There’s a few options you can consider anon.
You can go the route of using makeup to make it match, or if it’s possible you can use an ideal skin colored stocking under the outfit if it’s just cutouts you want to match.
If it’s for photography you can just edit that later.
it’s best to just match your skin color for in person events otherwise it will look weird but using a heavy foundation on the exposed parts to match is an ok route to take too depending on what and how big the area to cover is. Full body foundation is not Kawaii in real life but smaller patches in cut-outs can be unnoticeable.
If you want to get paler you can use kojic acid soaps and stay out of the sun/ sunscreen religiously but this will only take you to pale levels possible for your skin color, you can’t turn white from being black without actually using bleaching lotions and that’s not recommended since if you do that and go into the sun you’ll literally feel like your body is on fire and your skin will be so sensitive because it’s so thinned out, and once effects wear off you’ll be darker than before and uneven toned.

I feel like facial hair is the most annoying part of trying to cross play. I didn't have any until 20 but it's thick and black so it's like impossible to get rid of completely. The only ways I've been told is to wax, electrolysis, or razor + make up. Only electrolysis is "permanent". Chemicals didn't really work when I tried and my skin looked burned. Good luck.

That's because of the clothes tho.
Take a character like felix argyle, you see him as a girl because that's how you first saw him, if you see him wearing his knight's clothes or when he's wearing rags, you notice that his shoulders are broad, he maintains a masculine frame, he's just ultra-feminine.
This happens with other characters like Astolfo too.
Crossdressing is not just wearing girl clothes, is using those clothes to make your bodyline look as feminine as possible (making your shoulders and waist look narrower and your hips wider). This not only applies irl, but in anime too. I know that most artist just draw a girl and call it a dude, but some actually try.
Having said that, always keep in mind that a skirt is easier than a dress, and that with more clothes/accesories, it's kinda easier to look feminine. Also, don't use your natural hair, it can work, but you'll be much safer with a wig.
Also, makeup.
That's about it, just find a character that you like and give it a try.

Has anyone put out a good guide on female posture that isn't some crazy nutter 60 year old Hon shit?

I've purchased two guides on posture but haven't had time to watch them. I've also got a corset but it can only be used under a few costumes.

Just my opinion but the way I see it is that women tend to have a greater S shape to the spine as they counter the extra weight of their beasts and hips.

Going as a witch. Still a work in progress. I'm not sure about the bra or the corset underneath. I get upper back fat from the corset. Bra is a 38DD. I can't tell if I should go bigger or smaller for a more realistic form.

Also, yes, I know about the veiny arm. I'm going to wax and NOT drink 100 oz of water / work out the day of the party. So, there really isn't a need to talk about that. I got that one figured out.

Depends on the bra. If you have a full coverage bra, you may be able to stuff the hose more; if not, you may need something more like foam breast pads.

Corset wise - the brand doesn't really matter, it matters whether it fits you better upside down as even though it's sold as an MTF corset it's pictured on a female and looks like it may have more space in the hips than the ribs. You could also try lacing it in more of a "V" shape to avoid the back fat.

I'm testing two things right now to get a better shave.

1. moisturize the face daily between shaves. At the very least this is helping with redspots after the shave. Haven't had any since I started this.

2. I'm going to do the hot towel pre shave and I got a hot soap foam dispenser. I'm going to see if this helps any with getting a better shave.

I'm ahead of the curve on this considering my hobby is luxury wet shaving. And not the overpriced shit quality trash from The Art Of Shaving either. I've got so many preshave oils, shave soaps (akin to hot soap foam, especially when you have a scuttle), witch hazel based aftershaves, post shave balms, post post shave moisturizers, etc. Plus only using a single blade instead of the face lawn mowers Gelette advertises these days is a better way to avoid face irritation just has a steep learning curve. It was the only way I could actually get a clean shave in the first place. My hair just grows back too fast even if I shave close. Don't you have to use like darker makeups to really hide a poor shave?

what I do is apply a hot wet cloth to the area you plan to shave to open the pores up, then when you finish, apply a cold wet cloth to close those pores up. Having laser done though it alright as it reduces growth enough for you to notice the difference in your skin and the hair when it grows back. Make sure you have good blades too; do not overuse, you will notice the difference.

