The old thread died (>>10283357) but Moitié is forever.

>> No.10314340

Do you think we could petition a print similar to Iron Gate? I would think if bootleg replica fabric has been made, they can reprint the dress to some extent.

>> No.10314343

I'd happily jump on the bandwagon for some high waisted jsk with gate print. Although have people done a petition like this before? Does Moitie react at those in any way?

They already did Royal Gate as a response to people begging for an Iron Gate-like print, but that one got a lot of hate

It's a matter of taste I guess. If you're an IG owner, do not worry about the market value. It might be different, so original piece may keep a chunk of the price like it was with HC.

My concern is that the previous time a brand attempted a scan and remaster, the rerelease was significantly worse. With Moitie's recent decline in quality, that really worries me... Whereas they probably still have the files for Royal Gate and so could do a printed version very easily. But we could always ask for both like "please Iron Gate but if not then printed Royal Gate"

>> No.10314460

Really? I seem to recall it being extremely popular at release, I never heard anything about it shedding.

I love RG and still thirst for it in black x black but I'm not devoted enough for what it still goes for. I'd love a rerelease though, flocked or print.

Yes, it is like on the picture. The original was more of a dark olive green with a dark golden print and an elegant long bodice. The new one is emerald green with a light golden (almost yellow print) and the waist sits quite high. I was so disappointed with the rerelease, I sold mine as soon as I got it.

Actually I thought that the girl by the right is wearing original release, like they didn’t manage to pick a velvet of cold tone.

>> No.10314689

Honestly, fuck post-revival Moitie. All of their accessories have been shit quality but still priced high as ever, and why in the world are they not releasing all those rare, sought after solids they made? Don't even need a damn print, just remake Shirring Ribbon. I guess they probably can't live up to the old quality anymore even if they want to. This Moitie is dead to me, I'll keep searching for old pieces on secondhand sites.

>> No.10314701

>>10314689
Maybe it doesn’t work well from business perspective or they have no capacity to recreate those. Although sometimes I wonder if Moitie benefits from keeping IG as sorta rare and irreplaceable lolita meme. Maybe they wanted it to be some sort of “one of a kind” piece.

>> No.10314715

>>10314689
>>10314701

I kind of wonder if some of the solid pieces they made earlier didn't sell well? Could've sworn I saw some of them on sale at wunderwelt fleur earlier this year (something small like 10% off, but still).

Though, I have a feeling the reprints are probably more profitable since it's an old design where they don't need to pay an illustrator for. When it was first released the price tag probably took into account the illustration fee, so now that "fee" is simply profit, or makes up for inflation eating at their profits, whichever way you'd like to look at it.

>> No.10314744

The stuff on sale for winter were the stuff from 2018. The solid would have been the Juliet op, which sucked with its no shirring design choice.

Anyways chances are that since they got into doing prints like neo gothic arch and silent moon we are more likely to get rereleases of stuff using the same techniques.

Seriously? If anything it’s rude to give things to people and then get offended if they don’t hang on to it forever. My mom even usually prefaces her gifting with “if you don’t like it you can always sell it!”. That just some bs, honestly its a hoarder mentality. The sooner you accept that people wont hold over you that you dont have every single gift given ever, the sooner you will be able to have a healthy relationship with items.

The appreciation of the gift was already had, and she probably wore it when she got it. Now at this point if it is no longer has a use in her life it is unreasonable to keep stuff just because it was a gift. Cherish the item with photos then let it go.

Also it is worth a ton atm so financially its stupid to keep something that could pay off a loan because mommy may find out.

>> No.10317622

It's the selling bit of a gift that's the rudest part. There are ways to get rid of gifts without having to sell said gift on. The sense of entitlement I'm seeing here is astonishing. That's one of the things that annoys me the most about the Lolita community, the idea that people have a right to other people's belongings, that they are more deserving of owning a piece from someone else's wardrobe than that person. Not everyone wants to sell pieces on. In this situation it sounds like this person wants to keep on to this dress for whatever reason even if she'd as a whole left the fashion. I've seen friends of mine do the same with one of two pieces they own.

>> No.10317633

>>10317622
So you rather she gives it to her friend that its her DD then, since it isnt selling? It seems unfair for the girl to not get the monetary value of the piece because you think its entitlement that I hope she isnt screwed over by your sentiments.

