Shitty internet service for general con-goers is a known common poorfags problem, just plan to use your data.

My gripe is poorfags complaining about everything. Get a surpass/VIP and stay in a not-crowded hotel room if you want a good weekend. Short lines, a place to peacefully rest, early access so you don't miss your precious weeb merch etc.
I shop early, then go eat the minute the dealer doors open to general admission, then the restaurants aren't crowded either and my shopping is safely finished. No lines means no wasted time, room clears between panels means I can just show up at the correct time and go in. It makes the difference between having a struggle all weekend and having a nice relaxed time, believe me.

I just really hate how antisocial cons have become. It used to be super easy to make friends and even relationships in the scene. Everybody pretty keeps to themselves nowadays and cons have sort of become a one-way experience, either you go to look at the industry stuff and other booths or you go just to show off cosplay and that's it. Because the people who care mostly about the qualities you appreciated in the male dominated communities go elsewhere or just stay at home. Some of them convert into the autistics or dipshits. It's not even necessarily their fault. Some people just aren't socially capable with the opposite sex. In an environment where there's hardly any women it's easy for a guy to hide that. As for the poon chasers they just come when the concentration of women is high enough. Someone with that plan won't go to a sausage fest obviously. The same thing happens in reverse its just less noticeable because women are generally more socially competent (many reasons) and the role they play romantically is different in ways that make them less obnoxious.
These problems are intrinsically linked to mixing romantically interested parties because human sexuallity isn't the most cultured thing. There's a reason that sexual repression is often viewed as a positive trait with regards to societal development. It actually hinders other activities.
I think the suggestion of gender separation for certain special events is great. Mixed events will never stop but if we start making explicitly gendered events a normal thing you'll see quality peak. Male only events will be viewed as sexist (and will attract sexists) for a long ass time because people don't appreciate the practical aspects right now. But it'll come with perseverance and maybe if female only events get popular enough the practical sides of it will be more obvious to people in general. It'll also provide a space for people with more serious anxieties. They might _need_ this.

I don't have any experience in working with payment processing devices and services, but I think it's safe to assume they have end-to end encryption and HTTPS security.
These alone would make it near impossible to sniff any data from a local device.

I’m still mad that I bought pic related at a con when I was 16 for $100, not realising the going rate was more like $40. a loss of $60 was a big deal at that age. Never bought a figure at a con since.

I’m glad you just got into anime and you happen to look great and want to cosplay something with your hot bod but pls, befriend some long time weebs or something. Stop shoving your camera in peoples faces, stop cutting people in lines, stop talking when you shouldn’t be, if you get so drunk you can’t handle yourself then go back to your room (this isn’t a college dorm, I don’t mind drunkenness but it’s annoying when you’re disrupting everyone else’s experience) also learn how to read a room and stop bothering other cosplayers with excessive barely-in-character flirting. I get that some of us like to hook up at cons but save it for the night time at least.

this drove me up a wall last weekend at NYCC. dealer's room was really full but things were still moving along pretty ok.
every single time we'd come to a stand still in there it was because someone with a stroller was at the "front" of the walking line.
then there were times when people would park their stroller in front of some table making it impossible for anyone to see the merch on it.