Covering it with makeup is an art in itself as you need to find the right products for you. I used to use TV production tier makeup as I have very dark hair but MAC SP15 liquid foundation is pretty good and I was putting off liquid foundation off for some time.

Is there a makeup tutorial you all would recommend? For a cutesy look. A lot of places I've gone to for hands-on assistance usually try to do a smoky or sexy western look which ended up looking terrible.

A lot of youtube videos end up throwing a bunch of different products and brands at me and I end up getting overwhelmed.

Well if you go for skirt and blazer or skirt and cardigan, the pleats in skirt don’t require any hip padding but you would need at least a bra if you want to look more feminine.
However at the same time you could also go off looking like a flat chest girl and go without bra but having a bra makes your waist look smaller so more curve to anything you wear helping that feminine look.

depending on your hair color and structure it can leave like a shadow on your skin and will stubble quite fast again.

I do not recommend using wax but sugaring. Sugaring is non chemical and will not stick to your skin, making it a little less painfull.
Ripping out your hairs however can be a bad idea if your prone to ingrown hairs. It can be horrible and long lasting.

So if its a one timer and you want to be safe and dont need 100% smooth skin just use a razor which still can lead to ingrown hairs, more over if you press too hard to get it as smooth as possible)

2 questions.

1, what is the best way to stay consistent in terms of makeup? Is it just constant practice? I'm practicing whenever I'm able to, but there are times where I think my makeup looks great and other times where I just absolutely hate it, but go "fuck it".

2, I had someone in an earlier thread suggest for face contouring that I look up how drag queens do their makeup, but every one that I've seen goes way too "drag" for a lack of a better term. Is there one that really doesn't go too over the top or is better suited for cross play? Also any makeup that anyone here would suggest for face contouring or can I get away with using my current eye shadow selections for highlighting and whatnot?

Random MUA here who's somehow stumbled across this thread, and yeah. People try and recommend lots of tips, and shortcuts, but in my experience, the only way you'll ever be able to improve your makeup is by practice.

Do you have a skincare routine? One thing I recommend a lot (and what worked for me when I was starting out) is every night, before washing my face for bed, practice loads of makeup techniques, in loads of different colours to see what suits you best, since you can immediately get rid of it afterwards without feeling bad.

As for contouring though, I basically hate every online contouring tutorial because literally like....... everyone's face is different. Yeah there are very general rules that often work, but never in the same way on everyone. You really have to get to know your own face to find how to contour best, or it can look, as you said, obvious and draggy.
If you wanted (no pressure) you could post a pic and I could give you some advice specific to you.

Also, in terms of product, nah you're good. Contour and highlight powder is just big eyeshadow, and though it's a little bit more convenient being in a big pan for a big brush, it's not necessary. You're fine just sticking with shadows

Aight. Top 2 are pictures are me. The bottom 2 are recent crossplays. One of them shows how I think I did pretty decent on eyeliner, eyeshadow, and makeup (left) while the other I just could not make it look good to save my life (right) basically showing my said inconsistency.

As for characters I'm wanting to do, I'm currently working on doing a Hilda crossplay (Under Night In-birth) with a plan on hopefully doing Bad Girl (No More Heroes) next.

Oh wow, first off, you have a really cute V-shaped face!! That and the big round eyes will give you a HUGE advantage with cosplay makeup.

I'm going to go over what I see, and I'm really apologetic if I come off as critical, I think you look great and I just want to help ya be even better :) And these are *just* suggestions, def don't change something you like just because I say something different.

