I would disagree on that. The fact that hers looked exactly like the aliexpress charm gives me doubt she just accidentally happened to whip it up together in the exact same fashion.

I think she started gaining popularity and notoriety around the time of Le Petit Prince and the Deer releases, and I recall that there were issues with those releases, mainly torso sizing issues. I think she always was a divisive sort of person. I personally find it hard to place trust in her pieces with all the sizing issues she's had and her dresses fitting the sorts of people that I'm not.

Seconding >>10132770 that it's generally soft/otome or just wearing lolita brand pieces in non lolita but rather generally eclectic and girly coords. Usually lolitas go more towards classic or very subdued sweet/gothic in a professional setting, favouring A line skirts over bell shapes and either with very low poof or forgoing the petticoat completely.

If wearing prints it's important to take motifs into consideration. I wear gothic and I know it's probably not appropriate to wear a dress covered in coffins or religious symbols just as it wouldn't be appropriate to wear a dress covered in stuffed animals or cupcakes. Of course if your workplace allows you to wear those things then great but most daily lolitas save those pieces for their days off. Florals are generally a safe bet though. Another thing to consider in terms of your environment is colours, things like neutrals and darker jewel tones are likely to go down better than say shocking AP pink or a full on pastel coord. For sweet this is harder, but depending on how muted you go for pastels and if you balance them with muted greys, browns and other neutrals you can probably make it work.

Also even if you can't wear full lolita coords, if you work in a place where people dress decently nice you really can't go wrong with wearing classic/gothic brand blouses. A lot of sweet brands make blouses that only really work in full lolita coords, but brands like VM and MmM make very classy, detailed but still understated blouses that you can coordinate into your work wardrobe. Main pieces in a similar vein as >>10131518 are also pretty easy to assimilate into classy outfits which have a lolita essence but are work appropriate.

TDLR; It can be done, most lolitas just coord their brand pieces in less attention grabbing, slightly formal looking outfits than textbook lolita ones. Overall it's a lot of things you have to tailor to your specific workplace, especially if you wanna wear AP sweet.

I was in kind of the same boat with the Graveyard of Dragons jsk, and in the end I went with the white/blue instead of the black/brown, and I'm glad I did. The black/brown seemed to fit in better with my wardrobe and be more practical overall, but the white/blue ended up feeling really pretty and magical and special.

So if you feel like the black is a better choice, but the white keeps drawing you in...might be worth it to step outside of your comfort zone a bit.

I've machine washed mine before on gentle and it was fine. Make sure you press the ruffles in the right direction as it dries though, since it's a fairly thick and stiff material it will look off if it dries wrong.

Nah, the quality's too good. That bridal netting being soft and fine enough to gather and tie into a soft fluffy bow alone is expensive stuff newbies don't even bother with, they'd substitute the closest, cheapest hard tulle they can find and complain that elitist brandwhores don't like their $5 homemade version with stiff itchy tulle.

Then there's the eyelash lace, and the dress being all curves but still nicely symmetrical. The even gathers. The pro-level edging on that really flimsy ruffle-fin material. Fabric seems to have an interesting sheen as well, though it's hard to tell if it's actually good without being able to see it in person.

It's a weird-looking dress and knowing JetJ it's probably still way overpriced, but the quality isn't that low.

Honestly there's some days when I pull everything out of my wardrobe and then end up with a totally different coord than the one I was trying to make. Other days I sometimes end up with repeat coords but well, that's life. Some coords just look nice and should be worn more than once. Either that or I need more different blouses and stuff.

If you're talking about new dresses, I like to buy them in sets so they're ready to wear as soon as they get here, just toss in a white/ivory/black blouse and matching bag and shoes set. I can always get creative with them later, I just like that it's ready to go as soon as it arrives rather than creating a uniquely creative coord and then not having any other way to coord it other than the "creative" coord I first made with it.
