Its already known that the coronavirus crisis will affect the economy and daily life of many countries, so how do you guys think this will affect the lolita community? Will comms not meet up physically anymore for a while? Will people keep buying and selling lolita items or would lolitas be more cautious with their spending habits? How are you handling the situation or how is your local comm dealing with it?

I'm a lonelita so I didn't have any meets to go to in the first place. I have just been laid off from my job though, so until I get another one (currently looking and applying, though I'm not too optimistic considering most industries are suffering due to the scare), I won't be spending much on lolita or frivolous things in general. I imagine most others won't be either, which is unfortunate because I was actually just about to list a lot of my lolita for sale. But it's alright, I can wait. I just hope everything gets better soon.

my country doesn't have it too bad right now so we're still planning meets, especially since most meets (with the exception of our xmas and swap meets) rarely have more than 10 people show up.

I'm a lonelita in quarantine and will be working from home for the coming months. I'm pulling the trigger on buying a velour track suit (not with a gaudy print or in a bright color) and will spend my time curating my wardrobe and selling things I don't wear, gardening, and doing a lot of crafts and reading. I have an order for new furniture coming in, a new desk set-up that will make it more comfortable to do video conferences for work.

Yup. As much as I know my finances are secure, I know there are plenty of lolitas who don't bother saving money for "rainy days" like unemployment. Plenty of them don't even have enough money for minor problems like vet bills. I foresee a lot of panic-selling in the near future by people who need to make ends meet. The biggest travesty is going to be the impact on brands.

my comm normally isn't active much in the summer because of cons, though with this crisis im pretty sure we won't see activity at all until after summertime.

works out for me though, i took a break this year off buying lolita to pay off credit cards. the coronavirus ended up just being an additional reason to be frugal.

i like the idea of virtual meets, and i feel like this will be more motivation for me to stream my game playing in lolita since there isn't really meetups at this point in time.

I have the feeling that things will calm down by summer and stuff will go back to 'normal', but it'll take time for niche hobbies to recover and bounce back from not having meets at all
