What are you going to dress up as this Halloween?

Pic is me, I dressed as a Lich last year. I'm thinking of doing it again, but I'm also thinking of other concepts that are a little more classic-horror. Haven't started on anything yet, which is a problem! I am especially nervous about the makeup job; my face was originally just caked in smudged eyeshadow, and then I met a wandering makeup artist who corrected it and made me look appropriately villainous. I'd prefer to have full control over the process but I don't think I have enough time to figure it all out...

I love going out to bars on Halloween and getting to be spooky and cool. I wish costume parties happened more often during the year, but at least we get like a whole week at the end of October!

I'm a huge fan of all things horror so feel free to recommend or discuss anything that gives you ~spooky~ artistic inspiration. I love new things and old things alike!

I want to be mothman but I'm working on a huge mech build with a strict deadline so no time :/

As for spooky inspiration, I feel like certain classical pieces like Danse Macabre are criminally underrated as spooky sources of inspiration... also eastern european pagan ritual costumes have always been an influence on my halloween costume ideas.

Danse Macabre is my favorite spooky song, it just screams classy dancing skeletons to me.

This year, I’m probably going to be Christine Daae. My hair’s finally grown out enough to curl nicely, and I’ve got a nice ivory dress all lined up! Now, if only I could magically turn into a soprano.

Using some vampire fangs and over the top makeup as an excuse to wear one of my favorite dresses. Will probably get a lot of shit for this from everyone who says lolita should never be incorporated into a costume.

I'm a huge fan of old horror movies for inspiration. Make it a habit to watch one every day of October, and plenty throughout the year too. Recently had a Romero marathon, and out of the bunch would have to highly recommend Night of the Living dead to anyone who is unfamiliar with his work and Martin to any hardcore horror fans who don't mind VERY graphic and disturbing psychological horror.

If we even get an opportunity to dress up, I think my fiance and I might go as undead pirates. We put together pirate costumes for our state Renaissance Festival earlier this year, so it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to throw those on and add some zombie makeup.

I love the outfit. Personally I think a purple eyeshadow would go nicely with the outfit, but red would definitely make it pop. If you chose a different makeup look, you could even try a haunted doll costume or something.

Same here! It's my favorite holiday - and the same month as my birthday :)

Usually I like to plan my costume a couple of months in advance, but my father suddenly passed away this year in addition to a bunch of other life events and it just threw my groove way off track. For the first time in my life, I wasn't going to dress up, but this year I tried cosplaying for the first time and it reinvigorated my spirit so I threw together a Heathers costume. I sure hope it's recognizable.

You're very sweet, thank you.

Some lolitas are so wrapped up in keeping people from associating the fashion with costuming that they'll be upset when people use dresses and/or accessories in costumes. I understand, they want it to be taken seriously. But I have worn other street fashion before as part of a costume if I really like a particular dress, not just lolita, and feel that, like all other fashions, lolitas shouldn't be afraid to wear it how they wish.

My family and I actually do Halloween every year where we set up our porch (or garage, whatever we're doing this year) and we dress up with our mannequins.

We have wolfman, lady mummy, Dracula, and I want to say Frankenstein as well. We also have trees my mother made from carboard tube that she glued together (about five or so feet tall) and used stain to color it black/brown, then she stripped bark from a dead tree and glued it on.

Looks like a real tree, used the knots in the wood to form screaming faces.

I'm the one that hands out candy.

One year, I was sitting there with my mom and a kid (little girl) came up on the porch. She leaned over, looked me right in the eyes (I was frankenstein at the time) jumped off the porch screaming "No! No! He's there again!"

Later one girl was scared just with the porch as it was, but when she leaned over to get some candy I shook the bowl and she started crying.

Felt real fuckin' bad man, so I took off my mask so she'd calm down seeing it's just a mask and I let her have her pic of candies. Poor girl, probably gave her nightmares!

I have a pair of scleras I want to use, any ideas? I was thinking just doing a skeleton make up, another thought was to do a drag thing and make a black widow, but then I'd have to make a dress and I sincerely doubt I'd be satisfied with the little amount of time I have.

