this is whiny but here it goes anyway. i have health problems. i got put on medication that made me gain weight and i'm not loosing any of it. and it made my hair start falling out too. i wasn't pretty to begin with. but lolita is one of the few things that made me feel pretty. now my clothes just sit in my closet because they don't fit me anymore, and even if they did bald-lolita isn't a good look and i don't wear wigs. if it gets that bad and i'm able to fit into my clothes again i'll consider getting a wig. but i've lost hope of ever loosing the weight at this point.

i'm starting to think maybe i need to give up on lolita, and maybe even give up on all fashions. i don't want to leave lolita but unless my doc suddenly has an epiphany about my health i can't see me wearing it again.

i'm not really asking for advice, i just need to tell someone who will understand how much having to stare at my beloved BTSSB i may never wear again hurts.

Has anyone from here had shoes from Yosuke before? I'm sick of my tea parties breaking, Yosuke do a lot of leather shoes and I want to buy these but I want to know if they're good first.

I did have a pair of secondhand Yosuke sandals around 2009-2010 and I remember them being nice but it was so long ago now that I can't remember.

As an ex-lolibrarian >>10283761 I can confirm that this is the most important feature. If you have to do all the publishing by yourself, you will be overwhelmed. Even 4-5 people will not be enough. Ideally, there will be 1-2 people dedicated to each every brand, but the more people the better. Implement moderated publishing, that way everyone is able to participate but not do any damage, like deleting listings or deliberately posting false information.

Add a communication system between contributing users, so everyone knows where everyone is working on and work can be evenly distributed.

Having a category for mystery items would be nice. If there is some unidentifiable item, it can be posted under that category and users can work together to find out more information on that item.

It was in closet child. There was a dress with a transparent poly layer attached to the top (can't recall if it's chiffon or organdy), and it was wrinkled so badly -- imagine a piece of paper completely crumpled up and then straightened out again. The entire top was like that (the skirt was a different material and still ok).

It's just something else entirely because afaik polyester never wrinkles that badly, it's one of the defining features that you don't need to iron most polys after washing, even organdy petticoats remain poofy because you can't just bend wrinkles into them even if you squish them up. Usually something like that requires a little heat.

I didn't have the guts to buy it because god knows if a little steaming will get it back out, or if the polyester fibres are just too warped to be straightened back out. We're talking plastic fibres pretending to be thread here, and pleats and wrinkles like that usually means it's been melted into a new shape. There may not be a way to melt it back into its original straight line without melting the whole top into a puddle of plastic.

Is there something wrong with someone buying all the supply of a dress and then selling it later? If they have the money to do so they should be allowed. That's what happens but we don't have to like it. This is our hobby and we don't want people who are just here to benefit financially but don't care for the clothes.

And brands can't play around with the price as much as scalpers can, without hurting their brand. Some of them did raise their prices, like Juliette et Justine and Jane Marple, but they don't sell as well and it's bad for a brand to put things on sale often.

imagine being an actual lolita, not being able to support the brand directly to get the new dress and the coordinating accessories and elements at once. The only way now to get the dress you want is to deal with some disgusting third party who cares nothing about the product or the hobby. You probably don't even get the sweet shop notes or the postcards that come with the package.
I get you don't participate in the fashion, from even asking that question the way you did, but scalping is really a huge, artificial influence on the market, as well as the experience and desire of true hobbyists. It's also tainting the relationship between producers, who now have to drum up airtight and cold policies just to protect us.
At least brands are now limiting 1 product per color for first day of reservations.

Speaking of, who is getting pic related, or the usakumya headband today?

the Chinese seller isn't even scalping. They really are charging less than some US sellers and while they're clearly reselling for profit the threshold for considering it scalping for me is higher than the $50 or whatever they are making from the kumyas. don't remember original price from BABY tho so it could be more.

Not saying it''s fair or okay but people seem to be claiming scalping cause they are mad they are selling so many, not even the markup.

Maxicimam, Marble and Baby the Stars Shine Bright (they call it classical) still (re-)release old-school pieces regularly. Moitie did a couple of re-releases that could be considered old-school too. Some brands that just generally focus on non-printed clothes are Atelier Boz, Sheglit, and Rosa Bianca among others.

Consider the following: brand releases some another Dream Bunny Carnival. Scalpers happend to buy the majority of that and put on sale with markup. If the price hits some ridiculous measure there's a chance that the piece will never go sold out. Now imagine this situation when brand makes another releases againg and again, but it barely reaches the final consumer with a proxy of scalpers. That can't be good for business. Too hard to build the brand loyalty or make the audience wider when actuall goods don't reach it.

I've heard of it obviously; I was just uncertain how a site that isn't profiting from the sale of items and uses individual sellers like LM would implement said sales, until the anons explained it's more of an opt in thing for each person.

