The last couple generals seem to be filling up faster lately. Kinda nice seeing the lolita threads more active. Cosplay threads are cool too but there's been so many of them with no real cosplay discussion as of late.

>Kinda nice to see the lolita threads more active.
If you're into shitflinging and newfags then sure. There's been a huge influx in newfags lately. The generals are filling up faster because they insist on posting their noob questions here instead of the stupid questions thread.

>> No.10431041

>>10431032

Eh. Stupid questions thread seems as active as ever (often on the first page). I think the tea party questions as well as the ideas for lolita sm took up a lot of the convo in the last thread which was all productive/nice to hear people's thoughts on.

I guess I don't care that much about people being new desu unless they try to pass themselves off as an expert or totally disregard rules or don't attempt to learn.

>> No.10431047

Last thread was nearly all productive discussions though. It’s not like it’s all newfags.

At this point I wonder if we should adapt how generals on some other boards operate. Ignoring the bump limit and using a thread till it’s on page 8 or 9.

The jewelry for Ice Cream Parlor was posted on AP Candy's instagram almost 2 months ago now. When does everyone think we might see it?

My anticipation grows every week.

>> No.10431067

The ice cream jewelry is cute but I’m dying for those ribbon and heart OTKs. Probably have a better chance of getting those, too.

>> No.10431070

>>10431067
Yeah I wanted basically every pastel colorway of those socks too (in the photo with the sax/pink OP).

I don't think there's really a better chance of getting the socks versus the jewelry though. Everything just sells lightening fast. Maybe the socks won't be scalped as high as the jewelry, but that's it.

>> No.10431071

>>10431070
Socks generally don’t sell out as fast in stores while jewelry usually sells out within the weekend if not the day. Everything will be gone online in seconds but that doesn’t mean sold out completely.

>> No.10431072

>>10431070

Depends on how much people like the jewelry. Some AP jewelry never sells out (not much of it but like the sweetie ribbon stuff has been in stock forever) and some socks sell out immediately like the princess logo in popular colors on the US site.

>> No.10431078

>>10431072
This is true generally speaking but I know you know the ice cream jewelry is going to be a bloodbath, so I’m not sure what your point is.

>> No.10431079

>>10431078

Certain pieces are definitely adorable and will sell out instantly but a couple of them feel a little off brand or less cute for APs usual style so I'm not super interested personally and I guess I was being self centered and imagining other people would not like every single piece either.

>> No.10431081

>>10431071
Yeah, I think the only chance overseas people have is an SS that can call stores. I'm just wondering when it's all going to happen because the post about the Neon Diner jewelry went up way after, but was released sooner. I kind of feel like it might be this week. But I've felt that way for the past several weeks.

>>10431072
I find that the unpopular AP jewelry is the metal/pearl based stuff, and it tends to lack uniqueness. All the cutesy resin jewelry always goes fast. I think it would be a little bit of oblivious to think that the pastel colorways of both the ice cream jewelry and the bow/heart socks won't be popular though.

This.
I'm not sure why people constantly understate the popularity of AP. It has to be really ugly or plain for it to not be a bloodbath. People will be clawing at each other for the ice cream jewelry. Just look at Milky Planet and Melting Ice-kun.

I still don't understand why they randomly rereleased the Magical Balloon necklace? It was completely random and so far there has been no sign of a rerelease of the print it belongs to. The Magical Balloon necklace. The original release was 6 years ago. AP just rereleased it. It belongs to the Magical Etoile series.

What I meant was that most of the time, if AP rereleased jewelry, it would be within months of the first release. Like with the Fancy Candy jewelry. It seemed more like a second round of production than a true rerelease.

AP rereleasing jewelry years later is rare.

I want more rereleases of sweet dresses, including all the accessories. Even HC didn’t include the socks, which seems like a weird choice because a lot of people who already own the dress would probably have gone in for a pair of socks or two. I would have.

>> No.10431114

Something I have noticed the last few years is that the western market is quite lacking in the resales of the new dresses released since 2017. They used to be very unpopular here, and so not many people have them. On LM the dominant selling dresses are either very old with multiple prior owners or brand new scalps. I feel like a majority of lolita now goes to China and sits in the wardrobes of Chinese girls. Can we please just start buying more stuff new? I know I'm not personally helping since I but 2-3 new directly from brand releases a year, but maybe the west can somehow get it together?

A lot of the newer stuff is also less popular with western lolitas in general. Though cgl isn't always an indication of popularity of things in the community at large.

No one needs to buy new releases just to feed the secondhand market. There is also the chance that people ARE buying these pieces but just keeping them instead of having high wardrobe turnover.

Some of their prints are hit or miss for me even if they had been cotton. I'm just not feeling a large number of new AP releases. It's good the designers are exploring and there is a lot of variety in things but it's jsut not my personal style regardless of material for certain pieces.

