I've been the past 2 years, it's one of my favorite cons personally, idk I just feel like the atmosphere is really positive and its run well, plus the AA is great. Reminds me of when NYCC used to be fun desu. It's def growing, last year felt a lot more crowded than the first year.

Relatively small? Ive never been but i looked it up and it has a bigger attendance than magfest and otakon by a decent margin. Two friends and i are attending this for the first time for the FATE GO USA Tour, and ive been trying to gather as much info as i can as its been years since ive gone to a new con. I can't believe how big that convention center is. There was a pet convention on the other side of the building, and my boyfriend with a cat allergy had no problems whatsoever. We only ever saw animals at the entrance.

This con still has years of comfy in it, because every time the attendees start to get cramped, they can just expand. I'm still stunned at how big the Expo Hall/Artist Alley will be this time.

If you like walking through parks, the High Line is actually right next to the convention center. It's a train track turned into a park, and makes for a good walk.

There's very little to eat in the immediate area. If you don't mind going a bit away, K-Town (32nd between 5th and 6th avenues) has plenty of food options, but will probably be rushed by weebs. I recommend the food gallery because they have taiyaki.

Hudson Yards opened up, so now there's some mid to high priced foods, and you have a few Chinese places across from B&H and a diner on 34th just 2-3 blocks away. But i've only been to few cons, and this is one of my first BIG cons.

I'm worried about security and some stuff getting taken, or getting robbed.
So I'm going to try to pack light.
I think one regular, one medium bag and 2 tiny mini bag inside a small laundry bag that i might put a dirty sign on, so no one robs me.

I just need one change of clothes.
Now I'm going to try some basic cosplay
My cosplay needs lots of different paints
And my cosplay needs good teeth/breath.
I know if I brush in morning and night every day of cosplay week, it shouldn't be problem.

There's plenty of room to grow at least if it does get crowded. ANYC doesn't even take up all of the building space yet, this year it'll still be shared with another event. NYCC management says they've been at maximum capacity for a few years now and they did 150,000 in total attendance over 4 days back in 2014 before they started expanding to additional venues.

Do any nyc locals know where I could buy a table like this in the local area or buy train at least? I’m in the artist alley and it’s for my table.

I’ll give you some real advice. This is not the con for getting laid at. The convention center closes down way earlier than any other con, there is no hotel connected to the convention center, and New York rooms are small and cramped as fuck, so there will be no room parties. There’s the after parties, but I’d be very surprised if you could pick up a girl there.

Save it for Magfest or Katsucon, there’s the club, the rave, lots of room parties, and lots of drinking.

Just some general advice for people who are going to be in the city for the first time from a local
Navigating the subways and streets is not exceptionally difficult, but just try and be sure of where you're going in advance.
People will actually generally help you if you get lost, but don't be surprised if they're curt or short in their response; it's rarely intended particularly rudely, so I wouldn't take great offense.
Chances are you will obviously look like a tourist. People will try and solicit money from you on the trains, vendors on the streets will shill you, etc. how you handle this obviously depends on what kind of person you are, but don't be surprised if it happens.
The crowded, touristy places are of course the worst for this type of shit, it should go without saying.
The city is generally extremely safe, especially anywhere you will be going as a tourist. The worst I'd seriously expect to happen to anyone is maybe a pick pocketing if you are exceptionally careless, but even that is doubtful desu.

Avoid people who approach you and hand you something. They're usually trying to hussle you or scam you. Ignore them and walk away.
When you're walking around Times Square, ignore the people who are dressed up. They want a picture and demand money after.
If you stop and watch and listen to a street performer, they expect you to tip.
Those weed trucks don't have real edibles.

Generally, Uptown/Bronx/Queens bound means the train is going north. Downtown/Brooklyn bound means the train is going south.
Subways have tons of delays in the weekend. Add an extra 30 minutes of commute time to make to something on time.
If it's the weekends and you're traveling by LIRR, buy a City Ticket from a kiosk if they offer it and make sure your zones are designated for it.
