Concrit on this coord I'm planning? Is it too much pink?

Meta has some plain navy horizontal stripes in right now, but I personally find horizontal stripes overdone. I'd add some navy on your head and get navy shoes for color balance, then find pink diagonal stripe or sprinkle/ice cream pattern tights.

Personally, I think the style is fine. It does lean more classic, but I'm more using it for color balance as the focal point will be the ice cream anyway.

I'll swap out the headbows for something sweeter. Currently looking at Kira Kira Milky Way accessories as a possible replacement.
I'm still really hung up on the socks though. I can't seem to find any I like. The pink stripes just seem too weeby/costumey and I cant disagree that the first option for them fell flat as well.

Overall what is your inspiration for this coordinate? Is this for a specific event? Is there a specific theme you have in mind? Will weather be a factor? Is there a specific look or feeling you would like to emulate with this coord?

OTT pastel vomit was the idea but I dont usually coordinate dark colors OR OTT looks so I'm a bit lost (obviously)

I put together an extremely shitty collage in paint to see what the actual pieces would look like on my body.
I'm pretty sure I'm going to also try to track down some navy wrist cuffs and swap out the socks for something else.
Also might forgo the ice cream and bows for a large headbow instead.

It's a potential coord for an event this summer and will likely be hot as balls but I live in an extremely hot climate so I'm pretty used to it.

First: Go to Claire's--hear me out--and get some of their alligator clip-in small to medium bows. Their selection is usually good in stores and they usually always have deals so you can buy multiple for cheap. I like to use these to add into pre-existing headpieces like I tried to demonstrate to add a bit of flair and customization. You can also get packs of the tiny ones and clip them to pieces of your outfit.

The necklace you had previously was cute, but the navy and pink combo is a bold one, and I think the mints and yellows were a bit much to throw in as well, so instead I slid in a necklace and additional hairclips from Twylitefashion's etsy. Having a navy necklace on the pink blouse would help the chunk of navy of the dress and the chunk of the pink of the blouse transition more smoothly together I think.

What I struggled with most was legwear; like a previous anon mentioned I think pink crew socks are still 100% your best bet, however keeping in mind they're not your favorite I looked for alternatives. Closetchild has the Meta CL Night Carnival socks which might work if you don't mind the slightly random balloon and pony motifs, but then you'd need pink shoes. Ideally if you want otks I'd shoot for something like the AP Fancy Box OTKs, but since they're not up for sale now (that I've seen anyways) I included slightly similar bluexpink diagonal stripe otks from Lolita Collective which are probably my least favorite desu. A bit busy. Lastly I found these Merrygoround tights for sale on LM that might actually work really well but then you'd need to switch to pink shoes.

I really don't recommend the Lolita Collective socks due to their business but I wanted to include them anyways to help give ideas. If you found something in the same vein with softer colors it could work since the diagonal stripes would coin ide with the diagonal stripe accents on the dress.

How do you get out of the stage where your coords are just "good"?
I've been in the fashion for a while now, but I feel stuck in a space where my coords are decent but just....boring.

Honestly it might not be your coordinates that are the problem. It could be a number of other things.

Are your poses interesting and dynamic? Are your photos clear and bright? Do you edit the lighting and clarity? Are your backgrounds interesting or at the least clean and neat? You could have a perfect coordinate, but poor lighting, a dull photo, and a messy background will cause people to ignore it while scrolling.

Your coordinate may be perfect but is it neat? Are your shoes clean? Are your clothes pressed and steamed, free of wrinkles? Is your hair (or wig) combed and neat or are there flyaways, messy untrimmed bangs, etc?

you don't have to push the lolita envelop and always be innovative and interesting.

if you're bored with your coordinates, then make albums on your computer of the pieces you own and use that to figure out where you're lacking. do you need more shoes? do you need more cardigans and blouses? are you lacking in accessories?

also, make albums for the dresses you do own and save other coordinates that inspire you. i have a whole album of AP coordinates sorted by print name on my desktop and it helps a lot seeing how other people coordinate the prints i have and taking inspiration from that.

Honestly, its not bad. I would change the entire head though. The ice-cream head-bow looks cheap and the black/pearl head-bow matches nothing. I'm having a hell of a time balancing out the different colors in the print. I have a couple blouses that can match the pink and yellow stripes or the off-white lace, but they all wind up looking waaaay too pastel and sugary sweet when contrasted with the print, which is very dark and graphic, kind of comic book style. i think i kind of get the direction you were going for, but nothing about it is working. don't consider those creepers for a second. it would definitely be better to pull on the navy or off white for your blouse and to use the brighter colors for accessories. you're missing the color mark with pretty much everything you posted- it looks like you're trying to match colors to things that just aren't there.

you can use the rather obnoxious yellows, pinks, and greens out of the skirt without it looking like shit. don't be afraid of them. you're leaning pastel with everything when the skirt uses very bold, bright colors, and it looks really strange.

