I hate industry panels because no new news ever happened, anime premiers are pointless when you read a manga, and celebrity Q&As are a shitshow.

Am I missing anything for musical events and concerts or is there only idols at AX this year? One year there was AKFG in the surrounding venues but I don't think I even saw any concerts around the area this year. There was also Miss monochrome but I didn't see her in the scheduling this time. No vocaloids like Luka, anything. I don't think I'm going last minute this year, I usually come for the music but not really for the idolfagging, or at least only the idolfagging. Oh I also did not see anything about raves at night. Neon district was great.

Miss Monochrome only happened because a company was trying to promote their MMD clone so ponied up the cash two years in a row for bringing over Hocchan.

Though with how much of a flop last year was due to 95% of the "concert" being people waiting for the Overlord premiere right after, and them probably not having much money to blow after fruitless spending the last two years, I doubt it'll happen again.

That said, iirc both times they announced activities with under a month to go (probably why her panels were in such tinyass rooms that were filled with premieres alone). So it COULD still happen. I'd much rather see Hocchan again than Aqours at least. At least she's actually relevant instead of being a cancer on the industry.

It's pretty common knowledge that you'll almost always find Exhibit Hall merch for cheaper prices online, I just wonder if there are any benefits to buying actual artistic hardware on site instead of say Amazon or what have you.

I go every week and it’s basically skid row. Saw some dude peeling huge scabs off his arm last week, a naked nigger trying to rape cars at the main intersection (purple patrol got him), and you will be constantly affronted by homeless asking for change.
Luckily on weekends their is a group of security guards in the main areas, that keep them away for the most part, but walking from one area to say kinyo it’s impossible to miss.
Really all of DTLA is a complete shithole right now, and you may as well think of the entire area as skid row. It’s part of the reason I stopped working security in DTLA, not worth the money to be shanked by the walking dead.

Technically the novo has a total for the two days of 4800. Microsoft theater has a max of 7100 but didn't sell out (the mezzanine seats) so the ticket sales are probably similar

It's not a problem for fans to want to go both days, hell, any hardcore fan should want to go to any and every concert of their favorite act.

I'm guessing they'd just rather be able to brag that they completely sold out instead of what happened last year - where they sold out, opened up nosebleed seats, couldn't sell out of those, and ended up at like 90% sold instead.

Performing in a fully sold out venue in the US sounds a lot better than whatever total head count there is in a larger one that doesn't sell out. Not like anyone in Japan knows the difference between Staples Center, Microsoft Theater, or the Novo.

At the end of the day, all these concerts and guests are just Japanese executives taking turns putting their dicks on the table over who can bring the bigger and better act.
