You have to consider that men have been in far more perilous and far more trying situations and simply not had the opportunity to do what you're considering. There's a reason that the vast majority of homeless are men, and women tend to rebound out of homelessness very quickly. One of the reasons pay gaps still exist is that men are more willing to do whatever it takes to get, keep, or advance in a job. It's because "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger" - those men have become inured to facing hardships and overcoming them, while no one other than themselves gives two fucks about whether they fail.

Ultimately you gotta do what you gotta do, but you are setting a precedent for the rest of your life here. You have an opportunity to evade the construction of what we call "character" by taking an easy road. Men are blessed for not having such an opportunity.
