She's cute. Her color palette is quite good, her design is not bad, the game is popular by itself,she has a lot of meme poses, she's one of the most popular character of the game, it's not hard to buy everything for her cosplay, it's an easily recognizable character which is good for social media, she carries that otaku vibe with her and I guess that she's quite charismatic in game. She's not the damsel in distress type, as she is independent and strong in game and in lore.

Or maybe because her character was super OP before they nuked her so lots of casual gamers, women and men included mained her for the longest time. Plus she's cute and has a bunny theme, girls (and guys, especially weebs and gamers) LOVE cute shit.

And cosplaying her is easy if you're a girl and not fat because you buy one suit, a gun, face paint, and some accessories. You don't have to be an attention whore to find a character like this appealing, and of course one that's so easy to cosplay will appeal to casuals or newbies to cosplay as much as other gamers or cosplayers.

I really wanna see someone come up with a D.Va cosplay that comes with the mech, like id Adam Savage did one of his one day builds of the mech and had a female friend cosplay D.Va, that would look awesome and be more of a challenge to execute.
