystal Berry jewelry)
- Neon Star Diner special set and cutsews
- iirc they never were sent CTP sets like the JP onlineshop and Paris did.

They're also just less cute than most other AP bunny wristcuffs ehich was mentioned upthread, just saying...I wonder if in winter or fall they'll do bunny ear OTK or knee sock versions of those crew socks though. Then I'd buy for sure in a few colors.

I'm so glad I wanted nothing from this release (no use buying jewelry for a dress I don't want to own And I've already got a lyrical bunny ear headband or two); took a nap around noon today and woke up to see everything from ice cream parlor except the less popular OP colors sold out.

Kudos to AP USA for one major improvement that many people complained about previously though: they ACTUALLY leave the items up and have it say sold out now so people know when it's gone and don't refresh forever not knowing if the item has not yet been published or has been all bought. I'm pretty glad they made that improvement because it was a complaint from multiple people on the last two releases or so.

Does anyone have Sugar Candy Shop? I’m afraid I might have gotten a replica. The print is cutoff short at the very bottom—it’s actually not cutoff but the fabric is folded over for the seam, when you flip the fabric over you see the rest of the print.

The drippy apron is a mirror image of the ones I’ve seen in photos.

The ice cream lace looks good. If it’s a replica, would they have put in work to make the ice cream lace or would they have just used generic lace that looks similar?

I wondered if it’s a sample, but the care tag doesn’t say it’s a sample. Can anyone post the care tag if they have it?

I’ve never had a replica so I don’t know how much quality is put into AP replicas. The dress appears to be well made.

Thanks in advance.

Why does this need to be posted? It’s a WTT which usually people post higher prices on. And with how the sweet market is going someone might just pay the BIN price even though she’s trying to go for a trade

There’s been a lot of posting LaceMarket listings lately and it’s just coming off as jealous poorfags crying they can’t afford something. The market for sweet is rising. We get that you’re poor and upset. Either spend enough to get it or don’t.

>> No.10448456

>>10448453

I only post LM listings when there is a high price on an overtly damaged piece or a listing caption/piece that is cringey, gross, or amusing. This one wasn't me but everyone isn't a poorfag. Maybe we need to start a new LM thread again so people can post complaints there but that has the potential to get personal toward certain buyers or sellers quick.

But yeah angry posting high prices items comes off as whiny and if that chick reads here she'll probably feel bad. As an ana-chan she is probably already sensitive and insecure and I bought from her once and she was super sweet and nice and seems to be in general. The high price was almost certainly to encourage trades; she owns a ton of old AP and is specifically seeking newer AP in her trade request.

I get what you're saying, anon, but you're coming off as someone who doesn't even buy AP in general, or doesn't have any skin in the secondhand market.

Many of us are still constantly buying and are far from just being "poor and upset." It gets really tiring when every older sweet dress ever is pushing $500~$700. Prices of accessories are going up too. It comes down to us not wanting to price gouge ourselves when we were used to a specific price point in the past that has now gone up very rapidly (I've said this before in another thread) and spending $700+ every week on just one dress is over twice the minimum wage in the US. That's far from "being poor" if you also pay bills, rent, food. It becomes egregious.

Also I've said this before too, but listings like this are feeding into the bad market right now. The next time someone lists Toy Parade they might see this and try to sell it at $800, and so on. It becomes an inflated value, especially if this girl is mostly interested in trades and intentionally used a high price as a placeholder. I have multiple colorways of Toy Parade, including the pink colorway she listed, and I'm still mad that it seemed priced so inaccurately.

She can sell it for whatever she wants, yes, but it doesn't mean we won't criticize it.

Because people can spend their money however they please. Getting mad at people buying items they want is the epitome of “I can’t afford this so I’m mad at the person who can.” People have every right to use their money how they please. What do they owe to you to not buy something they can afford? Going around “shaming” people for buying items is pathetic and will only make you look obsessed and envious. The market is changing, and going after people for paying what they think an item is worth is just showing the world how crazy you are.

If someone wants to pay x amount for an item but you only think it’s worth y doesn’t change the fact that someone else bought it for x. People aren’t going to restrict how much they want to pay for items because you disagree with it. How entitled can you possibly be?

Where have you actually been?

You had YEARS and re-releases to get MP or SC. Second hand market was dirt cheap for the past what, 5ish years? You could get any SC or MC cut/color for ~250 or far less. Often they went for about $150. Same goes for most AP sweet dresses and jewelry.

I fail to see how anyone other than newbies are complaining about the sudden rise in second hand prices when these are some of the most coveted sweet prints AP ever made, both in Japan and in the West. Since the chances of AP re-releasing these prints a third time in actual cotton and glitter is unlikely, of course they are going up again. There are a limited number of these prints in existence and if demand is going up then the market will reflect that.

It makes sense newbies would be salty since they just discovered what they want and now have to pay the price because they are late to the game. But anyone else actively pissed is an absolute embarrassment because you could have scrapped together your McD's money at some point in last half decade and gotten the items you are complaining about for a steal. Why are you only salty now?

Also you clearly don't follow the Japanese market because a lot of pastel/sweet cotton prints and jewelry are going for a small fortune there, too. And there's the, oh, fundamental fact that no one owes you anything to keep a demand market in a price range you approve of. People can buy what they want for a price they are okay with. It's none of your business if it is worth it to them.

(What's funny is this same shit happened with dresses like Gloria and Katrina but they didn't have nearly this same degree of such a salty echo chamber.)