Another thought was werewolf, I have fangs and I could make some decent fur parts and sfx make up but IDK about contacts.

Any fun ideas for sclera costumes? I'd prefer something that's not a direct cosplay but rather just themed or inspired, I have a few wigs on hand (mainly black) and can't really justify getting a new one just for this. My natural hair is brown and semi-long because ICBA to cut it, lol.

If your greasepaint is cheaper than snazz, of course it's shit. use a real brand, some good primer, and then seal it with powder and spray. Even properly applied water based paint (and especially shit like snazz) will crack/sweat off way before properly applied greasepaint budges.

Alright so I settled on making a devil costume. I have a devil's tail, as well as horns. For the outfit I have a black paisley velvet jacket (shifts in red, too, absolutely gorgeous) that I'm planning on matching with just a white dress shirt + black bow/tie.
I have a red and a black lace front on the way, but I'm not sure on what to do with them! I really like the devil-as-businessman concept, but just with the jacket being what it is its obviously less conservative, so I'm a bit unsure about what to do with the wig. Also not sure what to do with the make up, was thinking just adding some red around the eyes.

Any ideas about hairstyles and make up would be appreciated!

Also IDK if I should do wings? I don't really have a good way to attach them, since I don't want to damage the clothes.

We keep having the same discussion in the fursuit thread, where suits that aren't even MLP gets deleted, causing the thread to derail because report-happy fucks don't recognize the actual purpose of a rule as much as they're excited about the opportunity of being right on the internet.

I'm thinking of doing the Bride of Frankenstein since I have a stupid amount of green makeup left over.

Gonna copy some ideas (mainly the glow in the dark lines) from here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDpVFAOtYq4 and pair it with some white hair extensions and just throw my already naturally messy hair in a high bun.

Costume should be easy. But idk a lot of other costumes for the bride tend to have her in white skin even though a lot of makeup tutorials use green and frankly I do like the green look better. Especially since this'll be my work costume as a bartender in a gayborhood bar so the more campy the better.

Any ideas on where to get a couple simple white hair extensions? Preferably curly.

Should I try sewing this costume? I've never sewn anything except velcro onto my cammies. Pretty much anything goes with confederate uniforms as long as you look poor and 1860s. I think wool is a big staple and I also want a stetson. Even if I dont end up looking like I'm going to war Ill carry around a conf. flag so people can be doubly sure.
Ill paint my Red Ryder to look like a Henry and I could try making an ammo bandoleer.
(if it matters, last year I crossdressed as Sengoku Nadeko but the uniform was from aliexpress)

I'm going to do Kemono Friends stuff with my daughter. She'll be Serval and I'm going to do Kaban-chan. I wish there was more costume parties also. I mean the next one that I’m really gonna dress up as will be St. Patty’s day (although I could be a Krampus). Then I wanna dress up as the mad hatter on April fool‘s day...... but ya Halloween is the shit!!!!

I’m dressing up as the same costume I was last year. Last year I had shingles and then I became sick with a little cold so I couldn’t do much partying. I still dressed up for the festive holiday but this year I am actually going to go out to bar crawls and parades and the like. Picture is from my evil scarecrow costume that I took last Halloween.

I have everything ready except I’m going to get some corn shavings and glue them on. Some are still on and I see you some others in a plastic bag from last year. I knew once I put them in a plastic bag that they probably wouldn’t make it since they were a little damp. Well my hypothesis was correct and when I was reaching for the costume bag my hand went into that bag and it was just goo I felt. When I finally pulled out into the light I saw was black mush.

Besides that I just need a new white tee to paint.

Dear god please help me. I LOVE making costumes so I have no idea why I’m totally lost on what to do.

I do concept-y stuff and not specific characters usually. For some context in the past I’ve been cake, the night sky, a butterfly, and an octopus. My goal is definitely to do something that is realistic in the time I have left before Halloween, which really means that I can’t do any props. So no worbla, no sculpting no scepters etc. most fabric based things I can probably do in the time left. I’m quite a good seamstress if that helps.

