Depends on if you're willing to put in the effort, time, and money it takes to bleach/re dye roots and dealing with the hair damage. I'd say maybe getting a cute blonde wig to try out first before going in to see if you really want to go through with it or not. Darker hair colors for kogal can look cute too tho/

My favourite loafers are from Melissa. You can do it with dark hair, but it looks better and more recognisable with blonde hair. Once you know how to do it and found the right products, you can easily dye your own hair to save money.

You mean things from Taobao etc.? Afaik it's more difficult to track down specific releases secondhand, they're nowhere near as common as Japanese brand, and the popular releases tend to go for a lot of money. Sorry I can't be of more help.

I'm generally thin, but I have naturally thick calves which makes it impossible to fit in any brand printed legwear without warping the design beyond recognition. I have muscular calves too, but perhaps because I'm very short, relatively it may not be as bad as others situations...many tights and socks warp on me but not to an extreme amount. but I wear brand socks with horizontal stripes a lot for sweet, such as the cotton candy shop OTKs, and they look fine. i think what people say about horizontal stripes making you look wider is nonsense really. so yeah, I think you just have to have an eye for what patterns will work for you. and maybe try some of the smaller brands, like heart E and MAM, I have some socks from them that are super stretchy

Fellow thick calf (and thigh) anon here. Mufish makes the most comfortable and stretchy tights. Also a lot of cute patterned lolita tights on Taobao/AliExpress are actually quite good. So, L size bust with M size waist here. Maybe it's different, but imo, the best look is to avoid boobloaf at all costs. So go up a size. The waist you can deal with later, cinch it if it looks too loose or just let it be loose if it doesn't look too bad. I've found that with a drastic difference in boobs/waist it's sometimes better to just have the waist look bigger so my boobs don't look so heavy.

As for losing weight, if it's not your dream dress, I'd lose weight first and then worry about the dress after you're down to your ideal size. Sometimes the weight doesn't come off where you expect it should.

I'm the same as you and I stick to dresses that have shirring or waist ties. It's actually not that bad if they are a bit loose around the waist as long as you can adjust it in some way. The top priority should always be to have the best fit around the chest area. If a dress is too loose around the chest area, it'd look 100x worse and looking like a stuffed sausage also isn't an option.
I also avoid OP's and stick to JSK's because the extra layer with a blouse or bolero can conceal the bagginess of a dress to some extend.

A full coord still gets you the fastest payoff and you can learn from your mistakes as you go, rather than hoarding a bunch of things that you can't wear for the next couple of years only to find out some of them don't suit you, don't actually go together, or some other problem you didn't foresee has cropped up and now your carefully hoarded wardrobe just sits there incomplete and still unwearable.

If you want full versatility, work it into your planning. Stick with jsks and skirts so you can mix-and-match, pick out a substyle, a theme and/or a basic colour scheme and stick to it, keep your wardrobe on pinterest or something and keep going back to see what you can add to maximise coords out of your main pieces, make sure what you buy can be matched with your existing basics/basics that can also match your other existing main pieces.

The only really basic item that truly works across everything is bloomers, and maybe a white high collar blouse (and even then if you're gothic maybe it's better to get black, or you might just prefer everything in lavender). Everything else depends on the dress you buy, the length of the skirt and the shape determines the petticoat you need. The cut of your jsk decides the blouse or cardigan you need, a skirt requires an opaque blouse, etc etc. Many ways to go wrong if you start at either basics or main pieces without thinking about a full outfit.

nayrt, if you have big boobs, skirts aren't always ideal. The contrast between a lighter blouse and a small waist accentuated by a colourful skirt can sometimes overemphasise your blouse and make it look top-heavy.

Dresses turn your whole body into one visual block instead of emphasising your top or bottom as seperate halves, so they're often easier to work with if you can get around the bust/waist fit difference.

I'm fairly new but I went in with a lot of planning. My advice is to split the difference. Get clothes that can work as a coord AND as basics. I started out by buying...

>2x shirts (a very casual cutsew and a blouse)
>4x plain tights or OTKs in different colors

>1x good quality petti (I got a Rose petti from melikestea bc it's in between A-line and cupcake)
>undershirt, bloomers, underskirt if you're tall, etc.

Wait until you get it, and then see what else it needs to look "right" on you. Just because you like something in pictures that doesn't mean it will suit you irl. You might like the look of OTT sweet but look and feel better in gothic, for example.

In my case I found I needed a wig bc my head looked small and disconnected from my coord, bigger + better bracelets, fake eyelashes, and different headwear. I also discovered that I felt clownish in a full-blown frilly coord, so I invested in more cutsews and different less princessy shoes.

After that, I bought two JSKs that could be worn with or without a blouse and two more skirts.

It depends what you want to wear. If you like to mostly wear dresses, it doesn't matter that much - 26-27" is fine for most stuff. If you like old-school, skirts, and BPN/Peace Now 62-63cm is better.