First off, here's what I'd do for base makeup. You don't seem to have a 5'oclock shadow in the crossplay pics so I wouldn't bother with colour correcting, unless you notice that irl. Plus you have smooth skin so go easy on the foundation. But, you do have quite deep-set eyes (same dude.. i know the struggle) and you're not offsetting that enough with the makeup. Make sure your concealer is at least a shade and a half lighter than your actual skintone, and apply like this: (http://alishabarbara.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/concealer-tips-undereye.jpg)) under the eyes, and BLEND BLEND BLEND (if you want product recommendations for anything btw I can do that too, I just really like talking makeup :> ). Next, of course, always set with translucent powder.

Next, contour. Ok, so I wouldn't even TOUCH the sides of your nose with any contour powder. Your nose is fairly strong from the front and you don't want to accentuate that, so don't contour the sides of your nose at all. What you may like though, is to take a smaller powder brush, and VERY lightly dust some contour powder over the bridge of your nose, to slightly push it in from front-view. Your cheekbones are pronounced, so I also wouldn't contour there, as we're trying to make your face sort of softer, and more feminine. I would definitely work around your jawline though which is kind of sharp, and instead of putting contour under the jaw (like people normally do), would put it lightly, directly on the jawline, taking it up like an inch higher toward the ear as you move to the sides of your face (if that's unclear, lemme know and I'll draw a diagram). That technique will especially look nice in pictures, or if you have a face-framing wig. Also, make sure the colour is not warm toned whatsoever; you're fairly pale and it'll look mostly like dirt on your face (I'm thinking a colour somewhat like Warm Taupe from the Modern Renaissance eyeshadow palette, if you know that one).
Next is blush! Blush is just cute so have fun with it. Where you put the brush down after picking up product will be where it's strongest, so plop that right on the apples of your cheeks, and blend up towards your cheekbones. Blending it directly *on* your cheekbones like people often do day-to-day will just angle your face more- not ideal.
Highlighter is optional but usually a fun choice :) Just make sure it's blended and subtle and it'll usually look great in cosplay!

Ok, now eyes. I really really like your eyebrows, and honestly wouldn't change anything (except maybe practicing to make sure they're both even). But the shape is really soft and cute!
In the second crossplay pic, are you wearing eyeshadow? if so, it looks nice as well!
I'm going to be totally honest though, I'm not a huge fan of your eyeliner. In the second one, it's sort of a bit too subtle for cosplay makeup and doesn't do much for you, and in the first one, it's a bit messy and unflattering. Biggest thing to remember, is that you have round eyes. When your eyeliner wing points down like that, it makes your whole eye droop down.

^ See how in this one, she makes the wing go up before the end of her eye? That way she brings her whole eye upwards instead of down (though the bottom eyelash thing isn't super necessary for you, and takes A LOT of skill to get right).
Also, make sure to always wear false lashes!! Cosplay is all about the extremes, and I can't think of a single female cosplay where I wouldn't wear false lashes. Mascara can't even come close to the effect, especially in pictures.
Going back to eyeshadow for a second, just also want to say that’s basically must as well. Even if the character doesn’t wear eyeshadow, just running a tiny bit of whatever contour or bronzer you use on your face in the crease and outer v, even if people can’t tell you’re wearing eyeshadow, makes all the difference

I think the only thing that I have left to say is lips, but that’s very much a case to case basis. Lipstick is also kind of a necessity though, even if just a nude. I also think that overlining just a *tad* would be really really flattering on you (there are tons of tutorials online to make it look natural, just make sure you practice). A little highlighter on the centre of the lips (cupid's bow wouldn't suit you) is always a nice touch as well.

For those two characters though, the makeup looks pretty standard, other than Hilda’s 2 different coloured irises and lilac lips. And for Bad Girl, you should definitely go heavy on peach coloured blush and highlighter on the cheeks and nose, and use lip gloss. For Hilda I’d use lashes like this (https://dy6g3i6a1660s.cloudfront.net/yFxX5XnrhKgNh4bU1WKMLwR-BH4/zb_p.jpg , heavy on the outside) and for Bad Girl like this (https://www.uniqso.com/collections/makeup-accessories/products/stella-eyelashes-pointed-5117 fluttery and sectioned and round), that alone would differentiate the makeup looks a lot

On your comment for colour correcting I actually get a pronounced 5oc shadow, but I use an NYX orange lip gloss/stick in addition to a concealer to remove that blue hue. It's probably not the best method, but it's the one that's been the easiest for me. I'll look more into actual color correcting though. I would also LOVE product recommendations since what I use are a combination of mom/sister hand me downs, friend/YT recs, and ipsy monthly bags that's basically like makeup lootbox.