I've spent the last couple of months gathering main pieces and building up a wardrobe but I haven't had a chance to start coordinating until now. I've been researching and looking up how people are pairing these pieces but when I put something together it comes out so.. plain. I know it's because I'm not choosing the right pieces or colours but I'm scared of picking out something that just won't match. I'm wearing the same blouse, shoes and wig colour because I don't think something else would suit me.

I'm not looking for someone to make a whole coordinate for me - but I am looking for some sort of direction, if that's possible. I'm still new when it comes to this so I'd love some guidance and suggestions to change it up. Throwing in a mint, pink or brown beret, blouse and OTK will totally change the looks while still being cohesive. You have a super cohesive wardrobe and you can vary it by steering away from white blouse and legwear every so often.

These are adorable! And you know, plain is fine. I don't think there's anything wrong with it.

But if you want to dress it up more, maybe add a pop of color. I own the two pieces you have on the left. That colorway of chess chocolate goes well with pink, mint, darker brown. I've seen others coord it with red. It's ivory, so it lends itself to other colors well. Sometimes adding a pop of color can do wonders. If you wardrobe is mostly ivory, adding some colors in that realm can really help. You can also try adding additional hair accessories. Sometimes a plain headbow is great. Other times, you'll want to dress it up a bit. A beret or other style of hat is a good safe way to change things up. I like adding gold accessories. Sometimes I'll make pearl chains to clip into my hair and wear along with the headbow to spice things up a bit.

First of all- this is a BUSY and LOUD print, so let it do ALL the talking. The less the better. You want solid colors and stick to only TWO. Pink and light blue? Here are my suggestions.

The beret doesn't really go. While at first glance, it looks like it mirrors the corset lacing on the front of the bodice, the material makes it clash. The felt gives off a completely different vibe than the chiffon of the dress.

Instead, I would try to incorporate gold and black with accessories that have to do with stars. (Pic related is a bit of an OTT idea, but some simple ribbon elements on twintails or sun/moon/star clips are cool, too.)

The tights look alright, but make sure that the gold print on them matches the tone/how vibrant the golds in the dress print are or else your legs will stand out weirdly.

The shoes clash with the vibe of the dress in a similar way to the beret. The oxfords and felt beret say librarian, but your dress says fairy astronomer.

I would suggest shoes like pic related. Either the AP ones or from An-Tai-Na. I would prefer the gold glitter over the black glitter, but either would work.

Newbies tend to be really focused on matching colors which isn't a bad thing to keep in mind, but other things like texture and concept of the outfit in general also need to be taken into account. Don't be afraid to not match everything to main color of the dress.

Having owned Secret Shop and Angelic Pretty tea parties (bought directly from the brand and new), the Secret Shop shoes are practically identical. The main difference is the bottom sole of the shoe, and usually AP's bows will look a little bit nicer.

Ignore blouse anon I just got off some coord archives and yo this could be way worse but it's not nearly as bad as blouse-anon is making it sound.

You've got the right idea with the blouse, a peter pan collar works with the sweet square neckline, but this blouse is borderline too casual/kind of otome for such a sweet print. I would recommend an offwhite blouse with a smaller collar and light pink accents (ie buttons, jewels, ribbons, etc). This jsk looks great with short puff sleeves and sweet lace, so if you are determined to stay with long sleeves, maybe look into short sleeved blouses with removable sleeves, or putting a long sleeved bolero over top.

Purse is fine, matches the theme.

Some offwhite lace-topped otks or even utks would be really cute depending on how ye olden school you wanna go. You could also look into offwhite otks with pink ribbons or flowers going up the side, which in general are very easy styles to find for cheap, p sure Wunderwelt has some rn.

Shoe replicas are pretty passable and most people don't care honestly. There's only so many ways you can design simple shoes to match this style within the realm of reason, so I agree brown teaparties would be A+++.

Flower crown needs to either be left in 2015 or married to this coord in a different way that's more fitting (chiffon blouse, glitter heels, floral lace tights or ornately printed tights) if you want to bring up the elegance factor. Is it really possible to coord this dress in a gothic way? I love this print to death but classic just doesn’t suit me and all the coords I’ve seen for it are so samey and not too interesting to me.

I tend to wear very classic lolita things, and am having trouble coording my DDC tiered jsk.
I'm thinking of using the ivory/yellow colour as a base colour (I found a chiffon infanta blouse with princess sleeves in the correct color, an ivory/yellow btssb headbow/or 3F bonnet in the same color, and hoping Sugary Carnival otk's will be the correct color when they arrive). It's a sort of dark gold I think - it looks brown to gold depending on the lighting actually. This dress feels like it's in between so many shades, it's a nightmare to find something of the same exact color. But slightly darker shoes and bag (whether it be a dark gold or light brown) could work it out and make everything seem cohesive probably? Personally, that blouse is much too simple to work with a JSK like this - if you waint a fail safe coord, i'd pick a lolita specific white blouse, pink shoes (those cotton candy feet triple ribbon ones are cute!), and some white lace top OTKs or something. It's simple but would look cute.

any bell petti would suit this, just depends on your preferences. If i remember correctly, MLT has a guide on there site to help you find which petti would suit you best!

