Owning a sewing machine, knowing how to use it, and have friends who want help in cosplay is like owning a truck, knowing how to drive it, and having friends who want help in moving. If your friend always expects you to do it, start charging per hour. If you really do want to work for free, though, at least tell her that you can't afford it unless she buys and brings you all the materials and supplies (and give her a list so she doesn't skimp on stuff like thread or zippers, and she doesn't buy difficult fabrics like chiffon). That way at least she experiences how tedious and expensive just shopping for materials is.