>> No.10431122

>>10431119
I think a big problem also is resale value. If you sell something like Day Dream Carnival or OG Honey Cake, you can get above retail. If you buy, say, Royal Crown Berry direct from AP and decide you don’t like it, you might as well keep it because no one’s going to buy it off you for retail, even NWT.

>> No.10431124

>>10431121
The only dress I’ve bought from AP this year was Chateau d’ecume and I weep at how beautiful it would have been on cotton. Hell, even higher quality poly. I might have bought prints I wasn’t crazy about if the material was nicer, but when the quality is this bad I barely even want to but prints I love.

>> No.10431127

>>10431122
I don't think people are thinking about resale value when they are buying a new dress direct from AP. At least, I don't think they should be.

I really think it's the reduction in quality and odd design choices. AP doesn't really have it's signature "look" anymore, and a lot of westerners, myself included, don't like it,

>> No.10431128

>>10431120
Ayrt I knew the moment I saw them that they're going to be a bloodbath, I think gulls have been fawning over these since they were first posted too. I hope AP will have a more generous stock this time so more people can get them, but that's probably just wishful thinking.

They won’t, but I wish they’d do some kind of 2010s sweet revival month and rerelease a different holy grail dress every week, like Milky Planet and Jewelry Jelly. I’d throw so much money at them but instead we get yet another Melody Toys rerelease. It’s cute, but I think we all want to see other prints rereleased.

>> No.10431130

>>10431127

That is personally how I feel. AP losing it's signature look. Ice Cream Parlor was a return to that and people loved it but because they like it so much it's not resold as much either.

BABY still seems to sort of stick to their usual style and materials and I like a lot of their pieces but little really exists right now on par with 2010 AP sweet which us why so much of us are thirsty for rereleases. That one Lolitas and Colitas unicorn macaron dress is the closest I've seen from taobao and that's about it so there are more benefits to buying secondhand old AP like price and quality on top of style just making it more convenient to do than buying direct anymore.

>> No.10431132

>>10431128

Nayrt but have you seen that comparison someone did with twinkle mermaid or a similar princess marine themed print with Chateau de Ecume and another similar dress? It’s terrible, anon. Just because polyester is plastic doesn’t mean it should feel like plastic. It’s really shiny, forms creases that take hours to steam out if I barely touch it, and it’s got that weird stiff limpness that makes it drape oddly. I really loved the print and it was sort of my consolation for not being able to snag Twinkle Mermaid (still hoping) but if this is the way AP is going I’m going to have to pass, even if the print is cute.

The low stock/production run size of AP has been talked about a lot lately and I have some ideas about it. AP (and most lolita brands) have products that are a lot different from most normie fashion and take a lot more hand sewing, there are a ton more seams on an AP dress than a normie dress, and even more when you look at the older garments from 10 years ago. I would be willing to bet the number of garment factories willing to take the job and guarantee a decent level of quality is not that high. I could see AP having limited choices and may have to choose between, say, a factory that will make 1000 pieces, and a factory that won’t do it for less than a 10,000 piece order. Or they find a factory than will deliver the number they want but they can’t do all the details. I’m assuming issues like these are the real reason they don’t make more or quality has gone down/dresses have much simpler designs, they’ve moved production a lot in the past few years which indicates issues; I have a hard time believing it’s because after 20 years in the business all of a sudden they’ve stopped caring. Just my theory

AP did release a basic headbow recently and it’s been over a week with all colors still in stock. Like sure it could sell well in the future but not a single color being sold out by now isn’t a great sign and probably why they don’t normally stock basic headbows.

finally someone using some big brain theories. It would also explain why normie fast fashion is devoid of any shape, form fitting seams, shit quality and wild ranging letter sizes. If thats what clothing factories are producing lately, no way in hell they're going to want to do anything as intricate as old AP for the old AP price point. Another theory is as time has passed, the garment designers at AP have probably moved on and not been replaced by anyone of the same caliber.

And anything they did with bears except maybe Teddy Chocolatier, with Gobelin Teddy being my number one.

For anyone the time to weed through the wa and experimental/questionable pieces Meta is a solid brand. Not all their prints are sugary AP 2010 sweet or the sweet classic look of many Baby pieces but the few things I own of Meta I love the cuts and detailing and fit of.

labeling is very deceptive. Thats not even remotely true. You clearly either do not do art or have any tattoos and havent worked with tattoo artists. The subject matter is not the issue, no one cares that its lyrical bunny. What are you even talking about? It's only illegal if it's being sold and someone is making money off of it.
In this case none of that is true. Tokimeki drew the design and paid for the service of having it tattoo'd on her body. Tokimeki isn't making money off of the design or selling it. The person who tattoo'd it doesn't get to keep the design or sell it, and was providing a service to put it on her body.
