>> No.10221804

I'm pretty sure they're selling it for more since I believe the original price for the MTO was 400+ dollars and these people are usually selling anywhere from 500-600+. But they can still price it for whatever they want. You don't have to like it, but at the end of the day, it's their dress and people are buying.

Way too expensive. But then most Bodyline on LM is priced too high. People buy the larger sizes in popular colors when they are on half off sale, hold them until Bodyline is out of stock, then mark them regular Bodyline retail price, NWT or ‘nearly new’ on LM. They sell, because everyone knows it usually takes Bodyline a very long time to restock anything, especially larger sizes. Profit for days.

I always sell with tracking and the price to ship a dress within the US for me is between $15 or $20 USD. I've only ever once had to pay the $20 amount because it was a velveteen dress, everything else has been brand cotton or poly dresses that doesn't weigh as much... But instead of guessing the final cost of shipping I just include it into the price and say free shipping so I can get it to people without any delays.

Unsolicited story time bc we're shitposting anyway.

I used to believe these kind of rants and hotglued phone deco pieces to a ring base, it honestly did look like it really came from a kid's toy capsule, but that's what everybody says about AP's plastic stuff, right? So I figured I was on the right track and wore my things proudly.

Years later when I could afford it, I ended up buying a set of porter bear jewellery with my dress, because it was my one big splurge of the year. When it arrived, I realised I had been so wrong. Their plastic was miles better than the crap used for phone deco, and the edges were polished, free from jaggies. Their findings, pearl and chain where so much better quality than the stuff I found in the craft store. Plus the design was incredibly cute and way better than the half-hearted generic heart biscuits or whatever, and they matched the dress perfectly (well, no duh on the last).

This is how it happens, people rant about AP jewellery being overpriced crap, but what they mean is, it's made from plastic after all so they feel like they paid too much for it. But newbies see this and then decide they can cut costs by shopping at children's section for cutesy kiddy hairclips. Then end up wondering why they got posted to the ita thread with comments that they look like ageplay. It's really not the same. AP stuff is overpriced, but there's a shitton of differences in the material, the proportions, the design, just about everything about it from children's toy jewellery.

I feel like not many people realise how big the jewellery are. Porter Bear necklace is the size of my palm. The fancy crepe necklace currently in the store is listed at 7.5cm, that's not really small. Similar to this biscuit necklace, there's no way you can find these just in the kid's section.

So pretty much, PSA for newbie to beware these kinds of rantings and not take shortcuts.

THIS.

I used to think AP jewelry was a huge waste of money. But some of the necklace motifs are very detailed, and like you said, they are often larger than they appear in stock images. I got the Fancy Soda/Fancy Crepe necklaces and was so happy I did.

I would only shill the cash for a necklace from AP if it was the right price. I think Qpot and BB&B make better looking jewelry for about the same price as AP, and it's better quality. I've owned multiple AP rings and bangles and honestly they're not that great. They're flimsy and put together with shitty glue, so if you move the wrong way or it's too warm outside it'll come undone and then you have to continue to glue it on every few weeks until you give up because you realize it's not worth it. If you're wasting your cash on plastic brand accessories buy Metas plastic jewelry, Qpot, or just stick to AP necklaces

Qpot's more expensive, though. Necklaces quite close to 10k yen whereas AP's necklaces run under 5k yen, usually closer to 3-4k yen unless they're doing one of their metal stuff like they did for CDC, Musee, etc. With a downside of the theme and sizing being somewhat iffy -- I think the macarons are okay if you don't mind the weight, but some of the chocolate-themed stuff is pretty small.

Unless you're buying them all secondhand... but even there I find AP is usually still cheaper than qpot.

Why are people complaining about prices so much?

You are acting like the clothing is a collective ownership, that you deserve the right to a low price just because you are aware this niche fashion exists.

Just a heads up, you are not special.
People own clothes. They can sell the clothes for whatever price they please. Seeing you complain about it makes you seem so sheltered, tactless, and frankly, not wealthy.

If you can't afford the fashion, save until you can. Otherwise, you will end up looking like a pathetic weasel begging for table scraps with finger to point calling out others' "MONETARY PRIVILEGE!!!!"

A blouse being put in the $8 flat rate box is still lazy as shit. The only time the flat rate boxes make sense are if your items are heavy. A blouse can be put in a regular poly mailing envelope (they cost 50¢ btw) and mailed for about $5.50, less if you create the shipping label through paypal. Through PayPal it will be about $4. So you’re just lazy and charging other people for your laziness. Not everything needs to go priority. Regular mail still includes tracking. As does regular first class international mail to most of the main European countries and former British nations (Ireland Canada etc) and a few random other countries. The customs form number is the tracking number. People are just stupid.

I’m so fucking sick of buyers acting like priority boxes are the only way to mail things. I pass on items all the time when buyers are like that because I don’t want to give their lazy asses my money. They lost a $50 sale because they won’t be slightly less lazy.

