Just state what you want and stop making the buyers play guessing games and jump through hoops to give you money. The seller presumably doesn't want the item and would rather have money, the buyer wants the item and is willing to pay; if the price matches up you proceed but that's a transaction, not a favor. If either side wants the transaction to occur badly enough then they'll do what they can to make it happen. If a seller doesn't want to sell that badly then fine but don't pretend a seller is bending over backwards by emailing an anon to make some money selling them a dress they clearly don't want that much if they're willing to get rid of it.

I definitely tried my best to be super polite and very grateful and thank then for responding even if they said no because I appreciate them putting in the tine and energy to respond. I think most people don't seem to find it rude and I am grateful they can ease my mind about ut by responding at all even if they can't help me by selling the thing.

I've actually had them apologize to me for not wanting to sell which is crazy to me since I'm the one asking something of them and I make sure to tell them that they have no reason to apologize and that I'm happy they love their item and then usually they just wish me luck on my search.

I think outside of cgl and Facebook (and sometimes ig) lolitas are actually super kind and supportive and nice and not easily annoyed or miffed by reasonable behavior as long as people are not entitled or anything.

I've had people unprompted message and let me know they'd contact me first if they sell just because I was the second highest bidder on an auction and they were unsure about the item. And people contact me later on offering a discounted sale because we both bid on something and I let them win but they couldn't fit it. For many people it's just business, and asking them isn't worst a minor annoyance and at best gets you both what you want.

I think I am bad at replying to messages on LM unless they're urgent as a buyer (like if a seller says they sent my invoice I will pay right swsy but may not reply to them since they will get a paypal email anyway) so I always find it commendable when people reply to every message that isn't directly relevant to a transaction.

Honey Cake anon here, I agree with what everybody is saying about it being rude, and when I messaged around I acknowledged in my message that what I was doing was rude and that I was sorry if I upset them and that they may not want to reply. The reason I turned to messaging old buyers (not beyond 2017) and mass sellers was because I don't use social media and had been looking for the dress for years. I think just about everyone agreed doing it on insta is weird and obsessive. Most people defending it are prolly referring to sales platforms like LM. And they're not looking through an individual's bid history most likely; they probably are searching for the item in particular, viewing past listings, and then checking who won on the item they were searching for and contacting them, or for ones that never sold, checking if the seller still has it and wants to sell still.

You can disagree and feel that contacting people from old listings is rude, and you're totally valid if you feel that way, but I don't think anons here are defending Instagram stalking someone you see wearing a dress you want. If anyone is thinking that contacting strangers on social media is okay without it otherwise being stated that they accept those sorts of messages, of course those people are being massively inconsiderate, but no one was saying that at all.
