What I meant was that most of the time, if AP rereleased jewelry, it would be within months of the first release. Like with the Fancy Candy jewelry. It seemed more like a second round of production than a true rerelease.

AP rereleasing jewelry years later is rare.

Something I have noticed the last few years is that the western market is quite lacking in the resales of the new dresses released since 2017. They used to be very unpopular here, and so not many people have them. On LM the dominant selling dresses are either very old with multiple prior owners or brand new scalps. I feel like a majority of lolita now goes to China and sits in the wardrobes of Chinese girls. Can we please just start buying more stuff new? I know I'm not personally helping since I but 2-3 new directly from brand releases a year, but maybe the west can somehow get it together?

Some of their prints are hit or miss for me even if they had been cotton. I'm just not feeling a large number of new AP releases. It's good the designers are exploring and there is a lot of variety in things but it's jsut not my personal style regardless of material for certain pieces.

I think a big problem also is resale value. If you sell something like Day Dream Carnival or OG Honey Cake, you can get above retail. That is personally how I feel. AP losing it's signature look. Ice Cream Parlor was a return to that and people loved it but because they like it so much it's not resold as much either.

BABY still seems to sort of stick to their usual style and materials and I like a lot of their pieces but little really exists right now on par with 2010 AP sweet which us why so much of us are thirsty for rereleases. That one Lolitas and Colitas unicorn macaron dress is the closest I've seen from taobao and that's about it so there are more benefits to buying secondhand old AP like price and quality on top of style just making it more convenient to do than buying direct anymore.

It’s terrible, anon. Just because polyester is plastic doesn’t mean it should feel like plastic. It’s really shiny, forms creases that take hours to steam out if I barely touch it, and it’s got that weird stiff limpness that makes it drape oddly. I really loved the print and it was sort of my consolation for not being able to snag Twinkle Mermaid (still hoping) but if this is the way AP is going I’m going to have to pass, even if the print is cute.

The low stock/production run size of AP has been talked about a lot lately and I have some ideas about it. AP (and most lolita brands) have products that are a lot different from most normie fashion and take a lot more hand sewing, there are a ton more seams on an AP dress than a normie dress, and even more when you look at the older garments from 10 years ago. I would be willing to bet the number of garment factories willing to take the job and guarantee a decent level of quality is not that high. I could see AP having limited choices and may have to choose between, say, a factory that will make 1000 pieces, and a factory that won’t do it for less than a 10,000 piece order. Or they find a factory than will deliver the number they want but they can’t do all the details. I’m assuming issues like these are the real reason they don’t make more or quality has gone down/dresses have much simpler designs, they’ve moved production a lot in the past few years which indicates issues; I have a hard time believing it’s because after 20 years in the business all of a sudden they’ve stopped caring. Just my theory

I never even liked their weird stuff, I always loved their fully shirred bodices on JSKs with solids, simple prints, or tartan (I hate the contrasting back bustle on shirring princess JSKs with a burning passion and Meta stuff is a little long on me which I love to keep my legs covered in winter or summer when the sun burns even through sunscreen).

And anything they did with bears except maybe Teddy Chocolatier, with Gobelin Teddy being my number one.

For anyone the time to weed through the wa and experimental/questionable pieces Meta is a solid brand. Not all their prints are sugary AP 2010 sweet or the sweet classic look of many Baby pieces but the few things I own of Meta I love the cuts and detailing and fit of.

"made in x" means that the item you bought, in this case the dress, was made there, but nothing else. fabric, trim, thread etc could be made anywhere else and they don't need to disclose on the label, because the product you're buying is the dress not the parts. it's a trick to try assert quality. this is also why items will say "designed in x, made in y", to try to trick the consumer into thinking that the item is going to be better since it was designed by the parent company.