>> No.10237988

>>10237926
Starts at $15 minimum for light items and goes up to about $24 for first class mail (under one pound, like blouses, socks, accessories). That does include tracking for Australia, Belgium, Canada, Croatia, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Great Britain, northern Ireland, Hungary, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania, Malaysia, Malta, Netherlands, New Zealand, Singapore, Spain, and Switzerland. People will try to say it doesn’t but it does, they’re just uninformed and done if the clerks don’t know what they’re talking about.
Once you’re over a pound it starts going up by a lot. A 4lb dress, for instance, is over $50. Once you’re over a pound it’s usually cheaper to do priority. I always try to get the cheapest option and the cheapest I’ve ever gotten a JSK to Europe was $42.
If you’re not mailing to one of the countries listed above and have a small parcel to mail and the buyer wants tracking, you can do regular first class mail for $15 and then add registered mail service to it for $16. It provides tracking. The seller has to sign for the parcel but it saves $10. You also have to wrap it up in special brown tape but the postal clerk will provide that. They don’t mention this option online, you have to ask for it in person. On the website and even in person they push the priority mail real hard and a lot of LM sellers are lazy and just use that, but the reason they push it is that it massively overcharges unless you’re mailing bricks

I don't know how it could be any easier than the way I do it. Recycle Amazon and other boxes I already have. I have a shipping scale that cost about $20, I print out labels at work and leave the item to be picked up, or small items can go in a blue post box. The shipping rates are much cheaper 90% of the time.

I don't like that flat rate boxes are called "lazy". Going to the post office to pick up a special extra box, then going home, wrapping your item, and taking it back to wait in line at the fucking post office again is not lazy. It takes up much more time. All so you can charge buyers more money.

People may not want to invest in a shipping scale, but if you sell even a moderate amount of stuff online it's well worth it. My items fly out the door for good prices while these $15 shipping blouses sit forever. Then the sellers complain that buyers are cheap. No! You just be dealing with very very incompetent people or they’re lying to you because it’s literally the easiest option, that’s why it costs the most. You show up at the post office, take 20 seconds to put the dress in a free box that seals itself so you don’t have to buy tape (it’s not free at the p.o.) and then you address it. Waaaaay easier than having to look around your house for excess packing material or boxes that are an acceptable size, find/buy tape, pack it up, and still wait at the post office in line anyway. It doesn’t sound that hard but to some people I guess it is. I’ve never heard of people going to the post office and bringing the box home and packing it there and then taking it back. My post office is full of people packing their stuff up in priority boxes. But even if it’s true that they were out of the size she needed (really hard to believe they didn’t have more in the back) then that’s one more reason why people should pack it themselves, yet they don’t. And if a lot of people don’t do the thing that’s more economical and makes more sense, it’s usually because the way they’re doing it the lazy way.

You could weigh yourself on your bathroom scale holding nothing and then hold the item packed up and weigh yourself again. Your scale should show the difference if it’s digital. Then check the post office website to see how much it would be, then round up to the nearest dollar just in case. Worked for me in the past but now I have a kitchen scale I use to weigh packages (not super accurate but good enough). Thrift stores sometimes have cheap kitchen scales (the non-digital type) for super cheap

I sell a lot (and buy a lot) and I’m there all the time, multiple times a week. There are always at least two, sometimes more at mine. Guess it depends where you live.

>> No.10238219

I’ll admit I use priority mail boxes and envelopes for what I ships. For one, buying plain padded envelopes is freaking expensive where I live. Like minimum $1 an envelope. Most of the time it ends up costing about the same. But I use priority mail envelopes because you can order them in bulk straight to your door. I think mine are like 5 years old because I rarely sell. But also you can get discounts for priority mail by paying through stamps.com or PayPal.

I don’t use priority because it’s easier. I use it because it tends to be the same price. I also don’t sell stuff for a profit and don’t charge for shipping, I eat the entire shipping cost so.... I can ship however I want.

Nayrt but the boxes I've received from Japan were all fine, not sure why yours were so beat up? Most boxes I receive appear to be used once (just to send to me), and are reusable. I like to reuse boxes but I agree, if it's not reusable use a better box ffs, even if that means you need to buy a brand new one. I'm in Europe so prices may be different, but buying boxes or padded envelopes in bulk isn't super cheap but definitely worth it. Rarely ship things in envelopes though, I prefer boxes cause there's less chance things inside get damaged (like your dress, who the fuck puts a 300 dollar dress in a jiffybag baka). Envelopes should definitely not be reused. When you order from Japan or China, most things are nicely packaged in plastic bags (and shipped in a box), which I find pleasing as it protects the garments, etc. I ordered. I tend to reuse those as well when I sell things. My main goal is that the buyer is pleased when they receive their things, I'm surprised some people couldn't care less.

Any one else getting people buying your items and then asking for you to send the invoice to their email when your sales terms say PayPal only? I had three items sell in two days to three different buyers all less then three months old ask this of me. Then when I tell them I only accept PayPal which is explained in the sale agreement, they just stop responding. It’s getting frustrating.

No the don’t want to pay though PayPal. They want to send me payment though email via digital check. Completely going against the rule of “PayPal payments only” my last three buyers have done this and have 0-0 feedback and are accounts less then three months old. It’s weird how they think “ oh I’ll just send you the invoice through email because I don’t have a PayPal”. Mind you, these are also unverified LM accounts as well. It’s really weird how back to back on three items I have gotten the same “ hi sweetie, please send me the invoice through email and not PayPal. Thank you”. I have done many buying and selling transactions on LM and everyone has been rather compliant on the strickt “PayPal purchases only” rule on my sales terms. But suddenly I’m getting “ hey sweetie,” messages.

Buying bodyline? Two of my three items are bodyline items. Not rare items and items that always pop up in the sales so they are not hard to get. Ones a bodyline blouse for 12 dollars, while the other is a gingham JSK for 20.
