Why do people go to con parties/raves?

My best experience was going to the Kumoricon rave/dance last year. It was so much fun, I danced from start to finish. I went cause I was excited to see Teddyloid but I actually ended up hating his set the MOST out of everyone that played. The other DJs(I can't remember their names) played oldschool happy hardcore and chiptune and I danced so fucking hard I thought I was gonna pass out. I ended up being one of the last people on the dancefloor when the sets finished and I gave the DJs a huge thumbs up cause I love happy hardcore, it basically reminds me of everything early 2000s and I can sink back into my comfy nostalgia. I went home drenched in sweat and I couldn't walk right for the next week but it was worth it. Sorry if I flung sweat on you, I was having fun.

Most of the time if the dance floor is crowded I try to stick to one spot and just enjy myself, there's no real dance moves that you have to conform to when you're at a rave. I find it's a lot easier to just have fun and do what feels natural, I think the autism helps cause I don't really care about what others around me think. I find that when people see me looking stupid but having fun it helps them loosen up so everyone has a good time. When the floor clears up near the end of the night and people go him I like to play around with something called "jumpstyle" It's a really goofy looking european dance where you quite literally jump around and I think it's a lot of fun to do if you're feeling the music. Honestly if you're a self conscious person or care what others think of you while at a rave you probably won't have a very good time. Just realize everyone around you is just as much of a lame weeb as you are and go for it.

I don’t care about what other people think of me at all and never have, but man I just don’t “know” how to dance. I know what jumpstyle is, I was in a dance cover group in college for 5 years, but when it comes to raves and dance clubs I am just clueless. Pumping my arm just isn’t fun, and with that kind of music especially idk what to do that isn’t a 5 second well known kpop move.

I went to a cosplay ball, because my friend was a photographer and just invited me there. I arrived alone (as always) and spent some time with him, until he had to go and take pictures of the cosplayers on this event. I talked so some cute chick in a uniform, we spent one hour or so together, than she disappeared. Stood around playing Hearthstone for the rest of the evening. Since most chicks prefer to go with a female friend than ask a guy. Weird world.

Some year later my fuckbuddy wanted to go on a cosplay party after a convention. Since i would get my dick wet that night anyway, i decided to go with her, despite knowing that i HATE disco's. But hey - she needed someone to go with her (She's a 20 year old lolita, smol, and looks like she's 16. With C cups though...) and so i went with her. It was KPOP all the time. I wanted to die. The music was absolute trash and it was too loud to talk to anyone. Absolute waste of time - even the alcohol didn't help enough. But i made sure she could have some fun and returned safely to our hotel - so it was kinda worth it.

I love the raves. Probably shouldn't admit this but I've been having sex with guys I meet at them since I was 16 and for me that's the main reason I go.

Dude thank you for this cause me too. I have a friend who is a DJ for our local anime convention and I asked him to play more oldschool stuff and happy hardcore stuff and he got really pissed and said no one wants to hear that anymore so he only plays like dubstep and riddim and I'm just like so sad and disgusted cause he used to be into the oldschool con rave stuff.

I'm an awkward corner potato, but this year I want to make kandi to give away at the rave and wear a love live trash glowy outfit.

Masquerades at Sakuracon is predictable but a good way to enjoy a con masquersde. It is the same songs every year but it works since they also have a session for teaching newcomers

Worst ones are the ones with too much kpop at at a con. Chances are they will play the music too loud.

I havent experienced going to a con party but i am excited to experience my first con party at Colossalcon this year, are their parties any good?

Someone offered their small basement venue for me to play a happy hardcore/breakcore show and I'm really tempted but I don't think that there's really a crowd for it anymore desu, I don't even know where I would advertise something like that but I wanna play oldschool bangers and see weird fat weebs enjoy themselves.

Neon District at AX 2017 was pretty cool. Definitely my favorite event.

He probably has PTSD from the pre-2012'ish era. Anime Con Raves (at least in Canada) were infected with Happy Hardcore DJs that had only seen DBZ and Pokemon and think they understand Anime. It took years to get this change to at least JCore or other Anime/Japanese culture themed EDM

I tried going to a rave for the first time last year. It's stupid but i admit i expected something more like that one episode of Samurai Jack. I walked out dissapointed and frustrated at my inability to have fun.
btw is it normal for a Dj to play forty seconds of a song before switching to a different song with a completely different tempo? And then switching it again not even a minute later? Cause that super threw me off.

Normie clothes or casual jfashion, it can get crowded and I wouldn't trust people to not accidentally damage a cosplay while flailing around. Also, your clothes might end up kinda sweaty.
But might be different if you end up just hanging around the fringes where there's less people, or the event is super dead and no one is there anyway.

Best Rave: Can’t really say. They all kind of blend together after a while.

Best party: Sakuracon 2017 most people started making out with each other. (No fucking, before you ask. I think con orgies are a myth) I kissed a person that was cosplaying the same character.

Worst party: some couple got into an argument in front of everyone. My God, it was awkward.

Literally every con rave I've ever been to. Ohayocon really goes all out for it. I'll be in there for ~6 hours over the weekend. Straight up magic.

This past Colossialcon, at a room party, I was apparently throwing fake $100 bills off a balcony at 4 a.m., causing a massive panic below. From midnight to 4:30 a.m., I burned almost 3,000 calories.

Made out with a relatively hott Harley Quinn while dressed as the Joker which was pretty chill.

I'd argue that the time I came-to & was in a room with a crying stranger & a puking dude who were fighting was terrible - but 2 years later, I ended up having the time of my life with them both at Matsuricon.

I always dance in-cosplay/as my crossdressing alter ego. Shit is amazing.

I've never been to a rave, because I hate electronic music

I've wanted to go to the Youmacon rave for years, but the stench of body odor keeps me from getting near the door. Looks fun though.

Just your standard formal with mask will work just fine. And there are usually staff and volunteers serving as a dance partner for those too anxious or have trouble finding a partner.

And it is never too old to partake in the masquerade, seen families and older couples attend along with the young ones.

i think the best experience i had was getting a cold one day in to fanime con 2010? and going to the rave that same night. I fucking danced my ass off and kept taking breaks to drink water and go back in. i spent the rest of the con not sick anymore cause i sweat that bitch out with a quickness. and i left at 4 am. i think i did this in a different year as well but yeah.

2019, i cant do raves anymore, getting older i dont like doing raves without friends real raves or con raves.

Hell that is what professional party guest are supposed to do anyway. To either defuse the time bombs at a party by keeping them distracted or to help the shy ones out of their shell.
