So after doing some research I finally figured out that the dark girly style in pic related is called Jirai Onna kei (地雷女) which translates to landmine woman. I came across the term when looking at Japanese makeup videos.

Back then a lot of shops carried clothing based off Western punk wear, especially tops and jackets. So, that's where you see a lot of leather jackets, tank tops, and the ilk.

The skirt/short styles she wears though was kind of unique to Japan in the early 2000's.

The other thing I thought of, Balzac maybe being the easiest to find, usually it was only the band members who dressed super crazy. When you watch old videos of punk shows in Japan, the audience is usually rather plainly dressed with many even just wearing their school uniforms or t-shirt/jeans.

I was mainly asking because I had a notion of what Akiba kei entails but I saw someone reply with a pic of an outfit (that didn't fit my idea of akiba Kei) with an anime print shirt, and another anon replying about anime clothing. So I didn't think they were all talking about the same style.

i've only ever bought shoes from them and they surpass shoes from made from that gross soft pleather by a long shot, whilst having some nice padding. Dear My Love has always been a pretty cheap brand. Their stuff is not the highest quality. Some of their offshoot brands had slightly better quality though.
