What is a cosplay that is easy and can't be fucked up for those just getting into it?

Ryu from Street Fighter. You can get a white karate gi from any martial arts shop. Or if you are feeling up to get get a red one online and be Ken.

Cody from Final Fight. That’s pretty easy. Unless you got Guy or Haggar with you, don’t be surprised if no one knows who you are.

only good answer in this thread. I wouldn't recommend "low effort" and overly simple cosplays composed of normie clothes for beginners because that's a slippery slope into shitty closet cosplays. if you wanna pull of super simple cosplays you need to pay a lot of attention to cleanness, decent makeup and hair.

>> No.10293645

Idk if this is a good thread to ask, but if I wanted to do a Fl4k cosplay (borderlands 3)-
Is that cel shading effect a realistic goal?
How would you dirty up/season and accentuate cloth colors? Airbrush? Soaking in pigmented water?
How do you make cosplays that aren't sweaty as fuck to wear?

I have painting experience but not cosplay experience, so I get how lighting and color interact but textiles are confusing to me

p3 Joseph Joestar. Its pretty closet and common (he was the most cosplayed JoJo character at my last con) but still simple to put together and wear around all day.
You can even use El Wire for Hermit Purple

I did a closet cosplay of Ness that cost less than $10. Most people have blue shorts, white socks and red shoes. Just had to buy the hat and a striped shirt from a thrift store

It's amazing at how some cosplays could seem so incredibly simple, and yet still have something about it that makes it complicated. Pic unrelated.

I would also suggest something insanely popular, because you're able to get high quality replicas and premade wigs. Like Sailor Moon, Naruto, Bleach, ect. The series that were the highest selling in their field at some point.

I mean I can do the basics, but I'm certainly far from beeing a pro on the sewing machine.
So far I mostly changed the cut of existing clothes to fit me better, but I stayed away from more complex stuff.
Plus there aren't many male characters in roughly my height I could cosplay as.
So I would either need to pull of some generic character or hope that I find one that is male, my height and somewhat looks like me.

Characters in realistic anime, school students, drama series, sports, etc. Most of my cosplay are stuff I can pull out of my or someone else's closet. Think Takumi from Inital D, Light from Death Note, or Konata from Lucky Star. Avoiding cosplay with special make up or crazy hair styles or colors should also help.

I've seen a lot of cosplays in the past few years made out of uniforms people got from army surplus stores. If you have the money for it it's both easy to assemble and looks sophisticated enough to where people will think you tried.

I hate how wearing glasses limits my options for masks and helmets. I'm considering contacts because of it.
I'm currently toying with a design for a helmetless visor that will have a strap to keep it in place and supports to keep it further from the face enough to fit my glasses. Anyway, I'd like to know two things. First, is there a way to harden paper and make it look smooth like plastic? Second, I want to go for a light up look like in pic related. How do I do that? I want the transparent part to be brightly lit but also not blind me.

>> No.10321771

>>10321027
Either suck it up and just cosplay who you want and ignore the haters, or cosplay characters that wear a mask or helmet. Or get super crafty and do Godzilla or other kaiju.
Personally I go with option one because I’m never going to be a moe anime girl, but all my favorite characters are moe anime girls and I’ll be damned if I can’t cosplay my faves.
>>10321212
As far as I know you can’t do that with paper, but you could make a visor with plastic or resin. For plastic sheets, you’d need a heat gun to shape it (and maybe a bowl in a shape smaller than what you want so it turns out smooth), you’d also want to file the edges somthey don’t cut you and may need varnish to polish it after to make sure it’s actually transparent. With resin you’d need to make a mold of the shape you want, then file/sand out imperfections after it cures and then polish to ensure transparency (this sounds easier than it is, resin is super finicky and could bubble it will be extremely trial and error at first).
I recommend searching YouTube for some tutorials, there are some professional level cosplay tutorials on there and it’s where I learned most of what I know about foam crafting.
Also, contacts are never a bad idea for cosplay purposes. Just make sure you listen to your optometrist about how to care for them and don’t wear them for longer than recommended.