I recently started to trim my eyebrows since someone suggested that would help me quite a bit. Before they were definitely thicker.

I was actually using eyeshadow in the 2nd pic and the eyeliner set I use (Dollywink Smokey Brown) has a bit of a schematic on how to apply it properly so for every crossplay I've been basically doing that.

I absolutely appreciate your criticism and videos for my eyeliner. I'll definitely give them a watch.

I actually do wear false lashes, but they never seem to show up in pictures. Maybe I'm not applying them correctly?

I got an electric carver (the kind used for chickens) and that is definitely the way to go with making your own hip/ass pads.

Thoughts so far. If you are going with 3 inch foam to get bigger hips, Go longer than you think you need. In my opinion, I need to go another 4 inches on the top part of the hip. And I need to put on the corset first, then 1 layer of hose, then the hip pads, then two more layers of hose. Hose should go up to the natural waist.

I have no idea what I'm going to do about the butt. Even with a bit of butt on the sides, I'm not seeing any gains on the butt. I think I need to add 2 inches to the diameter of the butt.

I'm still getting a little back fat with the corset at the top but positioning the bra strap just right smooths a lot of it out.

Other stuff, my natural hip is 23 inches in dia. This is using 3 inch thick foam and gives me 27 dia hips.

Any feedback would be appreciated. I'll keep trying stuff in the hopes of coming up with a formula that works for others.

Feedback I already know is that the pics are blurry, I need better lighting, and I need to wax before going out in public. My main focus was to just try the pad in pants. I'll dig out my real people camera and tripod for future tests.

Main focus should be wait and hips, to get them to the point where they're in proportion with your shoulders. The hardest part about crossplay/crossdressing, outside of getting your face looking feminine enough, is to get it so that your figure looks "in proportion" for a girls, and the biggest obstacle for that is the shoulders. And the best way to do that is to make the hips look bigger. I guess an example would be the Marisa cosplay I posted where I used a hoop crinoline to hide my hips, and poofy sleeves to hide my shoulders. Though often even a big enough jacket can be enough to make you somewhat passable if your face isn't completely hopeless.

I actually got a genuine used Japanese winter sailor fuku top on Ebay from a seller in Osaka for a reasonable price. Really well made, as it's an actual school uniform, with lining and stuff the costume versions omit (they are very expensive new). Have to do a few mods for size, but it will work and the sailor top is the hard part to get.

Add a navy pleated skirt from a domestic school uniform supplier like French Toast (western girls get big, so waist sizes in excess of 30 inches are no problem, along with length) and this makes for a real schoolgirl uniform you won't get from either a tiny stock Japanese one or a cosplay one you can tell from the pics is never quite the same as the real ones.

Hey guys! Browsed through this board a bit, and I think it's mostly guys crossplaying as girls? I'm kind of hoping for some advice though the other way round. I'm a girl who used to crossplay when I was a younger teen because I could pull off the young lanky guy look, and really had fun doing it. Chest binder and padding. You want to make your body look more blocky and square. One thing most FtM crossplayers do is forget to add extra padding and account for their hips, so they end up looking dumpy and pear-shaped. You also might want to look into male contouring, which is another thing most people get wrong. And mannerisms/vocal patterns are also important to practice. My recommendation would be to try and sing along with more male songs (think Johnny Cash) and copy the speech patterns and tone. It wont be perfect but it'd at least be a decent start.

Halfway correct. What makes Oatmeal good is how filling it is keeping you from eating more. The no sugar is good, but people tend to add milk and sugar to make it edible anyway (plain old oatmeal will make you not wanna eat it more than once, and you shouldn't have to "force" a diet because you won't stick with it if you don't enjoy it).

