For the JSK t oddly enough doesn't go for a ton in general over the years despite being super cute. For western oldschoolers especially, a good chunk of them shop secondhand, it's still cheaper than buying firsthand even if you're after not-unpopoular pieces. I wouldn't bother comparing them to Baby's classic line, I don't think western oldschoolers are the ones buying those, so nevermind buying new stuff from MAM either.

ayrt here. It's just a smaller degree of the same thing. The dress that fits will still be much easier to work with and look cuter in.

I own a few high-waisted dresses and they all work with a specific cut of IW bolero plus a certain petticoat cut. There's some variety in swapping out the colours of IW boleros, but it's not nearly as versatile as the jsks that actually fit, which I can wear over, under a blouse/cardi/bolero/other, with different poof level/underskirts, and this leads to a lot more combinations of coords being possible.

So, still, the dress that fits you is just worth many more versatile coords.

Buy the other, cuter one if you just love it that much and are okay with the limitations. I mean, I can only wear my high-waist dresses one way, but I still pretty much love them, but at the same time I avoid any other high-waisted dresses because they just don't look good as easily as the just-waist dresses do.
