I think that VM and MM have a particular aesthetic about them that is quite recognisable and the indie brands look...well, quite generic. Add to that the fact that they stopped getting featured in the GLBs and didn't have iconic/inspiring advertisements, and you can see why people are less bothered by them. I have had this issue of buying clothes that are too large for me lately. I have a few items that I would wear more often if I didn't have to pin the waist everytime. I'm not sure why I keep overestimating my size.
