Be sure to take your time when walking. It'll be over in a second so try to count time in your head when holding your poses!

>> No.10158789

>>10158765
Make sure to pay attention to your arm movement, don’t flail them around like a sped. And try and move naturally, there are some models that get chosen that are so stiff it’s unpleasant to watch.

>> No.10158808

>>10158788
Seconding this, you're probably gonna get nervous and walk too fast/rush your poses, so take slow breathes and walk more slowly than your average pace. If anything, if you're a little slower than other models, it's better than being too fast. Also practice your poses in front of a mirror, a lot, while walking so that if feels natural to "step into them".

Also, if you're not being provided shoes by AP, make sure you don't bring knockoffs like antaina or bodyline, and if they do provide socks/tights for you do NOT walk around in them without shoes on in order to keep them clean.

Recently modeled for Moitie, here's some things I learned:

I also recommend watching a few Youtube videos on how to walk/pose for the runway (even better if you look up past Lolita brand fashion shows to get ideas). I'd say it's good to have a total of 3-5 poses down before rehearsal and try to make them look as natural as possible. During rehearsal & the actual show, be very aware of where you're stepping as sometimes the lights become blindingly bright. Try to look like you're happy to be there--there's a fine balance between looking fashion model-fierce and looking straight up serious-gloomy. I also find that if you walk TOO quickly, you're more likely to lose your footing.

Congrats on making it in!

100% not trying to defend myself because I know I'm a cheap-ass hobolita but the reason I've never bought AP shoes is because I havent seen significant quality difference and I dont particularly love current designs. I have a closet full of brand but any penny-pinching I can get away with, I do.

I'd be willing to buy AP shoes for the show but I'd need to know theyd match the dress I was wearing. Should I buy generic "match all" white shoes? What are the odds they will provide me with shoes? My feet are about average size.

What happens if I show up in offbrand shoes? Will they not let me walk? No where in the email or model application does it say I need to bring my own AP shoes but now all of you anons have me panicked

>> No.10159477

>>10159467

For the Moitie fashion show fitting we were told to bring both white and black pairs of shoes, I don't think they will provide you with shoes unless you're really lucky & another model happens to bring an extra pair and lets you borrow them. It would probably look better to bring brand shoes, but maybe generic white shoes will still work. If in doubt, contact the person who sent you the acceptance email.

>>10159036
NAYRT but its actually pretty unprofessional to expect models to have brand shoes and not explicitly state it somewhere in the application process. i have walked for fashion shows many times and they always clearly state whether or not shoes will be provided, and if not what color/style/brand you will need to bring. on top of that, its pretty stupid to expect people to have matching footwear for a runway look that you havent seen.

>> No.10159479

All AP show requirements I've seen before have had models provide their own shoes, so I doubt they will provide them this time. If you're really that cheap you could wear reps if they don't say the off brand name. I know I've accidently bought some tea parties that have the AP logo on the inside. I would say just suck it up and buy brand shoes or decline to model for them and let someone who actually supports the brand model.

Day 1 at in the Grand Plaza in Union Station will have beautiful and natural overhead light from the high and giant windows even on cloudy days. Day 2 looks like warmer, dimmer and all artificial light unless you catch people arriving outside. Other than that, I'd plan to take the most photos on day 1, bring a light meter (or use an app) and be prepared to adjust white balance and exposure if you take day 2 photos. Rather they will probably be more careful that VIP and Golden levels aren't invaded by rude, entitled children again. The VIP parties have always been 21+ and that's a specific highlight of the weekend and part of their appeal. Yes under-21 people have been VIP but they do not expect to go to the 21+ bar party. It's not usually an issue. There are other VIP and Golden Ticket benefits besides a karaoke party and in general, plenty of activities planned all weekend, enough for everyone to enjoy several extra activities. Missing one activity is not enough of a tragedy to ~demand compensation~ unless someone is really that much of a spoiled drama queen? And no, before someone thinks it, I'm not Paradiso staff. I'm just a repeat VIP attendee. It's a fun event and I enjoyed it a lot.

But if that makes people so offended that she charges what the market will bear, and probably funds her wardrobe via buying and selling, then you are free not to buy from her? A lot of people fund their hobbies that way, buying smart and reselling. Yes.
Midwesterners hide from the constant raging tornadoes in their basements six days a week, and then on Wednesdays (when they’re immune) they completely rebuild their entire flattened town overnight. The process repeats itself for months.

Reflect upon how much you see tornadoes on national news vs. hurricanes, and you will soon find the answer why.
