Accessories (crosses, horns, red/black roses) and darker makeup, also I've noticed that purely goth coords tend to have less frills on the main piece and blouse compared to what you'd see in gothic or sweet

There are literally exceptions to every single feature listed here so it's really more of an overall appearance than a checklist, but this might help you a bit.

Sweet tends to have
>Lots of bows
>Lots of lace
>Puff sleeves
>Peterpan collars

Classic tends to have
>Pintucks
>High neck collars
>Simple necklines
>Moderate amount of lace/bows
>More mature design features like peplums

Gothic tends to have
>Pointed collars or otherwise quite dramatic necklines, sometimes square
>Can either have very minimal lace or a ton
>Hardly any bows or very simple bows
>Asymmetry is not uncommon

1-Classic
2-Can’t see the most important parts, but classic or more likely gothic
3-Sweet. I think she’s wearing Liz Lisa shoes???
4-I think she was going for old-school gothic since I think that’s a rosary, but the argument could be made for anything. Seeing the shoes would help.
5-Classic or Gothic. I can’t see half the coord.
6-Gothic
7-I think she usually wears gothic but the argument could be made for classic
8-She’s a goth
9-This is extremely sweet, anon
10-Accessories are saying gothic, but this does have a sweet vibe
11-Classic or gothic, could really go either way
12-Looks like the intention is gothic

Sometimes coords sit in a space between and that’s okay.

>> No.10326843

>>10326791
Thank you, I see what you mean! I can see more clearly the difference between them now. Though there's three that I'm still trying to figure out.

> 1-Classic
Since the main theme of the print is crosses, I figured it'd lean more towards gothic than classic. Is there something about the styling that makes it less gothic?

> 9-This is extremely sweet, anon
Is it the pigtails that make this one sweet? I figured with the color palette, rosary, and cross theming that it wasn't sweet.

> 10-Accessories are saying gothic, but this does have a sweet vibe
Would the excess ruffles be the sweet aspect?

>> No.10326859

>>10326843
Crosses and religious themes don’t necessarily mean gothic. Angelic Pretty does a lot of cross prints, but everything they put out is sweet (if you ever want to derail a thread, ask about Holy Lantern). Classic also does a lot of religious prints, but they are meant to be reminiscent of antique art.

In 1, the coordinate has a very classic based styling and the JSK itself uses classic colors and *antique art* religious motifs. Gothic lolita religious motifs are usually victorian in aesthetic and meant to give off a creepy vibe, not a “just walked into a fancy cathedral” vibe. Think haunted cathedral for gothic.

In 9, the pigtails, the ruffles, the apron, the head eating alice bow, the size and shape of the bows. All of this together is especially sweet. Picture this coordinate, but the black parts being white. Would that make you think gothic?

In fact, that may be a good rule of thumb for a while. Try picturing a coordinate in white and see if it changes whether or not you think it’s goth. Gothic lolita can and frequently does come in white, so it’s not far fetched.

How to tell a-line skirt from cupcake skirt?

>> No.10327087

>>10327084
The very best way to get to know the difference is with a little trial and error in person just seeing which skirt looks better with which type of petti.

Failing that, look at stock pictures and the shape the skirt makes; is it rounded like a bell or a straight flare from the waist?

Generally sack dresses and dresses with no gathering at the waist are going to want an a-line. Dresses/skirts with a lot of gathering at the waist are often going to want a cupcake. Classic dresses usually want a-line and sweet dresses often (but not always) want cupcake. It depends though.

Buttcape has a little bit, and there’s iiralina, who wears a lot of feminine aristocrat. Iiralina is really good to look at. Unfortunately, there isn’t a huge amount out there, as aristo in either version is much less common than say lolita, especially the feminine version. Your best bet is to just keep looking at photos of brands like Moitie (older rather than post revival) and Atelier Boz, especially the latter, Boz are active on Facebook, and have a couple of pages for the Osaka and Nagoya stores, and they also have active blogs (the fb pages are basically crossposts from these) that can be found via their web shop. While they don’t discuss the style, looking at how they put outfits together and accessories them is a good way to learn. I wear aristocrat mainly and think there’s a woefully small amount of resources out there, and of some of what’s there is outdated and/or not good advice.