I just failed to see what a majority of seller would get from it since there are a ton of scalpers and people talk a lot about wanting to recoup as much value as possible when reselling to buy new items, but maybe the average seller is less cynical/concerned about money than some of the people I've seen discussing it on cgl

Most people selling on lace market aren’t scalpers and just want their stuff sold. If offering an extra $10 off for one day makes the sale happen then a lot of people would rather do that then hope someone buys their stuff after relisting it hundreds of times. The scalper mostly have dream dresses or rare socks, stuff like that that sells decently while many regular sellers just have a few blouses and random dresses & accessories that are more likely to sit in the market for a longer period of time and they would be willing to take a small hit on price to get them sold.

Nothing tacky 'bout old school, my friend!
Also, secondhand is your friend if you want the real deal. Since you are new, I'd say buy one main piece, then purchase your other elements like blouses and legwear. Good beginner tip is to match your lace, color and type. Don't buy a blouse with eyelet lace trim if your dress has heavy torchon or cluny details. Start small and focus on building that first coord with your first main piece. Then go from there.

Fair enough, but desu I don’t really give a shit about sellers like Raines and gemgem. They have 1 of something and I could always find it somewhere else if I was proactive and if I feel like being lazy, well there they are. But the scalpers that swarm new releases and buy as much stock as the store will allow and immediately resell it are the worst because regular lolitas go to those events wanting the items and don’t get them because the scalpers literally break down the doors to get all the stock. Lolitas don’t even have the option to buy them from the brand.

So many sellers on lacemarket are fucking delusional though. I regularly get emails for dresses that have been listed literally 100+ times and the price never drops. If we assume they list for only 7 days that’s still almost 2 years. Give up, no one wants your dress enough to pay that. Generally you invoice each other for the same amount that you would agree is an ok value for the items, say $100. You each pay each other $100 so there’s no net loss. If someone doesn’t send you their dress you can at least file a report with PayPal and get $100 for the dress you sent them, so then all you did was sell your dress for the value you were ok with (that’s why it’s important to set a value at which you’d be willing to sell). The only downside is you both lose the PayPal fee amount but that’s like $3 per $100 which to me is worth it for the security.

They lose customers when stuff like >>10285908 happens too much -- you go buy a dress, you line up, and then you're dissappointed. If you can only ever buy this stuff from scalpers then you'd sour on the brand pretty quickly.

The brands realise this, why do you think AP started doing weird shit like limiting it to one per person and at one point requiring you wear lolita to buy their stuff. If they let the scalpers buy out everything they have long-term customers that will abandon them, whereas the scalpers just move on to the next big band to scalp tickets for or whatever.

People's definition of scalping here half the time is really just charging more than they can afford for an item they want.

If they're actually a lolita wearing or intending to wear what they buy sellin g it for more as others have said selling for market value that is above its original value isn't awful.

But all of us tend to hate when people who have no intention to use the items buy a bunch of lolita with no intention other to profit off it.

Even if in the case of the listing people were commenting on the prices weren't crazy and were better than western sellers of the same thing. The principle that they went out of their way to intercept actual lolitas wanting to buy from the brand (and also artificially inflate the market value, plus alter the brand's perception of what lolitas want or what sells well to real wearers of the clothes, which leads to us not being able to tell the brands what we like and want to see more of directly with our own money).

It's strange because the Japanese are a consumer base that is usually very discerning about quality items so you'd think they would at least maintain it over time. Everyone that questions what qualifies as scalping isn't a scalper. You must be new if you think we're all the same person.

Don't make this about personal drama. What the majority of people want is a functioning lolibrary. I think everybody is understanding of the fact that it's volunteer work and people have lives and that updates might take a little longer, but we' have been waiting for over 2 years now. Personal drama is not what made us mad about or "hate" Amelia. We are just worried and want things to improve and we are slighly annoyed by her attitude. If Amelia has that many personal issues she should act professionally and should hand over the work to someone else who can get it done instead. There are plenty of people willing to help. There were in fact plenty of people willing to help in the past, but she ignored or put off everyone who pointed out major flaws and dared to disagree with her. Her usual reply when someone asks if something has been done yet is "I'm working on it now" and then she disappears for a few weeks until someone dares to ask again. There has to be done something and everyone knows this.

Sometimes people cheat but it’s rarely in a vacuum, it usually stems from relationship problems that are both people’s faults and cones when one b person wants out but feels too trapped or guilty to pull the trigger and break up. And almost everyone will break someone’s heart in their life, it doesn’t make them evil. I personally do not care that she cheated or she broke up with her fiancé or whatever. Life’s messy, oh well. My sympathy for the ex-fiancé but it does not have anything to do with lolibrary or the lolita community so it shouldn’t be on here. It’s really not our business.

LM is not for your bs, we are a community that values specific brands and LM already runs on more integrity than other sites due to it not actually handling the payments. Obviously 99% of us know this etsy shit isnt Qpot but fuck I think we need to nip that in the bud.

Y’all are batshit. I buy dresses and change my mind and sell them again all the time. It’s not that deep.

I do too, but I don't like selling to someone who resells it for double. I want to sell to lolitas who wear it or otherwise sell it for a normal price. On lacemarket unfortunately there are a lot of people who try to sell for double the price it's worth and then re-list for that price over and over and over again.
