Anyone ever got customs on a bodyline order? got a buttload of stuff in my cart that comes to about $100 (shoes, yknow) and i've never ordered from bodyline before despite being in the fashion for years. Will it be shipped in a giant box? Don't want to spend loads to get scammed/ lost in the mail/ order is split up and some of it lost etc etc. I know bodyline doesn't really respond when shit hits the fan so i'd love to hear some experiences.

The shrine maiden outfit is the worst stain wise. The entire back is stained pink.

Otherwise it looks fine. 2L was the smallest size they had in stock so hopefully I won't drown in it with enough tying.

The Snow White looks good but smells like absolute death. This is the first Bodyline item I've had that just smells like mildew and chemicals and it's just awful. I'll probably have to stick it outside to air out before I wash it.

So gulls the other day I decided to go down the rabbit hole of searching the Bodyline tag on lolibrary and I was.... Honestly really surprised?

50% of the main pieces I saw were ita but 50% (even pieces from 2004) were actually pretty cute. I joined the fashion in 2012 so I'm really curious about these older pieces, some of which it looks like Yan II is bringing back to the site. (See L256 and L068.)

If you could have Yan II bring back any Bodyline pieces, what would be your top choices for resurrection?

I lowkey wish they would bring back some of their solid pieces. A bunch of them were fairly decent and on the simpler side, which made them perfect for wardrobe padding. I know that nowadays taobao mostly took over bodyline's position within the fashion, giving people access to cheap lolita items, but I still find that there's a niche in the market that hasn't been filled yet. Solid pieces made by taobao brands are often plastered with delicate details and lots and lots of lace, which makes them fairly hard to dress down, or they're just downright terrible in terms of design or construction (more often than not very flimsy, just as some of BLs print dresses).

The only shop I can think of that is putting out solid pieces fairly consistently is Little Dipper, but their designs sometimes feel a bit hit and miss too.

How long does Pmail usually take to arrive in the US? A month or so?

this is why I never recommend Taobao to newbies anymore. I have Taobao pieces from multiple brands and I'm extremely unimpressed with them. Bodyline surpasses most in construction and material choice any day, and that's taking into account all the loose threads (though to be fair Taobao still has its fair share of those too.)

Taobao is great for fancy, delicate and elaborate (in appearance) dresses which are very difficult for someone new to the fashion with little in the means of a wardrobe to actually properly coord. Naturally though when you point them in the direction of Taobao, those are the exact dresses they buy because they get excited.

Steer them towards Bodyline and really you kind of can't go wrong as long as you remind them to avoid the shiny material and the costume section at first.

Is Bodyline L479 any good? It looks a lot like a Millefleurs dress that I own and also like MM Delice Fleur, which I don’t, but different enough that I wouldn’t consider it a replica of either. Definitely one of their nicer pieces. The fabric is on the heavier side - the solid is like velveteen and the patterned bit is not quite like tapestry, but fairly heavy. And the lace is cotton IIRC.

While minor, there were a bunch of loose threads floating around. None of them seemed to be from seams, but they were all from the dress it looked like.
It's much more red than what the picture would show, and the material is slightly thin. It definitely looks like it'd bleed if it got wet.
The lace is absolutely atrocious. It's definitely stiff and scratchy. For the most part, it looks easily replaceable. You could even pull it out by hand on the apron's straps.
The hardest part to replace would be the heart pockets, but I just might remove the lace and let them be simple heart pockets with a bow.
The lace in >>10119273 just seems to go over top the corset lacing and dosen't seem like removing it would be an issue.
The collar is a bit weird so I may also replace it like >>10119474 mentioned. Not sure if I'll also replace the lace with simple ruffled cotton or if I want to use cotton eyelet lace.

how is the fit on s535? I measured my foot and got 24.6cm, I usually wear 9 or 9.5 in American sizes. they only go up to 250 and that should work in theory but I'm wary since bl shoe fit reviews seem to run all over the place. advice, anons?

Finally bought some things from the sale. Really hoping I don't get fucked by them again, the last time I ordered something was when they were making the site switch and I had to actually go to PayPal to get a refund.

Someone asked for a review of L553 in offwhite ages ago but I didn't get around to it until now, sorry!
It's a super cute, lightweight bolero. The material was very soft right out of the bag and feels good against the skin. It's a very transparent material but that's a plus for me because it makes for good layering. The bow on the front is detachable, the bolero itself fastens with a little bead and fabric hook around the front.
The only thing I don't really like are the sleeves, they're pretty tight around the arm hole so I can only wear a thin blouse under it but they sort of balloon out a bit around the end so they're loose at the wrist. It's not awful but it's not really flattering - I have pretty dainty-looking arms and they make my lower arms and wrists look bulkier than they really are. They also end at a weird spot for me, not exactly on my wrist but also not far up the arm enough either. My arms are pretty short though so I don't think I'd recommend it if you have longer arms because it'd probably look even weirder on someone with long arms.
Definitely worth the 15 bucks though, I like it apart from the sleeves.

It has been awhile since I used it, but you can find tutorials on YouTube with more information.
I believe you prep the surface with alcohol. Past that I am not to sure. Make sure to work in thin layers and don't get spooked if it looks streaky at first. It will get better as you go if you keep it thin. You will probably have to do a lot of coats to get to white, which might put it in danger of cracking in the long run. Overall it is really good paint though.

The dress itself is a mid-tier fabric. The lace is relatively nice (mostly cotton/torchon). It can handle a medium petticoat like pan078 (the trim and ruffles are heavy and will need support).
I recommend reinforcing the detachable sleeve attachments. Mine popped a button on the first wear and the elastic is cheap.