Rectangle skirts are cupcakes. Usually every other (flared, tiered) skirt is A-line.

Most border prints are printed straight along one side of the fabric. To make them into skirts, you'd make rectangle skirts out of them. So most border prints are rectangle skirts (cupcakes).

The exception is polyester. Some weaves drape really, really, really, really well, especially if it's burando. Those border prints will generally look okay with both cupcake or A-line petticoat, simply because of their drape.

how would i style a wig like this? i know the ponytails aren't just clips because they're both stock pictures for the same wig, left is just unstyled. i'm not sure how they made the ponytails so short and high up, they don't seem to have trimmed it.

Yeah Metamorphose makes some. But for me as a busty chan the real problem is wearing a top when you’re busty and/or fat. Most lolita blouse aren’t cut right for someone with big boobs (seven if they’re big enough they’re not shakes right) so they either fit ok in the waist but not the bust or vice versa. Gapping buttons or a floating waist are both not ok to me. Cute cutsews exist but they usually run small, especially in the arm cuffs. Even if they fit they’re tight and cling to curves. All around the skirt and top combo ends up being a bad look. Lack of tops is what keeps me from wearing my skirts.

How much money should I save if I want to commission a dress?

>> No.10328502

>>10328491
Depends on the complexity of the piece and the cost of materials. For example, the picture you posted is a rather simple dress design but that kind of fabric can easily cost $100 a yard, and the commissioner will need at least 4 yards of it for that design. In general, expect to pay at least $400-500, with the price going up for complex parts and expensive fabrics. Most commissioners will gladly give you a rough quote for what you have in mind.

Sleepless nights ・・・

1 Sheep ... 2 sheep ... and counting ... falling asleep ・・・・・

This sheep which sleeps in a seemingly happy look is also a lost sheep in fact
7. I still want to be a child, but I want to be a troubled: it is about the year .

The legendary creature "Dream good tapir" appears in the source of such a cub.

The bad dream-eating tapir is now aimed at this sheep

It came from the other side of the sky .
But there is nothing terrible in the face beside the lamb ・・・・・・

The wolf in sheep's clothing was on the lookout .

Okay. okay.

A wolf with a sheep, a Dream-Eater, and a sheep's skin.

Each of the lucky lives...?

This werewolf might look the same.

It may be that both sheep and tapirs are targeted.

In fact, I think about the lamb

Eating bad dreams and paying attention to evil.

I mistook him for a sheep, and I hid myself in the sheep's skin.

It may be that you are protecting the cub thing at night without sleeping at night .
Baku should have been aiming at the lamb.

I never imagined myself being targeted.
Who is targeting Who and who is defending who

It's not something that you see in a glance

If you change your stance, the world you see will change.

And there is a feeling that the truth is something that can not be conveyed easily"

Originally, we wanted our customers to make a sheep pattern

And I started to think about it

I think sheep are the only ones that don't have a twist.

From the thought of the past, the target of the position of Bata and the Wolf are also made to appear

Just a picture of a genre called " pastelgos."

It was a period of time when I was watching closely

I painted the windows and sofas of Gothic taste with a strong black line

I thought to try on a pattern with a phantom pastel color.

The silver and gold glitter found its way into the delicate fabric.

It was a beautiful and sparkling pattern.
(You won't make any more of this pastel pattern

In a world that's fantastical and glittery

No color

The world we see and its truth is different.

It contains a little skin meat .

It's like a bubble popping bubble popping out of a dream.

- Even if it disappears, it will swell again and repeat again.

I think that we continue to see .

Dream Eater Baku is watching over this world from the sky today.

