Surprisingly, many people do wear them for support and report comfort from being laced in. Not even talking Tight Lacing or waist training either. As long as you have some kind of breathable garment under it, (cotton blend blouse is fine, for instance), its also not any hotter than these people who wear massive wigs and 3 petticoats. Summer = cotton blouse, hoop petticoat, underbust corset not laced completely closed and if possible, leaving off the modesty panel in back.

I have not tried a mesh corset yet but that's another option. Partial mesh underbust corset from Mystic City.

Better than fashion corsets but not as good as custom. Depends on your shape and your goals. They have corsets with a larger hipspring and accommodate for ribs and curves better than something like Orchard Corsets. Solid lower priced off the rack corset for some support. Most people recommend custom for any kind of real waist training or tight lacing but I don't think there's anything wrong with starting out with off the rack corsets providing your measurements accommodate the standard sizing and you don't have any issues with back or neck problems or asymmetry. My shape is less curvy, and my goal is general reduction, not a big curve so I prefer Orchard.

Agree unless you want extreme hourglass shaping which takes time anyway. As a basic supportive corset for your first or second one, they are really good. Steel bones, sturdy fabric, especially in cotton, well constructed, a good guarantee (that they actually make good on if you have a defective corset), and the codes, deals and sales make them pretty affordable compared to plastic boned junk which doesn't last through many wearings.
That said, I don't think you can get as dramatic of a rib-waist-hip curve in your look with Orchard as with Mystic but some of us actually prefer that more gentle (but still well supported) long smooth curve that Orchard gives.

Yes to start. I wear one since one year and I really like it. I'm not serious person to waist train but I also wanted back support, something more sturdy than ’fashion corset’. For Orchard, I feel like cs-201 is very pretty for lolita and I like the hip lacing for cs-426. I am thinking of getting one of these next so I mention them. My current corsets are cs-301 and cs-305, very plain, straight on the top and bottom and I like them both a lot. I can think of seeing some hooks on to put a lace decor maybe and ”flossing” is a beautiful traditional corset decor too. Pic related.

I think one reason ’serious corset people’ don't prefer Orchard is because they advise to get a custom corset asap for best possibility to start reducing, and I think that's correct for that application. But I feel also like the less expensive ”off the rack” steel bone corsets are good for moderate shaping and smoothing for we people who want more strength and durability than the plastic bone fashion corsets but aren't really into ’waist training’, if this makes sense? Most low reviews I see of Orchard are from these people who say ’save for a custom, don't buy readymade off the rack corsets’, not people saying Orchard (or Mystic, Timeless Trends) are bad quality items.

The main difference I see in these three companies is that Mystic supports a more dramatic extreme curve shape and has models with the cupped rib design, Orchard has the lowest cost for something good quality but their models are more ’basic’ and Timeless Trends has some of the prettiest fabrics plus a dyeable model.
Hope this helps, I really like the corset look for lolita, j-fashion and alt. fashion in general and I hope more people can try a corset for fun and appreciate this aesthetic. Yay for 8/8!

They do give me back support, and it feels comfortable to lace firm but not really tight. I did have some back pain but last year I decided to wear a corset, do some core muscle training exercises and get regular therapy style massage to improve my back pain and posture. I have better posture and very little back pain now. I wear a corset several days every week but not every day, and less often in summer because it is more hot, of course. Maybe we can have a December corset days of 10/10, 11/11 and 12/12 for the better winter weather!

I only reduce 2-3 inches but I could lace tighter if I wanted to, I'm guessing I can lace down 4-5 inches in my existing corsets to ’close’ them before I need a smaller size but only if I worked on it gradually and got used to the compression. But truthfully, I'm not that dedicated. I get a nice curve and some back support and that is right result for me!

The corsets and cord lacing of my 2 models is very sturdy! The eyelets are all still fine, none have loosened or popped out, the boning is slightly more curved, as they do when you lace over time at a reduction - so the corsets do mold to your body shape. The satin laces that Orchard sell are prettier, I got some in a colour to match a dress, but they are harder to lace more tightly than the lacing cord that comes standard in the corset.
So far, I mostly wear my corsets under the clothes, I use a soft singlet then the corset, then my blouse. But seeing this thread makes me want a new corset for 8/8 and makes me want to wear it more on top of lolita dresses, I have only done that a few times so far but now I will do it more!

Another topic, tight lacing corset wearers are very strict on the topic of corset fit, they will say this way of lacing in a V shape is ’wrong’, that your lacing should be in two vertical parallel lines but I think in lacing for fashion purposes, any kind of lacing pattern or form is ok as long as you aren't trying to lace any part too tight.

i'll never understand corset fads. i've only seen 2 instances where it looked good, and 99% of the time it always looks tacky.

I'm tall with quite a long torso, so lolita dresses often don't hit my waistline like they're supposed to. Corsets made for lolita would be perfect to define my waist properly.
The problem is, Japanese brands cater to people 20cm shorter than me, with smaller measurements. Is there any hope for me to fit into an Abilletage corset?
My measurements are 95/75/100

Well it’s means that the corset is not fitting properly, in this case the hips are far too big or the bust is too small.

The more important issue is the tying the laces around the corset, as that well ruin the corset over time

It basically is a fit issue, but getting fussy about lacing gap shape is more to do with uneven pressure on the corset which causes it to warp - a slight V is okay but the () shape or )( shape is going to put uneven strain on the corset and probably fuck it up faster, particularly if it is a corset that is actually designed to reduce the waist.
