I wouldn't say there is particular brands, just the typical risk of buying from a wholesaler, expectation vs reality.

Like I thought these socks would have a softer ruffle with the embroidery, but it's a thick cotton and smaller bow.

Or the black and white socks that I wanted for an old school dress I have. I was HOPING it would not look like the photo so it would have less lace happening, but it came exactly like the photo lol