After that i'm going to buy a roll of Rubber matting from Home Depot or something and I'll probably spraypaint that green. and i'll use posterboard for the stickers/cap details. Any advice?

prescription colored contacts. Try websites like pinkyparadise or honeycolor. Just take a look at your contact box and it should say what your prescription is. If not, ask your optometrist. Be cautious as it is your eyesight, but with a little of background research you will be safe. I wouldn't buy em off Amazon or something.

I've used Honeycolor plenty of times and never had a problem. It isn't so much about the site you use as it is the specific brand- Look at reviews for whatever pair you're interested in and see if they're comfortable/not drying etc.

PP and Honeycolor are just well-known and reliable for shipping etc., do your research on the brands they have listed and see what would work best for you.

What >>10010346 said. Practice poses in whatever you wear so when you get a picture taken you'll know how to make it more flattering. Lift your chin. Turn at an angle that looks best for you. Don't hunch your shoulders, pull them back, and it does a ton of things for how you'll look when you get your pics back. I can add 10 lbs to my neck if I'm turned the wrong way, looking down or over my shoulder, ugh.

Pick flattering clothes and not just some out of the box cheap costume. There might be some adjustments you gotta make yourself but it's worth it. You can still be cute!!

Wire and modeling wax. There was an Engraver cosplay a few years ago that used it for her arm "needles". Basically build a mound of wax where you want the "spike" to go in, shove in the wire and boom spike. You can disguise the wax with body paint- this guy is super pale and bloody so that should be easy.

With them being on your back I'd be afraid of them getting stuck on stuff and pulling off, though. So keep that in mind.

She would not be OK with posting photos here, and I'm not really sure what her plan for Bowsette exactly is from the patterns yet - seems to be based off a corset she already has, I think the shell is going to be a backpack, and I don't know about the tail (she's asking a furry friend for advice I think?) or horns or crown yet. At least the collar and the cuffs are easy!

Morticia is, I freely admit, from-the-wardrobe lazy cosplay for me - I have some very goth friends and it's a present from one of them that I don't really wear a lot because you do have to be a little careful not to trip over. I'm definitely going to have to wear a corset underneath, because I don't really have the cleavage to pull it off otherwise. The makeup's also going to be a little tricky - hooded eyes - but I think I can do her justice well enough.

Ah, okay, you can do a few things:
1.you can use a very thin fabric and cut a square, use a brush and dab a thin layer at four corners of the eye hole or a square around the hole. Place the fabric on it glue and Very carefully press down if you put too much force then the glue could bleed through
2. Get a bigger bag, see in the Pic you posted? The bag's too small, get a bigger bag, practice in the mirror of tilting your head, a trick I do for photos, is I tilt my head so that the eye hole is not directly aligned with my eye, this will cause the eye hole to appear darker
Hope this helps a little

I haven't done anything for Halloween in absolute years, so now that I made new friends who actually like doing things I have no idea who/what to go for this Halloween. My friend found a cute unicorn horn at a store yesterday so she's gonna whip something related to that up. Dunno about the other girls.

What are some cute, simple ideas? I fucked up my thumb and pointing finger so sewing is out of the question. This is kinda cute but I'm a little worried about the quality...

So I wanna make myself some "potions" to go along with a wizard cosplay I am doing. I do not want to use water to fill these, and I just want a blue, and a red potion (Mana and Health, respectively) What other, thicker fluids could I use besides water to fill these? After I am done I am planning on adding them to a shelf for display and was hoping whatever fluid is mentioned will hold it's color stored over very long periods of time, or won't separate into the fluid and the color. Maybe some kind of oil? I have no clue.

Thoughts on my scarecrow mask? Got a pair of dungarees on the way for the farmhand look and an actual big bag of hay that I'm wondering how to incorporate if anybody has ideas.

No, take breaks from wearing the mask. It's not a furry con, there's no taboo on just taking the mask off where people can see.

