If the magnets don't work out, another non destructive way to use it is putting it in one of those can badge covers and gluing a bar safety pin to the vinyl on the back. They have a 75mm size one that fits most can mirrors, but make sure to measure yours in case the size is different.

i wanted to ask does anyone have any tricks for can badges that are kind of "loose" and shift/turn around a lot even when pinned down as much as possible? i have that problem visibly a lot in the bottom row, they look fine when i pin them down while the bag is laying flat then some of them wobble out of place when i put the bag up. i was considering adding velcro or magnet tape on the backs maybe?

I'm not into the flowers for either character, they come off kinda Christmas-y to me. The layout for the Chrollo bag is great though, I really like how you made space for the figure. Get rid of the big flowers and stick to more of those little ones you put in the bag itself.

What's the smarter first time purchase, a white bag that goes with everything and could be used for multiple characters, or a bag specifically in your fave's color even if you're not too fond of that color? I personally like to personalize the bags itself for the character and while I like to personally match colors, I don’t think most people care about exactly matching with the color so it’s not too much of the end of the world if you’re not matching with the bag (unless you’re really into it). Isn’t there any secondary or other colors within the character/merch you can wear instead? Neutral colors also work as well. Or even get a small colored accessory like a bracelet or earrings as maybe just a tiiiny amount of green will override your opinion of it not suiting your appearance.

Perhaps for you it’s best to go white and it’s likely to be the smarter buy to switch up with characters, but I’d personally go for green. (I also love the color green)

A lot of fanclubs for bands etc. require you to live in Japan to join or at least be in Japan regularly to attend events or else you're kicked out for inactivity so it's probably less "someone isn't willing to spend a lot of money to get this merch" and more "someone isn't willing to uproot their entire life and find a new job and home in a foreign country".

I worry about what happens to unsold/unwanted merch as well, but niche merch in general is produced on a MUCH smaller scale than say, almost anything you could find in a department store. The plastic use is high but when you consider a lot of stuff is being made in small batches and a lot of things will be held by people for years, then it's a bit easier to justify it. I've never thrown away any of my own merch, and in the rare case that I no longer want something, I'll usually give it away or sell it. I produce much more waste just buying regular shit from the store than I do buying merch in general, because most of it I truly want and know I will have in my possession for a very long time, so the only things I'm getting rid of are the packaging.

It also weirdly helps that I've worked in estate sales before and I've seen a lot of large collections be passed to people who wanted the stuff just as much. It's a lot easier to digest knowing that well kept items can be passed on and valued for a long time rather than thinking of it all as hunks of plastic/metal/whatever that will get thrown into the ocean.

That all said, I wish there was a way to reduce waste with packaging and shipping.

UV-blocking film is a thing, but I don't know it it can be used on anything but windows. It's still cheap enough that you should seriously consider it for the room you keep your goods in.

Otherwise, you can get glass frames treated with UV-blocking coating for posters, and blackout curtains to keep light exposure to a minimum. Switch to LED lightbulbs, too.

From what I remember this knockoff only came in blue. Doing a quick search through ali/taobao it seems like it's just gone. Wego has some nice ones, and zakka has a solid collection though I'm not sure if any of them run as small as that one is. For starters, you should lose the perler bead art in the middle there. Those are never cute and makes your bag look tacky.
A gold fabric insert is an alright idea(incorporating a jigsaw piece pattern would look cute too imo) Maybe even getting a custom piece of fabric made with a Spiral Mountain screenshot printed on it would also be a neat idea for an insert.
The charms and pins you have so far are decent and the art on them is cute if you stick to cute polished art you should be fine. Try to get pins that are cohesive in size too. I can't find the photo right now but the person who made the cafe diorama posted ages ago also posted a closeup photo of it where you could see how they kept their acrylic stands from moving. They had attached a thicker sheet of transparent material (plastic maybe, or acrylic) to the keychains and then attached that material to the "roof" and "floor" of the bag.
You could also try a thin, transparent, high strength thread like jewelers' thread to tie the stand to any other decoration.

The basics: making an insert would help a lot with planning merch placement, and a lighter background would make the glitter window not as obnoxiously in your face.

That string of beads is pretty clunky, I would alternate it with a pattern of darker/smaller red beads/gem drops in it, or add them to the gold chain would fit the aesthetic more. Otherwise, ditch them and remove the keyrings on your charms and safety pin them with a jump ring directly to the bag instead. I personally think chains only look good if you have multiples of the same piece of merch to grapevine or symmetrical merch, and you have neither available at the moment.

imo I would try making an insert with their skin color and see how grouping the merch with their gem hole placements would seem... Padparadscha is pretty hard to find in the AA.

Still a work in progress but I'm glad I finally got to take this to WDW.

I'd originally thought of having some raw quartz points but went with quartz beads and the heart gem (barely visible in the photo) instead. I'm a bit attached to them so I don't want to get rid of them fully but I could definitely make them fit better. The glitter window is the bane of my existence so I'll look into finding a fabric I'd like for the backing if that would make it less obnoxious.

Where do you often see calls for merch splitting? I've seen it before for series that I don't follow or care enough to buy for, but they've appeared to be very informal (like through DM's and such). Well for a card game focused show, I think it's absolutely on point. They might have done so in the picture, I can't tell, but I think laminating them would be a good idea to not only protect them, but make it possible to mount the card.

It doesn't look like those cards have any kind of protection but it's probably not a huge concern since the window's already covering it. I know card protectors exist and there's some with holes to hang them from, so that's probably the best way to add them to a bag.
