Obviously, I’m a little late to the party, and thankfully all the anons above have asked the questions I would, about poundage and such.

The one caveat I would add about gear on your person boils down to two trains of thought:

1: What equipment would your character carry? I would flat out expect a woodsman or Ranger to carry much less in the way of personal items in creature comforts then say, a soldier. A soldier could very well carry a blanket, a cloak, a small cooking pot, cooking utensils, and a canvas rain cloth on their person, but they are also working in tandem typically with other people, and are not traveling in the same manner as a woodcrafter. The Ranger has to travel light, and will most likely get rid of Anything that is not immediately useful, or would weigh him down.

2: What items do you mundanely know how to use, and will you use it? Carting around a flint and steel is all well and good, but if you don’t know how to start a fire with it, you’re better off with a lighter or fero rod. If you’re not gonna be lighting fires at all, don’t bother taking it.

Pic is some of my personal crap.
