What other dresses would you like to see rereleased? Doesn't have to be from AP. Let me know!

>> No.10020502

I don't know whether I want CTP because of the hype, or because I actually want it. I never allowed myself to bother searching it out second hand because it's always been stupid expensive, but now I have a chance, will I regret it if I don't take it? If it ends up like Holy Hell Not Again I'll be sad, because I liked holy lantern until I saw it EVERYWHERE.

In before someone says Puppet Circus - AP has said that the print and velvet construction is too expensive to ever reproduce so that's one that they will never re-release.

Didn't realize we were starting a new one when I posted in the old one about this; as part of the Girly Leopard release they made furry spats and it's making me wonder; will spats ever become the new wrist cuffs? Like, for winter (when people are wearing long sleeves) they almost seem to make more sense.

>>10020501
I wish Innocent World would make Mucha collabs a regular thing; like how AP always has a chocolate print in fall/ winter. I also wish AP would go back and re-imagine their lucky pack exclusive prints and create new cuts with old prints. The typical lucky pack JSK makes economic sense, but I think it would also be fun to go back and see what it could be on a more "normal" dress price point.

I'd support this but only if they actually look good for a change. I love Mucha and I love Fujiwara's designs, and I'll readily admit that the 2013 collab looks alright... but all in all, these are just boring. The 2015 release is especially abysmal imo.

>> No.10020609

Yeah, I never thought of them as inter-changeable. I almost feel like the mis-match of the silver shoes with the black is on purpose to really get across the idea. I kinda want the beigey ones to put with brown boots.

>>10020548
It might not be new, but I haven't seen the idea around lately. Lolita seems to thrive on a certain amount of repetition; like if the same concept shows up enough then it's much more exceptable.

>>10020531
You're right about the cut, but I did like the actual fabric print of the 2013 one. The colors were more clear and lively on the 2015 one, but they were so much smaller. It's really the bodice's fault, I think.

>> No.10020654

I’m really getting tired of the BTB mods always dropping the ball on at least making the submission post.

I have been thinking if I made another LJ secret community would any one be interested? Would be pretty much the same rules but no designated mod per week just a mod discord and one mod saying “ I’m posting the secrets right now” so the other mods know it’s being posted. Then after the secrets post is made, the next week submission post is made at the same time. This way there will never be another submissions post being made only a day before secrets go up.

Re-release dream? Iron gate long skirt in black/blue. Any Iron Gate re-release is never to be though. Mana-sama himself said that the digital print file for it was somehow corrupted and of course they switched lace providers so the old laces will be different on anything they do re-release. Up-side about the lace is that the new designs are pretty too.

Anon… Moitie hasn't had a new lace design since ~2011. All the lace on the new stuff has been reproductions/scrap from old collections (most notably 2006's St. Peter's Cross lace and the rose cross lace from 2007, although my Neo Gothic Arch headdress has the lace design from 2008).

Not as far as I can tell, if there are differences they're extremely minor. Here's a collage, right side is old and the left is the teaser images of the new socks and the gloves.

Compare the edges, stitch densities, the twining vine direction is reversed on the bottom, the new embroidery is not as dense or raised and the new base netting has fewer, bigger holes...hm.

>> No.10020754

>>10020745
I noticed that the lines were thicker on the newer ones (the scrolling vines on the socks are pretty obvious), but holy crap I didn't notice the twining vine being switched. Could it be attributed to camera mirroring? I'm not sure the net is any more fine on the older ones though, the top right looks pretty close to the bottom left. Hm. I might have to pull out a few things and do an old vs new comparison IRL.

The design itself is unchanged though, which was my main point. They're just trying to reproduce the old stuff as close as possible rather than modify the designs or make totally new ones.

Is it me, or has closet child's online selection dwindled? I haven't been on there in a pretty long time, a few months, but it seems like when I look through certain pages there's a lot less products to look through there used to be? Or is it just me

>> No.10020762

>>10020754
Agreed on the reproducing aspect but there were bound to be differences. New net looks coarser because I have one older piece. The vine is not mirrored or wrong-sided though, compare the adjacent M’s, they are both right sided. I'm struggling here gulls. I'm not sure how much longer I should be patient with this LM seller. I paid just shy of 3 weeks ago, and she still hasn't shipped. She respond to maybe 1 request for an update out of every 2-3 I send. She's always apologetic in the messages I have gotten, and I just politely tell her I don't mind waiting as long as she can keep me posted and let me know if there's gonna be another delay.

