That being said, would anyone be up for an Archive General? I feel like with the direction the internet is headed, a lot of history will be lost soon. We could upload what we already archived and what cgl has already posted over the years, share tools and instructions, share what we have found, share scans, anons could voice requests, maybe we could even organize some groups every thread to effectively save the massive amount of content on lj to the waybackmachine.
You know, just a data collection that is easy to search for and regularly updated and a place to talk about old stuff.

The cover for volume three is out and I'm starting to lose hope that a translation is going to happen. I emailed the publishers saying there's interest in the West for an English translation and I didn't get a response, and we haven't heard from the people who said here that they were working on it in a long time. I hope they're still going. My previous offer to buy copies of the book for scanlators and to support a scanlation effort through donation or Patreon are still open, I'm sure lots of other lolitas would be interested in seeing this translated too.

I can't speak Japanese but I've had moderate success by using various translation services, comparing their results, and turning it into understandable English. I associate the behaviour of the ones wearing it/looking for it more than anything else. TN: First I’d like to know, what is the appeal of lolita fashion in your view?

AM: All women, no matter how old they are, keep a wish within them to become a princess, which lolita fashion helps to come true. There is a kind of girly sparkling atmosphere, a “kawaii magic” that permeates everything in lolita.

TN: The main character, Mami, in the manga [The Clothes I Want to Wear], is a university student who has passed her Japanese Teaching Staff Examination and will start as an elementary school teacher next spring. Since wearing lolita every day as normal clothes makes you stand out, there is a scene in the manga where she questions whether the clothes will have an effect on her job. You are known for working as both a model and a nurse at the same time, so I’d like to ask you if lolita fashion has had an impact on your nursing job, positive or negative?

AM: Yes it has. In a positive way, it has broadened my field of view on things. Both in being a lolita model and a nurse, they share the aspect of making people smile, but in completely different ways and spheres. Since these worlds are so different but come from the same root, it helps me see both in a balanced way.

AM: On the other hand about negative effects, unfortunately, as you might expect, people do tend to think of you as a strange person. Especially for jobs where you’re in contact with children, their guardians might look at you extra strictly and ask to discuss your clothing choices (it happens to me, too). When I’m a nurse, I change into my nurse uniform so I suppose it’s fine in my case. In big cities there are tea parties where you can meet other lolitas but how do you make lolita friends in small towns?

AM: Nowadays we have social media so it’s different than it was in my teens~20s, and it’s not necessary to take trips from small towns into the city like it once was. You can make friends online and arrange small scale tea parties with 4-5 people in your local area. This way it makes it easier for people all over Japan to enjoy lolita fashion and it makes me really happy to see that. My goal is to promote lolita fashion and I want to see more lolitas out and about on the street, however, if you don’t have a chance to wear it out and prefer to wear it indoors, you can update your social media with your coord, and enjoy wearing lolita in your own preferred way.

Some sad news that I don't think was posted. TyakeTyoke closed on May 24, 2019. The brand is suspended and they'll finish out remaining orders.
This was a shop that did make custom shoes in a large range of sizes. They also had the option for leather. For those that don't fit standard Japanese shoe sizes, they were an excellent option as you could customize the color/heel/size/straps. They collaborated with a lot of different brands, one being JetJ.

I'm really sad about this and I wish I would have ordered more shoes is the past.

At least I bought a pair of JetJ collab shoes from them. The idea they’re never going to get a rerelease is really sad to me.

I think maybe if they did more lolita styled shoes, they could’ve gotten Chinese lolita’s money. I think catering to sweet a bit more and collabing with AP or Baby would’ve probably have saved them. Classic lolita brands have been suffering and the cosplay inspired brands like Super Groupies don’t really have that kind of power and following.

There have been at least one or two videos showcasing images from here, particularly ones where the names were covered with specific colors and in ways that were also posted here. (They were particularly conversations from Rufflechat that had been edited). Either a) she pulled them from here b) she made them herself or someone she knows did and then posted them or c) they were posted on a separate site that no one knows about. Considering that her videos came out about some of these subjects almost a day after they were posted here, (and these screens were posted here before said threads were quickly deleted), it's safe to assume the first one is the most likely. I don't remember if there were any videos that had screenshots of the board itself, though, but probably not.

I use to watch her videos often, especially when it came to more serious subjects, but lately it's just been a lot of words without saying much.

The video was just plain misrepresenting cgl, at least in its modern state. Back in the day we had tons of lolcows and drama. It's still a 4chan(nel) board, so it's still full of salt and trolls, but there is definitely a community and a lot of nice anons here. There are a lot of great things on this board right now. Just off the top of my head, there's the translators in this thread, honey cake sock anon, draw threads, dd threads (minus scalpers) (I know telephone chan got her skirt months ago, but I just wanna say congrats rn anyway. That was such a good thread and thinking about it makes me happy), all the threads that are literally just inspo dumbs (because this IS and imageboard, after all), sewing threads, bst threads (especially when anons offer discounts to gulls), and there's tons of other stuff that I'm probably forgetting. I'd be lying if I said I'd never posted someone to the ita thread, and the beauty of anonimity is that you can be an asshole and get away with it, but it also brings out the best in people and shows that people can be nice without any alterior motives. Every time this site makes me lose faith in humanity, something happens here that immediately restores it. I love you guys, salt and all. Being a bitch for keks is great fun, but I love being apart of a group of strangers who work together to create great things.