When even a self proclaimed AP whore like Tyler decides she prefers BABY and has a non sarcastic/satirical conversation about their decline and lack of effort you know it's bad.

AP is doing what taobao does and forgetting lolita, even sweet, isn't just about prints and looks; it's about the details that make things have that extra little oomph that normie clothes don't usually have anymore.

And while lolita isn't inherently synonymous with quality, there is something more otherworldly and fantastical about lolita clothes that have weight and mass and feel more like real clothes than the overly light and airy shiny polyester or poorly placed chiffon accents...we are so used to things that fall apart after a wear or feel itchy and cheap that stuff that feels built to last is more magical than elf ear fairy wing taobao styles.

>there is something more otherworldly and fantastical about lolita clothes that have weight and mass and feel more like real clothes
This, a million times.
Because even if I'm wearing a print that has a carousel made of cupcakes and ice cream, I still want to feel like I'm wearing real, honest clothing. I don't want it to be a costume. The point is that it IS clothing, and women can wear motifs that might otherwise be considered "too much"/"too young"/
too bright," without it being some cheap, throwaway princess outfit. It forces people to recognize it as valid, because it's taking itself serious. That's the whole magic of lolita for me, and my nostalgia for older AP.

>a self proclaimed AP whore like Tyler decides she prefers BABY
I'm 100% an AP whore and even though I agree that Baby's quality right now is leagues above AP, it still felt odd that she went on and on about being an AP whore... because I think there's a whole group of us that really only identify with AP, no matter how hard we try to like other brands. There's just nothing else that rivals it. Not trying to be critical, it was just weird, because I wish I could like Baby's sweet prints, but they just look too "mature" and dusty for me even if I recognize they are "better"?

I think it's a deliberate choice. They also did it with Dolly Damask -- the special set was in lavender, not one of the other colours released. The pricing wasn't much of a "discount" from buying the regular release with headbow either. It's really a different meaning for "special set", rather than a cheaper item, it's in very limited quantities and a different colour from regular release. I actually wouldn't be surprised if this Ice Cream Parlour special set here also isn't much cheaper than buying the regular, it's just "special" for being a rare colour and limited quantity.

Now on the other hand, I can't figure out the Jewelry Snow special set they uploaded last week. It's cheaper than the regular set? But looks like the regular set? And unlike ICP this definitely isn't a simple cut either. Where do you think they cut the corners on this one?

The lace still costs money though. It's even inserted into the princess seams, rather than just slapped on as an afterthought. Maybe it was a store exclusive that they had too much of? It's summer sale season after all.

Besides, it wouldn't be so obvious if they didn't upload it together with these two. Now, if you want to see a special set that's "simpler" and "cut cost", Jewelry Aquarium and Sweet Cherry Margaret both look it. Though, they're sub-20k yen so that's still a pretty good deal for a jsk + headwear set.

Fun little tidbit because I noticed on my AP USA order - you can see the exact time of purchase, and order numbers are sequential.

I placed two orders, 20 seconds apart. There were 17 orders between my two order numbers, so that means there was about one order placed every second.

This was for the Ice Cream Parlor re-release/jewelry release a few weeks ago. I think it's kind of cool that this quantifies AP's popularity a little bit. And those were only successful orders, not necessarily everyone who was trying, or even got the "Add to Cart" button to load.

Look at Daydream Bed special >>10449903 the design seems to be more elaborate with that ruffled collar, bigger bow and extra waist tie. Also if you look at Lolibrary, some specials just look like regular edition pieces. Look at the Kronos Utopia or Dream Cat Go Round sets, they bothered to give it the long sleeves even tho it takes more fabric than some go-to-misty-sky-jsk cut. I think it’s not only some cheaper option, just marking thing. Special editions are generally pretty popular in Japan, look at the rest of brands. Baby does kumyas in every shape and form, but they are usually tied to some specific event or store, so every pink leopard bow kumya is actually exclusive.

They used the same colour on the mook tote bag as well. I get that it's a cheaper product, but I still wonder why they went with this colour. Maybe it's significant to them? Maybe they tried for a second SC-type hit with the same colour but ended up with whatever set DDC was.

I feel like DDC is an anomaly though, it was their last big cash cow and they tried to milk it for a few years after. It may have been the last expanded set they did, there weren't just blouses, cutsews, parkas and totebags, there were brollies, wallets and nail stickers (lol). I’m actually surprised they haven’t done another DDC MTO. I own everything I want from the series so I’m not interested personally, but from what I can see the demand is still there and it guarantees AP money without needing to design anything new.

I exppected them to make an MTO after they released matching purses desu. AP likes dropping hints like that, but it never actually happened.

Not sure on my feelings about this. I'd probably hop on MTO bandwagon, but I rather see this print as more realistic substitute to Glass Bottle of Tears.

Well never too late, they could still be considering it

Did Romantic Perfume not check that box?

Navy and beige sold out in both cuts. I wouldn’t call that a flop.

I don't know why they bothered with the white. Navy and beige were the only 2 good colors. Navy would have been better with more detail like a real globe map with greens and browns in it mimicking an act planet I think but of course that would probably be too much detail.

The black detailing on white reminds me of Nazi uniforms. Not enough that I think it’s a big deal or bad, but still. That’s the first place my mind went. Something about the white piping on the black collar

Same anon, to be more clear: Nazis are obv very bad, but I’m saying AP isn’t bad and I’m sure they didn’t do it on purpose