At this point my last message has been unread for 3 days and I'm thinking I might just tell her that I'd like to receive either the tracking # or refund by the end of next week (which will be over 3 weeks since I paid) and if I don't receive either I will have to file a claim for refund.

Am I being out of line here? I've just never dealt with someone who has been so slow/unresponsive. I'm not sure if I'm being too patient, or not patient enough.

I used to have the same mindset, but now that I have a stable income I find myself caring less about resale value. For comparison, unless you're a really good sales hawker and can drum up sales for your used clothing through youtube and instagram, the most you can hope out of used chainstore brand clothing is about $20 at most for clothing you likely bought new, which makes it almost not worth it to sell. By comparison, if I wore a dress several times, enjoyed it, and then decided to sell it, I do get more, even percentage wise.

That being said, the dream dresses I overpaid for are staying with me forever. I know I'm not going to get my money back, but I don't care to anyways.

someone doesn't know their J-indie.

the issue you have with the gathering is because the model doesn't have the jsk tightened/isn't hippy enough for this size. it's fit not construction.
the shape of the bodice bottom is designed like a corset, but not of really rigid material and reinforced construction like VM, MM or Millefleurs would do. This has the flattering corset look but in a more comfortable day-to-day execution. the brocade is great quality, if you check the detail shots on the product listing.

I would absolutely get this if they had a size for my big ass. I think it's okay that it isn't completely formfitting on the model at the low-waist area and you're being nitpicky (which is funny since you have no leg to stand on).

Read that again, but slower this time.

The fabric puckering on the seams has nothing to do with fit: if anything the rippling of the panels does, but I’m not the anon that pointed that out. My issue was with the seam puckering and bulk at the waistline; things that have nothing to do with fit. I don’t think it was smart to have a waist seam with such heavy fabric, and managing that is probably what caused most of their issues.
I never called it taobao, I’m just tempering my excitement for the brand. It has some honing left to do.

>> No.10022545

>>10022301
Yeah no, seam puckering and a wonky-ass waist seam is nothing to do with fit. The seam is not rippling because the garment is fitting loose, it's rippling because of a mismatch between fabric choice and pattern as well as poor construction. You can make this fabric and design work without full reinforced construction - VM and MM are not exactly brands known for steel boning and heavy duty interfacing, yet they still get their seams smooth and even with all the velveteens, corduroys and gobelin this isn't an issue for them.

also be careful on using it on wool and silk & similar because it can break down the protein fibres and make them fall apart. You're not ripping people off. Fundamentally, if someone buys something at a certain price, it means that was the correct price for them, since they were willing to buy it in the first place. It was valued at what they were willing to pay. There's no rip off, and it's not a scam.

The same is true in the reverse situation, where someone tries to sell something at what they think is "market value," but no one wants to buy it. It just means that's not it's actual market value. There's no independent "true" price for things, it's just what people are willing to pay.

They've done toned down designs before, this Phantom one is way before their jellyfish dress that fucked up everything, gave them a huge ego and started them on charging foreigners more. I wouldn't even say they had their own style anyway, aside from Mozarabic Chant and jellyfish everything else they've produced always looks like another brand's style, eg- "jetj style" Le Rentissement Versailles or Twelve Constellations, "aatp style" Transilvania Moonlight or Dullahan, "ap style" Red Queen or Venice Carnival, and so on. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Moitie is just out designers to hire and picked someone who could copy "moitie style" without actually replicating anything.

I'm way more worried about the quality. Granted I don't own a lot of Krad, Mozarabic Chant and Jellyfish were so super hyped up and then when I finally saw them in person I realised people don't actually say Krad is good quality per se. Most people actually selectively say "It's good for taobao brand", or "I was expecting much worse", or "I have this one particular specific burando dress that I dislike more than this dress". They get very selective and there's a lot of qualifiers why they say it's "good".

And given that Moitie just went through a change in ownership and maybe don't have access to their old manufacturers I'm just really worried that they're just gonna use Krad's manufacturing and then slap a Moitie label at the end. This is even worse because there's always going to be some issues you'll never see in photos until you hold the dress in your hand and feel what the fabric quality is really like.

I don't know, I might just pass on this altogether unless I can actually see it somewhere before I buy it. Have a trip to Japan coming up so I'm hoping it coincides with the release. It'll be their first "new" design since the changeover so I want it to go well, but I'm not willing to encourage a drop in quality.

