Divinecross wrote a blog post about how she feels that Moitie has fallen from grace. What do gulls think about it?

>> No.10419000

I feel like I'd agee with her, but it's really chaotic and disjointed, makes it really hard to get through. It feels like more casual version of an essey that had to hit a word count. If she made it shorter and more concentrated I feel like it would be a good opinion piece.

>> No.10419040

>>10418975
That was a read. I saw that she’s not a native English speaker so I’m not gonna be mean but it was definitely very rambly and jumped all over the place.

Moitie lost my money when they continued to use fur year after year it just disgusts me, but I agree that the designs now aren’t what they used to be. Sizing isn’t personally a concern I have but I do miss all the detail older pieces had.

Tbh, I think the main problem with Moitié is that they are not having a designer. Because they don’t have one they aren’t really making any nice new things, it is probably why they are also doing so many re-releases and generic accessories. I also agree with her that what they release is a bit blend. It is more Classic than Gothic and if you look at the second hand listings, it is the Gothic stuff that really sells. Even with the high prices the stuff is gone pretty quickly. So what they would need in my opinion is like a good Designer that makes Gothic/Old School Gothic Lolita stuff. And I fear they won’t find a designer if they keep having their focus on finding a designer which also has a degree in Graphic Art.
I also do not understand why they are so focussed on finding one that has a degree in Graphic Art. Compared to Angelic Pretty and Alice and the Pirates, Moitié has never really been a brand that made original prints. Most of their designs used generic prints and fabrics and from their original prints most stuff looks like they got some existing artwork and editted things out or photoshopped things together. It aren’t really prints like Cat’s Tea Party that really meed some one with good illustration skills, if you know what I mean.

Quality issues aside, for me the biggest problem with neomoitie is that they want to be trendy and forcefully increase their customer base. A part of community thinks good print=good dress? We will do mostly prints. Taobao is selling? We will collab with a taobao brand. Community thinks that edgy is good? We will make terrible chockers. Weebs wear lolita? Hatsune Miku I guess collab I dunno. All that while being as cheap as possible, without making any investments in what they actual client base might want(fucking shoes).
Moitie, for me, always had a brand in itself. You could look at their pieces from 2004 and 2015 and still go, yeah that's MMM. They had this sense of continuity, their identity was in their classy, elegant designs, that still remained gothic, even if they utilized sweet or classic elements. When the discussion about that chocker began, people were saying that gothic brands did something like that before, but the problem is, it wasn't moitie. That would be boz, Alice Aaua, or more general jgoth and punk brands, not EGL Moitie. They still have nice pieces, and I have to say I tend to grow more fond of them after watching their instagram stream, they look good there, but I feel like they lack this identity that they had before.

>> No.10419114

>>10418975
People like her are exhausting because she thinks she knows it all since she "been a fan" for a long time. But we can break it down

>1. Headdress vs Hat
Bad example since the price is the "same" but for different reasons. I think the hat is stupid but the price is partly for the base, and they have put out similar stupid hats before. Logo Button Hat is from 2005 and is literally a hat with some buttons. Should have compared it to a headdress to be a real comparison. Also technically a piece from 2009 is not actually that price retail because of inflation, but that I can let slide since it should be similar 2ndhand anyways.

>2. Issue with having no designer/releases
She even acknowledges this is a getting better, but she doesnt have much of a point. Obviously without a designer they were struggling but she clearly didnt research much about this when she posted since it doesnt match atm stuff and should have been axed as a paragraph. Clearly its more than just if the brand has the patterns to rerelease stuff, it sounds like they need permission too. As well I dont think brands are keeping items like she thinks they are, especially not smaller brands People also do want older stuff but they are making new older stuff, even the cross pins are new items. She barely goes into anything of substance here.

>3. Social Media
Again old news, the Salon is closed. Tbh she needs to realize that what Mana did 20 years ago doesnt mean he wants to do it now. The internet and him has aged. He clearly enjoys making silly videos but doesnt want to do stuff for a club like essays or diaries.

>4. New corset
Bad comparison again, it isnt that hard to look up other corsets and see that a ton were also plain generic stuff back then too. Example is Polka Dot Lace Bustier. Quality wise the new one actually looks better constructed as is closer to a real corset than a fabric belt. Sadly not steel boning but comparable to abitellege which does similar style stuff.

Yeah I was just referring to statements I've seen on cgl about fabrics bleeding from both brands (despite me never having a fabric bleed on me no matter how new or old or red the dye was, and I only buy cotton pieces).

That's why I think people are just fucking up while washing their clothes? It makes little sense that I've purchased items secondhand with damage the owner described as catastrophic that they took to a professional to clean but nothing came out, and then I hit it with some oxyclean once and it looks brand new (same for yellow lace sometimes, be prepared for your off white ans ivory lace dresses to actually have bright white lace after the first wash)

I did once have a non brand American vintage item from Village Vanguard or a similar looking place at a mall that had strawberries on white fabric bleed when I wore it out and sweat a lot in Japan, and none of my attempts to launder in Japan got it clean but the second I washed it back home in the US with an oxygen bleach/whites and brights product and my usual American detergent brand, it came totally clean and never bled again.

>Ha have you ever tried dealing with Baby's prints bleeding? Absolute nightmare, I've tried my Dylon color run remover and it still doesn't work.

Maybe your product isn't as powerful on certain dyes? I've bought secondhand BABY cotton pieces with horrible running of red all over it and washed it once on warm or hot with oxyclean and a basic detergent and it was like new.

And ones I've bought new or like new and washed myself from the start never bled in the first place (I wash my lolita pieces alone normally with a little oxy on warm for their first washes and then wash them together with like colors after that) I am a daily and love berry prints so I'm not talking out of my ass; I have never had issues with bleeding or removing bleeding from secondhand pieces from either BABY or AP cotton.

Did anyone's order from AP USA ship yet (for the new release on Friday, 6/19)?

I got a tracking number but it's just at the "label created" stage with no tracking events. I thought it was kind of fishy that they gave me tracking on Sunday because on Friday it was "sourcing from JP warehouse" and I'm not aware of any shipping methods that would be that fast/deliver on weekends. I was planning on emailing them tomorrow afternoon if the tracking still hasn't updated.

I never said I was pissed off at AP or anything. I got an email along with the tracking number saying my order was "In Transit," so when the two pieces of information misaligned, of course I'm going to be wondering. They could have easily left the status of my shipment as "sourcing from JP warehouse." I'm happy to wait.

not that anon but a few years ago, I guess some anon got super sick of people claiming they couldn't fit dresses cause of big boobs and decided to theorize that all the anons here who complain about having big tits are actually just giant cows and that's the "real" reason the dress doesn't fit.

Before I saw that in a thread the big boob excuse for not fitting into something was quite popular and pretty well accepted cause it's a realistic issue that a lot of girls in lolita have.
But then so is being just too fat for a dress so it's easier for anons to latch onto hating on fats as opposed to trying to tear down big titted girls.

My experience with DHL is limited to CC (Japan to USA). Shipping, no matter the size or weight, started at $20. (I'm a crazy person and I've been buying $30 AP jewelry on CC and shipping with DHL since that's the only option, and shipping is always $20. Still comes out to a better price than the 2nd hand market).

I think shipping prices go up really fast based on weight and size, because I also had CC ship all my backlogged items from before COVID and that was $40-50.for 12 items (2 blouses, 10 accessories).

The good thing is that both times, it took only 3 days to get to me. It's the fastest shipping I've encountered (faster than Yamato, even though I prefer Yamato's pricing) and I haven't had to pay any customs for any orders below $800.