If she said she wanted to keep it because it is sentimental that is one thing, but just because it is a gift isnt an indicator of any special feelings towards the gift itself just the idea that its "taboo". That isnt being entitled, I dont want her to sell it to me. I want her to be able to learn to part with items you dont need since it seems like in her life otherwise she wants to go that way.

>> No.10317658

>>10317633
Not saying that at all. Like I said, in this case the owner of the dress should keep the dress. Just because it’s her friend’s dream dress doesn’t mean that she’s obliged to sell it to her. If anything the person is coming across as an entitled brat.

The same. IMO they should just release it in several sizes, not just the regular size 9 and 11 (aka their size 1 & 2). I'm a size us 4 so I have not trouble fitting their size 1 but if they are smart they don't change the design. We love the design, altering it will make us unhappy. I understand not everyone fits their size 2 (which is a japanese size 11), it's still quite small. Just make 3 or 4 different sizes, all made to order. Like if size 3 & 4 gets 50 orders, they will make it iyswim? Maybe for a small extra charge on top of the retail price, like 2000 yen. Other brands (indie though) have done that before and I'll bet most plus sized Moitie loving gals are willing to pay a little extra.

Most people these days aren't as slim as they were in the 90's & 00's so they cater to "today's" sizes (mostly western s & m) because that will sell better. I'm also bored of rereleases in general, I'd rather see new stuff. Frankly with all the quality issues they've been having I wouldn't trust them to get a rerelease right. Unless they work with a collaborating designer they seem to have pretty bland taste in trims and fabrics. They cheaped out on the custom lace too for gods sake. The pleats OP is a very odd dress. If you're not below the measurements, which are quite small to begin with, your fat is going to expand the pleats in the bodice and make you look like a chunky jester. There are at least 2 staffs who are fluent in English checking up all the social media accounts of lolitas who are into Moitie and also the message boards. If you are a member and your social media is public, chances are that they are already stocking you, even your stories, to make sure you didn’t post their “exclusive” content. Now with the closure of the salon, the staffs can finally relax a bit.

>> No.10331076

To chime in on the bigger sizes: it's not just because westerners demand dresses that fit them, it's also because people keep getting taller and taller. It's been 2 decades since moitie started, back then the average height simply was smaller. Even japanese teens nowadays can get quite tall and in the end lolita simply is a fashion for young women, so they gotta cater to them.

Sorry but I can't really bring myself to feel sorry for short girls who are complaining, you still have it easier than taller ones.

Not liking a brand's items is personal choice, not an indicator of their survival.

I dont see any reason to think they will die while they are releasing more and more things. Smaller brands will always have a smaller amount of products they release and will take more time to get new items, as they have less staff overall.

That isnt the case though? We dont have an idea of what they are doing to get a new designer but they arent the first brand to go through that. Aatp had a period of meh looks in the last few years while changing designers and now is back on it.

I dont really think they are doing the bare minimum, they are clearly reacting to the feedback they got on their survey and are doing changes to react to things that happen, like >>10334385 sock material is the same as the lace up so it is stretchier. A ton of Moitie fans are into mana related non fashion material, so they released that. A ton of people wanted bedroom stuff, so they released that. I honestly believe that right now they’re just testing factories and seeing which are the best fit before they start up on better releases. It makes sense that they’d be testing with the staple stuff and then all these re-releases that have steadily gone up in quality. The Silent Moon re-release is a prime example of that: they needed better printing after doing a small batch and found someone who could get it done before they did a large batch. I feel like I should note down a distinction, just in case newbies reading this really do think there's no difference between these and office blouses.

The Moitie blouses have larger, sharper collars. Small difference, I know. Collars are very important with blouses, just a small thing like rounding the corners makes a blouse too sweet for EGA.

Office blouses usually have sharp corners, to show they're less sweet and mean serious business, but they're also generally narrow collars, because they're salaried wageslaves paid to work, they're not trying to be flamboyant peacocks.

The Moitie ones have large collars, with sharp corners, because these are blouses meant for flamboyant evil peacocks showing off that they're not working. Small details, huge difference.

Ah, I noted that, but it's really not as important as the collar. The collar is a huge (small) detail that really sets the tone, especially since it's right under your face so it's be one of the first things people see.

Office clothes in generally reek "utilitarian" and "I'm working efficiently" in many small details, I'm willing to bet the MmM shirt probably has wider sleeves as well, just to be even less practical.
