I'm considering doing this interpretation of a female Luigi. The materials are fairly obvious (I have loads of royal blue canvas left for the pinafore) but: how do I get the hat and top to match, since the top will have to be a jersey knit and the hat will have to be something heavier and stiffer? Also, should I extend the hemline to below the knee to look more gangly and give a more 1930s-type silhouette (going with the overall retro cartoon vibe of the Mario Bros)?

Lastly, I want some props and accessories from one of the games, but not the Poltergust. Something from the Mario & Luigi games would be the most obvious choice, but I can't think of anything.