>> No.10016918

>>10016896
Looks good. I'd suggest using diluted black/brown paint around edges, eyes and mouth hole. You could also dirty up the dungarees and pair it with a plaid undershirt. As for the hay, stuff some your pockets, beneath the shoulder straps, and around the hems of your pants. Feel free to temporarily attach some to your dungarees too.

All and all, a good start!

I did jacket a few years ago, a trick I used was poking some little holes in hard to see parts of the mask and holding them open with cut pieces of a small pipe, like the size of a drinking straw. It made it soo much easier to breath in.

>>10016918
Thanks! I haven't got any experience in weathering but I'm sure there's more than a few youtube videos that could teach me some basics. I hadn't thought of it but I guess the dungarees looking brand new would seem less authentic for an old scarecrow.

I didn't like any of the masquerade-type masks, so I cut one myself out of a white full-face mask so it kinda goes around my face, the only drawback is it doesn't look spiked out in the profile, but it looks similar to he official art in the sides

Nothing, and I hate it.
Nobody gives two shits about Halloween where I'm from, maybe 2 groups of kids actually trick or treating, with cheap $10 standard costumes, then there's a bunch of 14-15 year olds who walk around in completely regular clothes "Can I get some candy, lol"
No themed halloween nights in the few bars my town has, no halloween parties, and by that I mean where people take the halloween costume part seriously. Nobody dresses up at all and it saddens me.

Might as well be revealing my story, it happens to the best of us. Just admit

>at the pool during the late shift (around 2 am- it’s 24 hour pool) and there’s no one around so I’m swimming in my clothes.
>at this point I even have my socks and shoes on
Thing is it’s survival training, for if I was on a ship and fell overboard in my clothes I need STAMINA to survive until landfall.

>now it’s a pretty big pool and I’m dead in the centre, paddling about yelling “don’t leave me”
>if I do this then my lung will expand as well so when the ship goes I have more STAMINA

>retarted employee walks past and sees me ‘drowing’ and jumps on to save me
>now obviously this wouldn’t happen s I resist her attempts to pull me from the water.
>elbow in the face worked well

>water turns red, great, now sharks could come. Notice I’m fucked becoaise no amount of STAMINA could let me punch a shark. Basically she ruined my workout.

>hip out of pool and tell the staff that it’s ruined, she’s crying and bleeding at the nose.

As if it couldn’t get more worse, a family of 6 turn up, man, woman and three kids from 17 down to 3.
>they saw the whole thing, eventually gets security into me.
>drag me out while I’m crying ‘I didn’t do nothin’

Guys, I think I that the same city way but too lazy to do the work said it is not a problem.

That's because people are fucking idiots. Morrigan and Lilith, the source of the "traditional" Japanese succubus look, are supposed to have wings with long "arms" that sprout from the shoulders, but hang low when they're resting. People somehow warped this into the wings coming from the waist/lower back, partially because Morrigan's hair covers her back.

>see some guy with his face up another’s ass, twiddling his dick and playing with the other guys dick as well, one of them is moaning and the other is repeating, ‘yeah, for you, for you”

Like you said here, >>10023774, be proud of your progress. It's not a lost cause, but there aren't enough pieces of your costume to connect to the idea of Bowsette - even in her many interpretations. And the ones you do have don't fully translate the concept either. For example, your crown is gold and pink with lil eyeballs like Bowsette's, but it doesn't curve outward like her crown, it doesn't have spots, it's the wrong shade of pink, and it doesn't have those mounds that come in to a center point deal. And the same could be said of the other components of your costume. The horns aren't tapered like natural horns would be and the color makes them blend into the background, the shell (which is perhaps the best piece of your costume) isn't rounded, and you're not wearing a dress. The lack of makeup and spiked hair is excusable as it's based on personal preference, but the costume overall is lacking in more components than it offers. You had a good line of thinking in bringing the piece to life, but I think you'd be happier with the results if you took the time to incorporate more of Bowsette's recognizable traits into your costume.
