Journal/Blog: Typically has stand-alone content. Think of it like a news article.

Forum/Board/Message Board: An original poster makes a topic. Other people reply to it. Topics with multiple replies are threads. Typically many people post on them.

Social media is like a newer (as in 2006ish to today) form of forums/message boards. But you create the post, blog style and people respond thread style and share it.

A forum/board relies on these threads to function. Whereas a blog does not.

Livejournal is an old blogging platform that has existed since the 90's, and most of the lolita community used it exclusively until social media sites like Facebook and Tumblr took over. (Now it's Instagram).

4chan is a message board site that hosts many sub-boards by topic. /cgl/ is one such a board here on 4chan.

Facebook is a social media site.

Referring to /cgl/ as Livejournal would be like saying that you purchased your latest lolita dress from Burger King because Burger King sells things and therefore all places that sell things must be Burger King.

These 2 platforms can be platforms that give hate a voice. On BTB has feeds which Lolitas have attacked people with medical issues or equipment required. Recently they attacked someone for using a cane, another because her hair was to thin due to a medical condition. The "Retar ed" word is used, they will body shame (especially over weight), ridicule physical looks (hair, face, body shape) and so forth. I am merely stating I am aware of the platforms. Postings are done with no regard to a person's mental, physical and emotional well being not caring how it could affect people. One feed has gone so far as to ridicule why darker skin tone Lolitas will garnish more 'likes.' The postings are done behind the cowardness of being 'anon.' Hell, as a newbie I was super-enthusiastic and wanted to share my love of a newfound fashion. I found out lots of cool things and wanted to share them.

Unfortunately, most activity for the fashion happens online. There is a certain threshold of normal conversation / interaction / sharing that people can take before it becomes obnoxious. It's clear that you're probably new to using the internet. Most lolitas that have been active for a long time have been in it when you had to have some internet savvy to learn about the fashion or even find items. It was when everyone in this circle had some sort of techie streak. These days you don't need it. But the expectations and social interactions in communities have remained the same.

You talk "loudly" about things you don't understand. By loud, I mean making many posts, sharing lots of photos, posting things willy-nilly. You haven't gotten a grasp of the fashion yet. I'm sorry this may sound hurtful, but keep in mind, most of us didn't have a full grasp either when we started. Some worse than others.

You need to take time to learn. You need to take time to figure out how many bows to put on your head and how to organize them in a way that looks appropriate. You need to simplify, both in your actions online and the amount of clutter, bright colors and craziness in your coords. Simple is elegant. Simple is more.
