How much do you think it costs to buy materials for a skirt? Even if you bought fabric that's a similar weight and hand as an AP skirt and nearly identical lace, you're still looking at a skirt that costs less than a secondhand AP skirt goes for on the western market.

Pic related, for example, is going for $198 on LM.
According to AP, the main fabric is polyester organza (their website says organdy but organdy is a different fabric) and the lining is 100% cotton sateen. According to fabric.com, a medium weight 100% cotton sateen is approximately $7/yd and polyester organza is at most $4/yd.
You'd probably need about 3 yards of lining and 5 yards of organza. That puts you at $41.
Daisy lace similar to the one on the apron straps, bodice, and skirt costs around $3/yd if you buy it from Joann's without a coupon and you'd need around 7 yards, taking your total to $62.
Organza ribbon for the bows on the bodice and skirt and for lacing can be bought by the spool, for $5 for 50 yards on Amazon. You only need about 2.5 yards, so that's $0.25.
The appliques like the flowers on the dress can be bought from various sellers on eBay for approximately $0.10/piece. Assuming there's 50 flowers on the dress, that's $5.

All of these factors put together means that the dress costs $67.25, about 1/3 of the price that it's going for on LM.