If you show up night after night without knowing it, you will surely eat a bad dream

Please, May we have a good dream now. ・・・・・

How does wish get such good reviews on their MM replica dresses? Do they do something shifty for the good reviews or do people have no taste?

>> No.10330134

>>10330126

You don't even need fake reviews. Think about itas and how they look in the mirror and apparently don't realise they look like complete trashfire fuel. They probably wouldn't recognise the dress is crap until you point it out.

Then think about the number of itas who, once you point it out, go into full denial mode and start explaining they knew the dress was cheap but it makes them happy and apparently that's all that matters. The keyword you really want here is "denial" -- they just spent good money on a crap dress and got told they look like trash so they're going to deny any of this, including that the dress is crap.

And that's not even including the number of weebs who weren't even looking for a lolita dress, just wanted a cosplay costume to play maido in, and are fully happy if they get a burlap sack with some ruffles hotglued on.

Is there some kind of delay with Japan post right now? I bought a dress from closet child on Saturday, which they shipped and sent me tracking for on Sunday night. It's now Thursday and it's been stuck at 'picked up' on both japan and my country's tracking tools since then, which is bizarre because usually an EMS package would have gotten to me by now or at least be in my country.

I know CC's website says wait 2 weeks to contact them and I don't want to jump to assuming it's lost, but I'm starting to wonder if they just sent me the wrong tracking number? Should I contact them? If it's not damaged, you should base your price on the market, not what you paid. So if three of the same dress sold between $300 and $400 over the last year you know you should price it in that range, even if you paid $250 or $500. The key isn't really what goes with black, it's maintaining a decent colour scheme. Chose one, either balance the colour a few times through the outfit, or do a pop of colour.

balance the colour: at bare minimum your shoes or legwear should perfectly match your blouse in your chosen colour. Bonus if you can also add a perfectly matching bow (easier to find) and a bag. Do not play 50 shades, the colours should match as close as possibly to show they go together. Bonus points if the print (on anything) combines both black and your chosen colour). That way the colour is repeated in a balanced way throughout your outfit.

Pop of colour: You need a statement piece (just one), which is the colourful item. Don't make your blouse the statement piece, it should be something that's worth staring at as all attention will be on it rather than the rest of your coord. The rest of your coord is just black. Upside, no need to look for matching blouse+shoes. Downside, your statement piece has be worth it, don't use some tiny brooch that will get lost in your outfit, and don't use some regretsy-tier craftmom object.

As for what colours goes with it, black goes with almost anything. There's really only one group of earth tone neutrals you need to avoid (so, avoid browns, khakis, darker beiges, "nude" "skintone" colours (all of them, even the poc colours), etc).

If you're really lost and you really do not want to do pink or red, I'd suggest lolita navy -- half the releases now seem to come in that colour so it'd be easy to find blouses, shoes, bag, bows, etc etc in that colour. Just try to stick to lolita brands, normie brands tend to vary wildly with their navy colourways (there's also very old IW that you should avoid but they're hard to find anyways).

Other jewel tones are good colours as well -- purple and forest green, but it's going to be much harder finding perfect matching shoes and blouse sets for those.

Are flip flops lolita? Are converse? What about bowling shoes? You asked my opinion and it's that they look ugly as fuck and don't match any lolita substyle. Even in EGA, they would just bring down your whole coord.

>> No.10330485

>>10330448
It depends what substyle you wear and what the specific shoes are like. Are they a flat, traditional winklepicker boot? Or are they heeled? I’ve seen stilettos worn to great effect in gothic or classic coords. I use a pointy toed calf height boot a lot that has a narrow heel and it works well with longer cut dress or skirt, especially in EGA looks. With sweet style however it would absolutely not work. A flat traditional winklepicker though wouldn’t work with any style.

Can you post a photo of what you have in mind?

Those are really cool. As the other anon who liked these said, they should work with some things, especially with more of a gothic or aristocrat look. Experiment, see what works.
