Also take care of yourself if you're depressed that is something that you can work on. I can relate to idealizing suicide as well. You need to find a corner of your life that you have control of (for me its certain video games, or my phone being organized) and use that to prove to yourself that you CAN get control of your life. Then slowly spread that outward to other categories of your life.

Some perspective for you: I went with 5 online friends and WISH I would have gone alone because I could have had more fun socializing with new people and going places after the con. My friends all have egos and don't want to socialize with anyone outside of the group. Plus they were lazy and didn't want to do anything outside of buy stuff. But grass is always greener on the other side. Going with friends/going alone isn't going to single handedly make the con fun.

Don't get me wrong, Daikokuya is a really great price-to-quality ratio and I have no trouble recommending it to out-of-towners. I just cringe a bit when people call it the "best" of anything. It's comfort food. You go there to get reliable, unambitous flavor.

The generally regarded best ramen by locals (your mileage may vary) is Tsujita on the westside. Keep in mind that it's VERY rich, almost gravy-like, and that's before you get into the tsukemen. So if you're not looking for a super decadent experience with your ramen it may not be for you. It's also not gonna solve your "wait" problem because it's absurdly popular.

Tatsunoya (Pasadena) and Tengoku (Koreatown) both do a mean tonkotsu. Tasunoya is more "traditional" and Tengoku is more americanized/fusiony-y.

I also like Tatsu (it's a small chain) well enough, but I feel it's overhyped.

I'm still mad that they sold out of the Granblue grab bags as fast as they did. It's pretty light merch inside, but I really like all the nick nacks packed inside. Overall I just didn't see a lot of exclusive shit I REALLY wanted, and I didn't have time for the alley.

So im lookin at a clean 1500$ trip which I definitely felt. Lots of misery in this trip too so I can't say it was worth but I did pick up some nice art and I got some overall good experiences mixed in with the bad.

Probs will go again next year unless I find a con that's more worth it instead just because I didn't realize how fun conventions were.
