Post your convention horror stories
>at convention
>eating lunch with the gang outside
>girl comes up from behind me and puts a collar around my neck
>tries to pull me around because she thought I was cute
>thought for some reason I'd be okay with it

>walking through the dealers room in lolita
>notice a guy in my peripheral with his phone pointed towards what I believe might be me
>don’t really think much of it because we’re at a con and I’m surrounded by cosplays and merch so shrug it off as paranoia and keep moving
>everywhere I go he is there
>go to get food with friends at the cafe located in the convention center
>he is there
>go to artist area to visit a friend who’s vending and take a break
>he is there
>manga room to charge my phone
>he is there
>keep telling myself I’m just being paranoid and that all the places I’m going to are filled with people and I’m just making myself crazy thinking he’s following me
>go back to my hotel
>he is there....
>”okay that’s fine, there’s tons of con goers staying at the hotel so I’m sure he’s also staying here!”
>decide to change out of lolita in the bathroom before heading to my room just to be safe
>come out of the bathroom and he’s sitting in the lounge staring at the bathroom
>SCARED NOW and start walking towards the lounge because the elevators are right past the area
>HES STILL STARING AT THE BATHROOM
>get into elevator safely and realize he must not have recognized me outside of my outfit because I had a wig and circle lenses on
>later that night I’m looking through the con’s hashtag to see if anyone got a good pic of my coord
>find his IG and he posted his stalker photos as “We’re celebrating 2 months today so I surprised her by taking her to the convention. Sorry for no good pics, she’s really shy about taking pictures so I had to do them in secret. Love you babe!”

I immediately informed the con security about it, and my hotel security just to be safe. I flagged his posts for harassment and decided not to go back to the convention in lolita. It was a really scary experience that I don’t ever wish to have again.

There's nothing much to it. Or maybe there is but it's so traumatizing I can't even speak about it.
>be my first con
>cosplaying a trap which makes people direct their attention to my crotch even more
>wearing some old shorts underneath my skirt
>taking a few photos
>slav squat pose
>suddenly everyone around me goes "oh no", "oh...", "that's... not what I expected"
>at first I think it's them thinking I'm a certain sex and being surprised about it
>few minutes later
>get up
>check
>there is a hole too many in between my legs
>there is a hole in my shorts
>right on my crotch. not pelvis, not pubis, right between my legs, right THERE
>start apologizing profusely
>nearly in tears
>rush out to go fix my shorts in some side alley with my small sewing kit
>friend comes over to check if im okay
>"y-you um... you do have underwear underneath right...?"
>OF COURSE I DO WHAT KIND OF SLUT DO YOU THINK I AM
>does everybody think I'm one of those pervert creep sluts now
>keep apologizing the rest of the day
>my mood is absolutely sour and ruined
>never wearing old, too-tight shorts ever again.

Good work; we need to stomp that shit out and make it abundantly clear it is fucked up and not gonna fly. I hear too much shit like this, at least online, just being brushed off.

Thanks guys! At first I wanted to brush it off and just stick close with friends but I wanted to retaliate for him making me feel violated. So rather than punch him in the face, I got him in trouble with some authority figures lol. Last I heard via con security is that he got his badge taken away since I sent them screenshots of his IG. I’m not sure if he’ll attend again next year but I’ll be on high alert

Dunno if this counts but it was horrible for me at least
>on the fence about going to a con
>Person we will call C says he has a full room and if floor space is okay I can have that
>ask him how much, he says he wants full price the same as people with beds
>tell him lol no
>Say I'll bring booze and some snacks if that's acceptable instead
>he agrees
>last day of the con not going to stick around for the sunday shit got work monday
>C comes up to me asks me about money for the room
>ask him what he means remind him about the snacks/booze
>C: Uhh actually I don't recall that I said I'd knock the price down but not make it free
>dude wants some insane amount that would basically be the same as a hotel room
>go back and forth for a while end up giving him like 50 bucks and telling him that's it
>later goes and tells all my friends I screwed him out of cash and free loaded
>year later back at the con see some of the roommates from that convention
>find out C had basically overcharged all them for cash and didn't even pay for times he stayed with them and was kicked out of some cons for badge ghosting

Aside from that the only other bad time was with thirsty cosplayers

Yeah no shit. Luckily the dude has basically been ejected from all known cons that I've gone to in the past year.

The most annoying thing wasn't the actual paying him 50 bucks to fuck off, it was all the bullshit misinfo he spread there after.

The worst is nerds that just come up when you're talking to somebody about something and they try to correct somebody or something to start some sort of argument.
It happens all the fucking time and it's annoying as shit. It's always about dumb shit too, like whether the little black balls are called soot or dirt in Spirited Away

Not really a con horror story, more like a con accommodation story

>Hotel cons are not a thing in my country, so all con-goers scatter across the city in different hotels/airbnbs
>Friends and I were late in booking an accommodation, our usual airbnbs were already booked by someone else
>Had to get a shitty airbnb because nothing else was left
>In a shit part of town, literally next to a burnt building
>The airbnb is an old wooden house with a shared shower in the front yard
>Everything is a bit shitty and probably moldy, but at least the con is good
>First night back at the airbnb, everyone's already asleep
>Suddenly someone from the outside starts violently banging the door in the middle of the night
>Our entire group is inside sleeping, no-one is outside
>Oh fuck no
>We don't open the door, banging stops eventually, we go back to sleep
>Morning comes
>Look outside and see that someone is passed out in the yard, halfway inside the shared shower building
>What the fuck
>Ask the neighbours if it's someone they know
>They are as clueless as we are
>Neighbours go outside nonetheless and wake the person up
>The person gets up and I shit you not, tries to break into our car
>We call the cops
>They take the person into custody
>Later talk to the airbnb owner, the person in the yard was a previous tenant who got forcibly evicted (probably from the time when the apartment wasn't an airbnb yet) and tried to come back
>Thank god we didn't open that door

We're never leaving con accommodation to last minute again

In a Scandinavian country. It's not a thing in here, literally never seen that before. It just added to the fact how shitty the airbnb was, the house was probably built in the fifties for working class mining/construction/forest workers who moved to the city from the countryside. Why the fuck was it turned into airbnb is beyond me.

>> No.10223936

>>Why the fuck was it turned into airbnb is beyond me.
>dont need to look for or deal with long term tenants
>twice the money per day at minimum because people are willing to pay more for short-term accomodations (just like real hotels)
>people desperate for a place to stay for business trip/con/visit will rent practically anything
>practically no laws regulate it in any meaningful way settings standards or baselines for quality
>renters have no real legal protections or rights unlike an actual tenant
why wouldn't someone turn it into an airbnb?
