It wasn't 'gross daddy/lg' meme stuff as it was about lifestyle submission to a man to cater to his needs. Google 'humbled females,' it's downright disturbing. They treat it like a cult religion, which probably went well with her religious tendencies.

>> No.10070166

She wasn’t into ddlg, which I really need cgl to realize is a pretty new term that no one was using until 2015 at the soonest. Pui_Puni was deeply religious and traditional and she was a member of several submissive women libehournal communities that also tied in with D/s fetish, specifically the humbled females community. I can’t seem to find her on Facebook, but I know she was a classical singer. She’s likely just a normie religious housewife and mom now.

>wondering if she was really all that bad

i mean most of her activity on LJ was on getoffegl, and many of the people she'd throw shots at were underage. i like snark communities as much as the next person but she was an older girl who spent most of her LJ time and effort initiating gossip about and shaming younger girls. even looking at it from several steps back she was just nasty, even if she never told anybody to kill themselves or whatever online bullies these days tend to say

Honestly 80% of the popular people we found gorgeous and awesome 6-10 years ago, would all be considered ugly now.

I'm tired of the emphasis on absolute perfection. Please post your cute photos anon. Personally I think the "perfect" images we see are the ugly ones, things that aren't edited/facetuned/filtered to hell and back are so much nicer imo.

The real reason you don't see posts like this is because people who post to facebook want "likes", and the facebook feed itself sucks -- if the post doesn't get enough likes then the post gets buried. So you won't be shown this post even if someone did post it, and the people posting will also feel discouraged as no one sees it, and then they stop posting altogether.

It has nothing to do with CoF's purpose, only that FB's algorithm turns everything into a stupid popularity contest and will show you stuff based on what other people in your friendslist like. So if you like very obscure stuff that isn't similar to what your FB friends like, you're forever stuck with seeing all their shitty taste instead of things you actually want to see. Welcome to shitty facebook, which also asks some users to prove their real names, so they're stuck with one account and no way to create a second account so that they can curate their own feed with things they actually want to see and instead are spammed with everything else on their friendslist in one giant mess bucket.

I genuinely miss people posting on livejournal so that we don't have to deal with this shit.

...sure it is. I'm getting so sick of people using "I have a chronic illness" to explain being skelly. 90% of the time it's a fake excuse. With most chronic illnesses, especially things common in the community like fibromyalgia, you're way more likely to be fat than skinny. If the person claiming to be skinny due to chonic illness doesn't have something understandable like cancer, gut issues, or metabolic problems, they're probably lying and covering for an ED. What makes talking about EDs in our community so much harder than lying about chronic illness? I don't fucking understand. I know it sucks to admit our community has a weird relationship with weight. We'd like everyone to look like Mintkismet or Spiro but don't want to face up to the fact that the vast majority of people have to put in a lot of effort and take on unhealthy habits to get there. To naturally be that size is vanishingly rare. Let's stop fucking lying about it, and for fuck's sake, stop using chronic illness (real or faked) as a smokescreen to hide what's actually going on.

Instead of saying “ oh my meds affect me” I just say “ I have a condition.” Usually that translates to “ chronic illness” but really it’s just easier to say that then explain that I have medications that cause me to not be hungry all the time. So yes, sometimes when someone says they have a condition or Illness that causes their weight, don’t assume it’s ED. Some people don’t want to talk about it.

>> No.10071341

I think it’s unfair to accuse people without proof that they definitively don’t have a chronic illness, but that being said, anything goes. I don’t particularly mind if they say that, because the effects of chronic illness are highly variable and can be hard to explain to a layperson.

That being said nothing makes me roll my eyes harder than #spoonielife and people taking selfies of themselves in bed with their hair and makeup all done up. I want to support the movement in general but just like all other “millennial” (using term loosely and I am one) movements, it seems to be a lot about entitlement and self indulgence as much as it is about legitimate concerns about people working past obstacles no one else can see. But pretty much none of this applies to the person in question so I’ll just leave it at that.

The friend called herself Mistress M or just 'M' (later muier_noir). If I remember rightly, she was married to a U.S. military serviceman who was based in Japan.

Oh man, on the whole 'living the dream' thing, I was actually living in Japan around this time for a year as an exchange student. I wasn't on Honshu island however and lived in a tiny countryside town. I became aware of lolita fashion, jrock and visual bands around halfway through my stay, but whenever I cautiously brought up the subject with say, classmates I was often shut down with comments about them being freaks, not to get involved etc - the high school need to conform was real.

I once spotted gothic lolitas in the largest city on the island and was in awe. I often wonder what it would have been like to have been a part of the the lolita scene back then, even in a small way. As sad as it is, I still occasionally daydream and feel wistful about what could have been.

