Witchy coord from today's Halloween meet. We visited a lovely museum full of books, tapestries and printing equipment (https://www.museumplantinmoretus.be/en)) and afterwards we had crêpes. I wanted to be a library witch, but unfortunately this dress is really hard to photograph inside, so I became a garden witch instead. :D

I got this cute pin from a local artist at a punk show a while back, got to talk with them about how the roots of punk movements in America were PoC driven, and those people forgotten about when the scene skyrocketed in the 80s and 90s. This weekend our local comm had a Halloween tea and I helped to host <3 I revisited this lewk from DragonCon earlier this year by making a new 18th century inspired bodice and fichu. Did you know that the standard outfit we think of for plague doctors wasn't developed until the mid 17th century and that plague doctors were still used until the 19th century? I recently went on vacation and got to wear a lot of coords that I haven’t really had the opportunity to at home. It was such a pleasure to get to live my frilly dreams. I just wish the wind outside hadn’t blown my bonnet off and messed up my hair! I couldn’t get it just right like before I tried to step outside.

Was gonna suggest forehead/front braids, you can braid them lower to cover your forehead.

I don't think your forehead is that big anyway, it's a combination of pulling all your hair back, the headbow, and the camera angle being a bit high (so your forehead appears bigger since it's closer to the camera). If you take a section of your hair and style it to the side (like side-swept bangs) and set the headbow further back it might solve the problem altogether without needing to resort to more accessories.

I really think that either fake bangs or draped fake bangs are needed for the style of Lolita you're going for. You are so covered up and fussy from the neck down that the comparatively large expanse of bare skin of your forehead unbalanced the whole look. Bare foreheads seem work best in Lolita with very simple classy coords, and/or dresses that have rather open necklines and perhaps more bare arms.

Both would work equally well, it all depends on how you style your hair, how you wear them, what style they are, if it suits your face -- there's very large side bows as well as smaller ones, stiff ones, chiffon ones, etc. With headbows IW makes smaller ones, there's limp ones, flat ones, ones with veils, etc etc. Too many variations to say for sure one is better suited for your face than another.

As an aside, headbows aren't headbands, don't use it like a regular Claire's headband. It's a large bow attached to a headband simply because it's stable and easy to put on your head. What you do is style your hair seperately so that it frames your face. Then slide the headband in on the top of your head wherever it'll look best.

(In fact, most lolita accessories are only decorative, you'd use plain rubber bands to tie your hair before adding a bow clip or ribbon comb, you do the same with headbows -- style your hair first, then add the bow to the top of your head.)

Don't worry too much about the comments on here. I'd suggest heading to youtube to see what else you can do with your hair, then maybe a couple of evenings experimenting with it. Try out a bit of hair gel to get some texture, or hair oil to tame the frizziness. It's just part of the fun to experiment with your looks and see what you interesting looks can do with your hair.

Hi all it's been a while! I hope everyone has been doing well I've been away from wearing lolita actively this year as big life commitments settled in (moved to a new home!), so attending my local comm's annual Black Alice tea party meant a lot to me as a welcomed breather~

Schehérazade (Shahrazad) is one of my favourite fictional heroines, she was a wise and intelligent woman who put an end to a cruel ruling of unnecessary killing. I wanted to depict the moment when she presented herself as a bride to the Sultan, and ready to carry out her witty storytelling plan~

I drew my inspiration from various illustrations and depictions of Scheherazade, mostly from Georges Barbier and Erté of the Art Deco movement.

Coord I wore a few weeks back for black-light minigolf. It was spoopy with all sorts of Halloween friendly decor. I selected all of my garments based on their ability to fluoresce under a uv light, and wore uv reactive makeup! Sorry for no full body shot in black light, we had too much fun playing to get outfit shots.

Here is my outfit for the second day of Keicon and I wanted to do a more costume based look since it was near Halloween!

My concept for this was Lucy from 1992 version of Dracula, and since I am dedicated to the idea I grew out my nails and faded my hair to natural colours for this outfit. I plan to dye my hair back to purple soon but it was fun but planning for this look.

love these colors and the fit of the main piece is nice. I get the desire to add straw to a country coord, but the headdress is kind of ugly because the straw part doesn't match the bold colors. using the print fabric for the middle would be better. the cutsew, while a great color, doesn't have enough details around the neck. Maybe mod the collar with lace, or add brooches? At least some kind of visual interest so it doesn't look so flat and normie compared to the JSK neckline.
Looks like she just slapped the wig on right out of the bag. Brushing it out, cutting the bangs, and giving a fuller style would be cuter.
I'm a sucker for bloomers so thought they'd be a nice addition here. All-in-all: very cute & impressive handmade! Just needs finessing imo to look complete as a coord.

I work in a pharmacy warehouse so I usually just wear t-shirts and leggings to work, so today was a really nice time to dress up and show off my usual style to my coworkers! Everyone loved it!
My concept was the "Mom Tax," where moms will take the good candy out of trick or treat bags and say it's the mom tax

The apron wasn't originally supposed to be a part of it, but I needed something to wipe my hands on because they get pill dust all over them at work, but I think it made me look more like a mom so.. it stuck!

I like the eye shape, and I don't mind the dual tone lips, but everything inbetween is a no go for me. She sprinkles those white freckles as if they go with eveything, but they really don't. Maybe with a deer coord or polka dot coord, but not with everything. And you already know about the nose contour... I wonder if she does that awful contour because she's self-conscious of her nose shape or something. If so, I'd say taking off the contour would bring less attention to it. I hope she improves, even if at least only the execution, because I like her enthusiasm.
