Question as a European. Before I heard about this, I honestly didn't expect this to be such a big deal, since in conventions over here people using bodypaint to make their skin darker isn't too uncommon.
I can understand how it's bad to make your skin darker to cosplay a black character due to history of doing it, but does same apply to other races?
For example, would pic related be fine? This isn't about if the cosplay looks good, but Anthy isn't meant to be black, her nationality is never stated in the series but the bindi on her forehead suggests that she's Indian, or from somewhere else in South Asia. So yeah, would it be fine to use bodypaint while cosplaying dark skinned asians?
