I finally got my fairy marine replica in the mail. I bought the short version in navy from http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=0.0.0.0&id=37952203596
It's not as ugly looking as I was expecting, although some minor parts weren't sewn properly, but I've already managed to fix those myself.
The waist ties are attached with buttons, but they don't detach. The skirt doesn't look as sad if there's a petticoat there. It look ugly without because the skirt underneath is heavier than the outer layer, so while the inner one drags itself down, the see-through one just floats there and looks ugly. Sleeves have only one layer of fabric over them, should be two I think, but it doesn't look that bad imo since I was intending to wear it casually.
My real only gripe is that I wish the bodice were longer. That's not really the shop's fault since that's the design of the dress, but I personally don't like the way it sits on me. Since I probably can't sell it, I'll probably just alter it and see what I can do.

Any idea how I can make the bodice longer?