As it turned out, I didn't wear my first lolita outfit until early 2004 and it was yup - a bodyline lace monster.

Yeah, I think us old farts tend to remember Lauran because she really helped to pave the road for all future lolitas to be more confident about wearing lolita in public and have more fun with it. Up until then, the community was just a bunch of people taking pictures in their bedrooms, backyards, and the occasional anime convention. Nobody was really out there living the dream except Lauran. Then Muier_Noir moved there and joined her and the community lost their god damned minds (in a good way). There were a lot of pair lolitas after that who followed in their footsteps, like psychodollfie and graveflower.

Does anyone remember any Lolita youtubers from 2009-2010?

I didn't know what Livejournal was so I was pretty late to all that, and the only Lolitas I knew of were a handful of girls on youtube. I've forgotten all but a couple of them, and I've always wondered about one girl in particular.

She was English with long brown hair. I don't remember her channel name. I think her real name was Emily but I can't tell if I'm remembering that correctly or not. Most of her videos were slideshows of her coords/meetup pics with Kanon Wakeshima music playing in the background. She had a short series going over the process of handmaking a blue x white skirt or JSK and I think the first video she ever talked in was one where she was talking about making group orders with her comm to reduce shipping costs. I also remember most of her wardrobe being black x white. I think her channel may have had maybe 300 to 1,000 subscribers when I first found it, but I don't remember that for sure either.

Does anyone remember or know someone that matches this sort of description? Since I didn't know about LJ she was one of the first and only people I saw actually wearing Lolita at that time, and I looked up to her a lot. She was even the first person to give me any sort of advice for starting out, which I took into consideration when finally getting my first pieces years later. I haven't been able to find her channel since then, though, and I don't think it exists anymore. I'd be really happy if someone else remembers her.

Afaik MF started getting bizarre negative attention when she got popular (i.e. stalkers, suicidal people sending her messages? etc.) and she decided drop off social media, and eventually dropped lolita too, presumably because it didn't make her happy anymore. NAYRT but I think this may be what they meant?

>The French literary style called préciosité arose in the 17th century from the lively conversations and playful word games of les précieuses, the witty and educated intellectual women who frequented the salon of Catherine de Vivonne, marquise de Rambouillet; her Chambre bleue offered a Parisian refuge from the dangerous political factionalism and coarse manners of the royal court during the minority of Louis XIV.

in that forum there was the idea (I suppose that to a great extent by Candy) that the Lolita was not just clothes, but a group of thinkers and dreamers, very much like Novala. It was a group that sought to enhance the arts, especially the artistic manifestations of its members. In addition, the lifestyle was very much encouraged.
The closest thing I could catch of this idea is this entry in Candy's old lj, it's in Spanish but usually google translates it well.

There’s a dressmaker I follow selling a lolita version of a chemise de reine on Etsy right now. I wonder how it compares?

This looks really crooked... That neckline is much too deep for lolita.

>no ruffle at the hem
>massively revealing neckline

>this styling
Oof, pass.

If it was a selfpost wouldn’t there be some semblance of a way to point to the account...
Gulls really don’t know how to use logic at all, it’s super lame.

Yeah, I like her aesthetic when she does more 70s and historical stuff but I think she’d be better off doing her own thing and not identifying with lolita.

So, this is really weird and out there... When I first got into the fashion like around 2009 or so, I was scared of egl livejournal because I was used to forums but it didn't feel anon enough. I was part of a fairly quiet lolita forum. I think it was a euro forum? I remember there being a very beautiful girl with extremely long straight hair, an older girl (maybe a mod) who was very into Django Reinhardt and gypsy guitar, and a girl whose DD was pic related. It was a very friendly and small forum, and they were very kind to me as a useless noob who just wanted to understand. I know it's not much, but does anyone know what that forum might have been?

I think the dress in real life had frayed hems and other imperfections, basically her stock photos were heavily edited

HOLY SHIT. What happened to her? She looks great now but wow she looks completely different

She looks exactly the same, just 5 years older, and she hasn’t aged poorly or anything...
Maybe the wig and face angle are throwing you off.

Oh, no, I mean that she's aged really really well. Like "she looks like a whole different young and beautiful person" level of well

The ruffles look cheap. Needs nice lace or smaller ruffles that don't reveal what shitty material it is

I disagree. I watched a talk/panel she lead about feminine power and the fashion and found her very mature and thoughtful. she seems pretty even keeled and pure.

>I do wish someone would help her with her natural hair though

She was living in an area where she was the only lolita and people was really mean to her, so she quit. Also, some anxiety-related problems didn't make her any good. She was nice.

Do you know if she’s active on social media? Does she have an active youtube account or something? I really liked her old youtube channel and am so sad she stopped uploading videos.