My whole point was that I don't think selling a dress like Puppet Circus for three times the original cost is scalping, since it's been ages since they were available to buy new. They've sold for very high prices several times over the years, so those "high" prices are just now their regular prices and represent true market value. Basically, if people are willing to pay 1k for something, then it's worth 1k regardless of it's "actual" original cost. If someone buys a secondhand dress for 1k, if they eventually resell it, it obviously makes sense for them to try to make their money back. And if I bought PC new at retail price back in the day and decided to sell it today, of course I would jump on the opportunity to get more money out of it, so that I could turn around and put it into more dresses. I doubt you wouldn't do the same, but correct me if I'm wrong. Similarly, if you like something that's selling for 1k but don't think it's worth that much, it just means you're not the correct buyer for it, and that you shouldn't buy it.

>Why do you need to justify these price points so damn bad
I don't particularly like that some dresses go for crazy amounts, and I neither own nor want to own any of them. I'm not saying the whole thing is good, just that it economically makes sense for these reasons.

The reason I was talking about Iron Gate is because it's just an example of something that goes for way above retail, and is often brought up when people talk about scalpers. I was never talking about CTP because the rerelease makes it no longer relevant here.

What exactly do you want to see happening with the whole situation? For people to just never exceed retail price on the secondhand market, regardless of rarity?

>represent true market value.
No, that represents the SECOND hand market value.

If someone buys a $1K dress, then that is their fucking issue. Why scam other people because you made a mistake?

>I need to make my money back
maybe you should have not spent it then??

>so that I could turn around and put it into more dresses.
yup, that's the mentality I'm talking about.

>I doubt you wouldn't do the same
I don't even sell my dresses unless it's the rare time I get something that doesn't fit. I love everything I own and unlike some other people, I'm not into the hobby for fucking resale marketvalue shit.

> For people to just never exceed retail price on the secondhand market, regardless of rarity?
No silly, that's crazy unrealistic. It's more realistic that more dresses will get rereleases, at least out of AP.

Sorry about your other brands that don't care about secondhand assholes making profit of their work.

So she's just another DevilInspired shill now? Bet that dress doesn't cost more than a couple hundred on Taobao.

>true market value
You're missing my point. For dresses like PC where there is no firsthand market, the secondhand market is the only market, so secondhand market value = true value. Also, it's not a scam, there's no trick. It's not like the item is advertised incorrectly, which would be an actual scam.

>maybe you should have not spent it then??
I agree that if someone buys something expensive then can't get their money back, that's their own damn problem. However, if they can resell it for how much they paid, what's the issue? They get their money back, and someone else bought a dress for a price they were willing to pay. I'm just saying that if you're going to sell something, it just makes sense to try to get as much money for it as possible.

Again, just to be clear, I also refuse to buy dresses over retail (there's no dress I want enough that I would pay that much for), don't buy things because of their resale value, and rarely ever sell things in the first place. My point is that I'm not mad at the people who do try to make profit if they can, and I don't really get why you seem to be.

Hasn't she's been shilling their stuff for months now? Not sure why she thinks its a good idea to promote spending 500 us dollars on what looks no different to a cheap, shiny store bought rapunzel costume. Lor always preaches that lolita is the kind of hobby that you have to really put effort into and sometimes hunt down dresses for years, which it is. I know they sponsor her but it just feels so disingenuous to see her clickbaiting 'omg 700 dollar dress' for it to only cost that much because of how inflated the reseller is, not because that's actually what the dress goes for if you bother to look around. If she was unboxing one of those special MTO brand dresses I'd be way more impressed.

Exactly what I thought when I saw it. Honestly though, if it really had to be expensive taobao I'd be more interested in those "couture" dresses soufflesong has now, but Lor is sponsored by devil inspired so ofc it's going to be this garbage. She can't honestly think the shiny fabric is nice.

I addressed there being no firsthand market in my last reply but you must have not read the entire post. It's too bad that those brands don't care. Not my fucking problem. Sorry some idiot paid and ungodly amount from someone who was enough of a greedy asshole that they listed a dress above retail and then everyone blindly followed suit.

I'm not mad. I just think its hilarious that all these girls wasted money on a dress that got rereleased.

>it makes sense to get as much money as possible
See. Everyone was calling me a poorfag but that is the most poorfag thing I've ever read!
The only reason to have that mentality is if money means a whole hell of a lot to you that you have to get as much as possible or else you might not be able buy more dresses!
Fucking lol. Seriously. I don't sell my fucking dresses cause I don't need to.
