I've been in the cosplay scene way back when cgl is still a new board and the place is more masculine compared to today. 40k cosplays, mechas, fighting game characters and shounen protags are all the rage and asking for advice to dress up as Len can get you teased a lot for being a fag/fujo. I've seen at least one REALLY good cosplay of Bakugo done by a dude. He even ha LED lights in his gauntlets. Unfortunately I didn't get a picture because I only saw him twice - the first time he was eating so I didn't want to bother him, and the second time I was taking a break because my cosplay shoes were killing my feet and I didn't want to stand back up (not to mention he was a few feet away so I would have to run to catch him as he walked by). I regret it, because he did a really good job.

It probably also doesn't help that due to CERTAIN franchises all the cool shit or historical males are now girls. Not that I have a problem with it on a "god I wanna fuck this historical figure now" level, it just severely makes the boys and men you can cosplay shit. There's ironically not many good male anime characters. A majority of them are depressed males in their 30-40s, high school kids who are shonen protagonists or isekai protagonists or they're background characters. In fact, its a weird thing when canonically there are characters who don't take good care of themselves but because of plain old suspension of disbelief, they look good and cute.
