Aw man, I'd hug you if I could anon. Just remember that even though your pet is really sick and may die, they'll live on as long as you remember them. And if your hoggie does die, it's sad, but you can start a new story with a new hedgehog. You can keep those memories alongside any new pet you have. It's not replacement, it's not "filling a hole". You love that hedgehog, and they love you too. And that's something that can't be wrenched away from you, no matter how hard death tries,

Pic related. It's my dog who was put down a year and a half ago after we found a growth on her spleen. They were going to operate but we couldnt get her bloods to stabilise, so she went on steroids and human anti cancer medication. in the end we decided to have her put down. It's tough having a really sick pet, but it does get easier.
