Most of the time. I generally just colour correct and smooth out any lumps. I wouldn't say it's anything too drastic since I still want it to look like me.

Rather, the "fakeness" of my pictures come from the fact that they're heavily staged. Like I'm wearing a bunch of makeup products despite it being a natural look. I take hundreds of pictures, trying to get the angle right, the light right, the background right. The public sees a single picture that looks effortless, but it's all a show lol.

Yeah, this is pretty much the same for me. It's not that I'm photoshopping my pics, but with the lighting, the pose, the makeup and specific styling, the fact that I'll take a zillion pics to get one perfect one- that's obviously not going to reflect how I look most of the time, and I'll probably look pretty different on the floor of a con (though not unrecognisable)

>> No.10057239

Exactly, and I'll also put in a extra effort into my makeup, wig styling etc when I'm taking a pic vs when I'm going to a con, as I know that a lot of the work will be undone over the day anyways/wouldn't be close up. A lot of the "shop vs no shop" collages of cosplayers probably do have some shop, but I'd say that the great angles, lighting, pose, expression etc. Is what makes instagram photos look so much better than hall shots, where you can't control angle, lighting, and a person is most likely only going to take one shot of you.

ok, i won’t lie. i photoshop the fuck out of my pictures. it all started when i was in high school and i admired dakota rose and her “look.” i took to the early versions of beautycam or meitu, can’t remember, and i would just try to make myself look how i wish i looked. since then i couldn’t stop. i hate my face, i have a stupid shaped nose that’s not straight and my face shape is really weird. i just fix it all in beautycam now. i have really toned it down since my dakota rose skinwalking days but it’s still something that i have to do if i’m ever to post a picture of myself. i have gotten pretty good at it and i can do it in a way that looks natural and not uncanny. i have met with lots of internet friends in person who only saw my photoshopped pictures and they say i look the same. they never act weird upon meeting me or think that i’m unrecognizable. i’ve even straight up asked them if i look like my photos and they say i do. but if one would see how i looked before editing a selfie and after, they’d be shocked at the differences. the photoshopping has harmed my view on myself a lot and it’s really unhealthy to do but i can’t stop.

>> No.10057373

Anon, different types of cameras also skew the proportions, so don't forget that. A selfie cam is going to be far less generous on your facial features than a high quality camera photo.

honestly anon don’t worry about it. i edit the shit out of my photos, taking like 30 min to an hour for each photo for face edits, and no one has ever said i look different, even those who i’d trust to be harsh. i’m asia based as well and people will talk mad shit about you if you shoop too much, and multiple people who have met me (since i’m a popular cosplayer who gets invited to some cons) have told me that they’re so happy i look “just like my photos” because “some cosplayers photoshop till they look completely different”. you notice your flaws way more than anyone else would.

Get rid of dark eye circles, any blemishes, and soften nasolabial folds if they're harsh. I fix pic lighting too. Selfie cams make my nose look big and potatoey when it's pretty average irl but I don't know how to convincingly edit it into its normal shape. That's far from truth. Plastic Surgery (for aesthetic reasons) is hella expensive here, unless it's something related to your health (like nostril surgeries). So it's not a popular thing, as some may think. Rich girls, though, often have nose and ear corrections (boobs implants too, but it's not something really common anymore), but since most cosplayers / lolitas are far from rich here, it's pretty rare to find someone with plastic surgery.

This girl, though, is known for using a bunch of photoshop to alter her body (you can find more info about her on Brazilian Lowcow) . Her face is like that on real life, though, just less cartooney.

Actual 70cm waist 117cm ass here.
Yes that's photoshop on that image, she has too much chub on the rest of her body to make me believe it (you can see it on her arms, especially the one in front). She's also having tons of plastic surgery, so even if she wouldn't use photoshop it's still fake as fuck. Altrough with all the surgery, the photoshop might be more touching up, and else it's more proffesionally altered like the more spending e-fame whores do (the kind that also rent a private yet to act rich for photo's. A photoshop guy is cheaper).

Even when "natural" curves like that exists, they are generally caused by abnormal things like medical issues and other genetic or medical "abnormalities" instead of the biological norm. Like for me, I literally can't hold fat due to medical issues. Went on birth control young because of other medical isseus with my periods, which made me hold fat on 2 places (hip/ass and breast) while still not being able to do so on other places. It looks nice, but it can also be hell, buying clothes is a mess because nothing fits right unless it's custom made, and my body has trouble keeping itself warm because of the lack of fat. Honestly, the fact these people act like their body is always great, and the only complains I ever hear is mens attention while being skimpy dresses, makes me doubt their realness even more. They are obviously trying to be a sex fantasy and are willing to be fake for it.

I recognize that Photoshop is important to creating and finishing content in the same way that I and other musicians would record musical tracks separately and utilize editing to make the finished track sound good, but do you gulls think that all this editing negatively affects your mental health / self image in any way?

I feel it has helped me. I can’t speak for everyone. But I have BDD and when I take pictures, I hate seeing myself in the camera. With editing, I can make me see what I wish I could always see- body wise anyways. I think if it’s used in small amounts, it’s fine. In some cases though, I can see if feeding a negative self image :<

I can relate to you, but never bothered to learn how to edit photos to beautify myself, because the need just didn't arise. I make it a point of pride that I tend to look better in real life than on Tinder n shit, but half of that comes from the fact that I haven't lined up some high quality photos.

I personally rarely shop my pics since I aim to look better irl than in photos but if the pic is warped from my shitty phone camera or something I'll shop that out

Oh, definitely. I feel like the fact that SO many people shop all of their pics makes others feel worse about the way they look because they don't realize everyone else is touched up.
I personally feel better about my looks if I shoop myself uglier than I am and then compare that to how I actually look.

I take you mean "besides levels and white balance correction", because those do not count as "faking" - unless you've managed to build a perfect camera that can compare to the human eye

There is a beautiful girl with long blonde hair who works in my local shopping center. She has the tiniest waist, and the biggest, roundest ass I've ever seen. I think she might have lipedema, which is a shame because she's young, but she still looks fantastic.

does color correction typically smooth your cellulite, make your arms and waist thinner and remove half your jaw?
