/cgl/ - Cosplay & EGL

I'm a cosplayer, and usually find it easy to be social with other cosplayers.
But for some reason I can't approach lolitas at cons without turning into a huge pile of spaghetti
>at con, cosplaying a magical girl
>spot girl in AP cosmic dress with her bf or something
>pretty nice coord, well accessorised
>sort of walk up to her as we pass each other in the corridor
>stammer out
>"I-I love... COSMIC JUMPERSKIRT."
>she says thanks gracefully and we keep walking

And the thing is that I'm sort of into lolita (own some nice main pieces, can make 3-4 complete coords, and have met my local comm) but I just find it so hard to keep it together when I see them at conventions. At least at the last one I managed to tell some girls they looked great and I loved their shoes, and it hopefully came across as gushing rather than awkward.
