This guy is actually transitioning, but I do understand what you mean about his beard looking weird. Personally I dislike facial hair on anyone especially in J-fash, but that's personal preference.
Not to sound tumblr but fairy kei and related fashions are awkward because even people who were born male look girly in it. It's probably quite hard to balance gender identity and fashion if you're genuinely trans.