Sugar is a big enemy, but everything is fine in moderation. Oatmeal helps you moderate better by making you full longer. Brown rice has the same effect (switch your rice to brown, by the way). Fat isn't an enemy though, and in fact America is a perfect example of why fat is required in a healthy diet - after the "low fat" grocery fad popped up and health sources started giving it a bad rap, we saw an INCREASE in obesity due to everyone thinking "If I cut far from my diet, I will be less fat!" And then proceeding to buy foods that have "low fat" but compensate with the bland ass flavor by adding loads of sugars. Whomever named it "fat" did an extreme disservice to future generations - it should have been named "lipids" so that it doesn't have the canotation to the layman of "this will make me fat!" (Our digestive system is way more complicated than this, and you NEED lipids as a dietary requirements).

The bottom line is you need to BALANCE your diet. Everyone who says "eliminate this and that and this" will lead you down the road every fatty faces; you'll be miserable with what you eat and still be fat. Your fridge will be filled with products they guests will not want to fucking touch when they come over, you'll be over-eating to compensate for your body's natural cravings for essential nutrients that you're denying it, and you'll be thinking "well maybe I need to work out more" and inevitably that will fail too because the fight against obiesity is fought and won on the dinner table. Find balance, eat what you enjoy in moderation, take calories into account but don't obsess. Get more greens and fiber. Enjoy food.

On that regard, I think it would also help your look if you drop the middle parted bangs look and once you shortened your bangs to an appropriate length, let them flow smoothly from one corner of your forehead to the opposite site. I have seen lots of people doing the middle parting to avoid cutting bangs and it looks very lazy and frumpy, if you don't style your hair accordingly to suit the look.

I would say it's not too hard to look masculine but it takes effort. I would say thick eyebrows closer to your eyes go a long way. Look up male and female eyebrows and you will see what I mean, it's a big difference solved by makeup. You can also try contouring to make your jaw and cheekbones more pronounced but beard should help with that if it's a good looking fake beard and doesn't look fake. Hairstyle too goes a long way, anything with bangs will make you look younger. Eyes are also an issue, try to call less attention to them and make them more deep-set. There are some tutorials online that may help but most are related to bishie makeup. Maybe makeup videos for trans guys might help?

Makeup is not hard, it's a skill. You have to put the time and practice into it, just like anything else. There's no other way around it.

Start off with cheap makeup to practice before moving onto Sephora products or whatever. More expensive product is worth it but not necessary for crossplay.

You'll make mistakes like everyone else when starting out. If you don't have female friends to help out, then post here or in makeup threads for concrit. I'm able to do my own makeup a lot better now because I have a lot of IRL friends that give me feedback, and because I've put the time in to practice and get better.

Was fully prepared to get some breast forms to start getting a base crossplay wardrobe together, and because there seems to only be one supplier of decent non generic forms available without importing in the UK (Softleaves) I was gonna get their size 9 (38DD) asymmetrical forms at ~£65 in their clearance selection on ebay. Pretty decent if you ask me.
Then today I go to collect things into the basket to go get them in the next couple days, and the price have shot up to nearly £100. I could justify ~£65, but not £100. Now because getting other things like gaffs and bras was entirely tied to getting those forms, I'm stuck not knowing what to do because not enough cash. Unless they wildly fluxuate down again in the next few days or something.

Blazer is just a blazer in a boxy cut. You could try asking in the nanchatte thread here on cgl where you could find a blazer in your preferred colorway.

Shoes are just ordinary pumps. If you can find a similar pair in black/white, you just have to add a white bow shoeclip and attach it to the front.

Alright.. Please no bulli this is my first try at make up. Haven't worked on wig at all either. I probably shouldn't have used dark eyeshadow; my eyes are more recessed than I thought. I want to use a bit more blush and work on contouring the sides of my face. Eye liner is hard! This was quick and my first time trying though!

