I desperately want to get back into lolita. The comm I was with was lovely, the clothes are much more comfortable, and I can’t keep myself from buying cutesy shit or staring at the dresses in the back of my closet every time I get dressed. But now I live in a town in the middle of nowhere, and I feel like I’m getting way too old to dress in cutesy stuff anymore. I know 22 isn’t ancient but it’s old enough to feel even more out of place than usual, and I’m scared it’ll make my gf feel weird about our relationship. On top of all of this, my face has always been better suited for gothic than sweet, and since high school my face has grown more sharp, but I’ve got zero desire to dress in any lolita style but sweet.

Obviously circumstances differ but age and location don't really matter, it's how you feel that matters. I'd suggest you at least wear your frills indoors as a start. Deliciously free of family obligations, I’m enjoying a quiet and stress free holiday with my SO and our pets. We decided to skip gifts, stick extra money in the vacation account instead for travel in 2019 and just have a nice meal together at home and relax.

I don't really let it affect me too much. No one's going to look like an anime girl, so whether the character I'm cosplaying is 15 or 30, it doesn't matter too much. Although I am short and have very cutesy facial features (big eyes, round cheeks, etc) so it probably helps for that kind of thing rather than if I had very sharp or pointed features.
