I have about 15 years of cosplay content and I've been contemplating using Patreon as a platform to organize and publish it all. A ton of photos and videos of my Babby's first Costume to today. Is Patreon a good platform or should I look elsewhere? I don't plan on doing sexy shoots (hell, I've never done one) and only have like a $1 tip jar. A free patreon works if you want a place to blog about your cosplay. They have good options for long form posts and media. Just don't expect it to replace social media. There's no good search or repost functions so it will be hard or impossible for people to find you unless you're advertising on other platforms.

To *actually* answer your question:

Start a project, start a Patreon. Throw up a $1 support no-rewards tier so your friends and early fans can just support you. They *want* to.

Next, build up your project the way you want. Offer higher rewards for higher tiers. If you do lewds or nudes, make that a tier (around $40 seems to be the running for most mid-level ero-cosplayers). If you wanna do prints, fold that into a tier and offset the printing/shipping cost inside the amount. If you wanna do tutorial videos, make a tier for that, etc etc etc.

At first just run it yourself. Patreons start slow, but they can snowball. If you're making enough, hire someone to help. Nothing wrong with that once you can afford it, and it often allows you to:

a) work less frequently, which we should all be so lucky to do

b) do less administrative work and more project work, which is rewarding to all parties

I wholly encourage you to just wade in and get your feet wet, anon!