As far as makeup goes, for a first try this isn't bad, the manface probably can't be helped completely.
Definitely cut the bangs on your wig, just pushing them all to the side frames your face in a disadvantagous way.
I'd color in the eyebrows to match the wig as well, although yours are pretty clean already, that makes them a little sharper defined.

Nose isn't that bad. The brow and cheeks are the most mannish parts of your face. Maybe try blush and contouring to make them look less thin. Gaining weight can help if you are underweight but it's difficult to recover cheek far as male (without means that shall not be mentioned here)! Brow unfortunately can't be fixed unless you are crazy enough for surgery but plucking your eyebrows to be higher will call less attention to it. You do look like a dude but may be able to reach andro territory if you try. Also get fake lashes like other anons said. You have big eyes and should emphasize them for the anime look. However eyebrows and cheeks are top priority if you want to not look like a dude.

You got that right about the "S" shape. The main difference between posture is the shoulders, chest, butt, and crotch. If you want to look more masc, push your crotch forward and also roll your shoulders in more and push you chest back. For guys it's more comfortable to walk with their package in the front and not push their chest out. Obviously don't eggagerate it or you will look like a wannabe gangsta boi. For female posture do the opposite. Again shoulders slightly back, chest forward, and ass and crotch back to put your spine in an "S". Don't walk with your dick in front and try to call less attention to your upper body without looking like a drag queen.

Got some breast forms in the other day, and they're, interesting. Despite the meme of "If I had boobs I'd just want to play around with them all day", I honestly feel complete indifference.
Regardless, I'm really liking how all of this padding and formers are coming together. There's a couple nagging issues, the butt padding is squeezing the hip pads in a unflattering way and there's nothing I can do about back fat at the moment, once I get a proper full body faja I think everything will finally be together to properly crossplay.
To the point of the post, I bought these forms (Onefeng kvs9 for reference), 840g as a pair (they honestly don't feel that heavy), which was listed at a size of "42C", which considering I was shooting for 38DD thought would be right on the money. I get them in, and they honestly seemed kinda small depth wise. The 7cm depth that's listed is a bit of a misnomer, the mould is probably 7cm deep, but because there's a really deep back the actual depth of the silicone is probably closer to 3 or 4.
Then I put them on, and they're the exact kind of volume and shape I was going for! (Some overhang would of been nice, though there's no real getting that with this form style, or possibly with this cup size. And there's an annoying lip of sorts around the edge of the actual silicone, which I'm hoping will get resolved whenever I get a thicker bra), but despite the intended "38DD", looking down with them on they look more like somewhere between Cs or Ds on the chart in the following post, and the implied size is readily apparent in the photos. Then I measure their size with them on, ~33-34in underbust as expected, 41in bust. Which is apparently a 38G!

Tl:dr, With the size difference between what I'm measuring and what it looks like, and given that my measurements may be thrown off given the unresolved back fat problem, should I size bras for what they should be / seem like they should be (38DD) or just go with what the measurements are telling me (38G)? And is there anything else to be said given the pictures here?
Also, are there any recommended double sided tapes for these kind of silicone forms? The tape that I got (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07DQS5LL4)) I misread as being for silicon forms, but is actually their normal stuff that's not recommended for them. Despite that I tried them on with that tape anyway and found that it comes off ok as long as you don't press the tape hard into them. (Kinda nerve wracking for the one strip that was stuck down like that). I don't like the idea of the forms just being held in place without anything keeping them on the body. I'll try the actual stuff by the same manufacturer intended for forms from them at some point in the immediate.

Thank you for the compliment, And oh boy, height. Here we go. So I'm 6'3", my family is absolutely cursed to be tall forever. Because of this, doing this sort of thing can be a pain in the ass. When it comes to the clothing itself, I typically work with a friend on it, like discuss details and junk, then get it custom made. I can't really speak for every store, but lolitawardrobe usually has all the things I'd need for finishing touches. I do know they have a number of outfits that can be made custom to your size, but it can be tough. If you have a discord, I could look into it and try to help you out.