If your wardrobe is mostly dark colors/black, a black petticoat would be fine. If you have (or will have) some light colored pieces though, it's better to go with a white petti, since a dark petticoat might show through light fabric and that's not a good look.
It's generally best to get a petticoat that's about 5-8cm shorter than your skirt. Many lolita skirts (and skirt portions on JSKs/OPs) are around 50cm long, sometimes a bit shorter; and many standard length lolita petticoats are about 42-45cm long, so it's not too difficult to match pettis to main pieces unless said main pieces are of unusual length, i.e. shorter or longer than usual.
As for poofiness, it depends a lot on the style you're wearing and the cut of your main piece, as some pieces have more fabric than others and can accommodate bigger pettis, while more mature styles call for moderate poof even if the main piece has a lot of fabric.
It's kind of a lot to explain in words, honestly, I can try explaining a bit better if that was unclear but I hope it helps.

For the sake of playing it safe and acquiring basic pieces I can use for future coords, would you recommend staying in line with how Baby styled the JSK on their model? Only difference might be accessories and the pink CCF shoes instead of the red ones in their photo.

I’m having problems with coording this one piece, I feel too naked wearing it without a blouse or bolero, but it looks weird with most of the blouses or outerwear I try it with. Also, I can’t find a lot of pictures of it being coorded for inspiration.
If anyone has any pictures or sugestions to share I would feel very grateful, it’s too pretty to stay in my closet without being worn.

I own one. The quality is not bad, it looks like the pic, but the sleeves are like, massive. they don't grip my wrist at all and kinda just hang down. I wouldn't recommend it for that reason.

I just got my dd and want to wear it out for the weekend to celebrate st patty's day, as it's the only green dress I now own. Being the only green dress, I have no tights that really match it, save for solid black ones. I'm totally colour-matching impaired, would these kindaaa work? (They a bit fade when worn) Or should I stick to solid black tights?

Also have a stupid question: My AA ultra-violent bell petti sits really weird when I wear it with this dress, it's super frumpy-looking. Secret laboratory is light chiffon so I know it's a contributing factor to bumpy-ness but it's HORRIBLY clumpy looking - no amount of redistributing poof fixes this. The petti is new and on its own holds its shape really well, except while worn, what am I doing wrong?

I think the shoes are fine, not a huge fan of the nightgown, it make the whole coordinate feel crowded, if that makes sense. I'd replace it with a blouse. also some white, lace top socks would be nice, you could go for a shiro type look.Your neck is a bit bare as well, so a necklace would be nice.

Agreed, i would definitely ditch the peignoir. it never looks good with lolita. The longer length throws off the silhouette and makes it look dumpy. wear a bolero, or if you're keen to sew, turn your peignoirs into short bedjackets, they fit with lolita much better.

Get one of those taobao crop top blouses. Some of them are very plain and have almost no collar so it will sit nicely inside the dress while giving you sleeves.

Alternatively, get a cute bolero that also doesn't have a collar and wear it on top, with the collar of the dress on top of it.

Even though it's a long way away, I want to have Valak inspired coord for halloween. (Asking this shit now gives me time to buy shit)
I already have pic related as the main coord set.
For the make up, I was thinking of using some black matte lipstick, darker eyeshadow, and silvery highlighter with a more subdued blush color.
But there are a couple things I want input on.

Definitely no to the night gown. I might be biased though as I have never seen it look good in lolita. A blouse would be super cute, and maybe add a headdress instead of the bows? I think it would be cuter overall to have a headdress or a single alice bow instead of double bows. Also, maybe some white lace topped socks. never go with plain white tights unless it's cold and you need thermal ones. shit always looks boring as hell. Buy some lace top socks and/or peeking bloomers.
The headdress doesn't need to be black. go for a white one or one that matches the dress. The black shoes are fine, but only if you have darker hair so they match.
Lastly, when planning an outfit, make sure to include the rings, bracelets and necklaces you want to wear.

This isn't ita. A lot of the anons on those threads like to post non itas for the hell of it. However I think it's great that you're asking for concrit instead of being butthurt about it.

Most of the coord is fine but instead of solid tights you should get some printed ones or OTKs with pink and yellow. It will tie the whole look together. Some wristciffs won't hurt either.

The biggest problem is really your makeup and the facial expression in the photo. Your eyes are getting completely lost. Look up some lolita makeup tutorials that emphasize the eyes and how to make them bigger. Practice your face and posture in selfies and photos to see what looks best. Don't lift your chin up too much.
